WATCH: Saquon Barkley recruits Jason Kelce back to the Eagles on New Heights show

During his first appearance on the New Height Show, New Eagles running back Saquon Barkley started recruiting Jason Kelce back to Philadelphia

Over the past few weeks, Jason Kelce has hinted multiple times at dismay over the Eagles signing a star running back as soon as he decides to retire.

The All-Pro center and brother Travis Kelce welcomed Saquon Barkley onto their New Heights Show, and the former Penn State star immediately started recruiting Kelce back to the Eagles.

While describing his arrival to Philadelphia as a “kid in the candy store,” Barkley told Kelce, “You don’t have to watch,” when responding to the Eagles legend’s talk about how excited he is for the 2024 season.

Travis Kelce mourns Chiefs’ free agency losses of Mecole Hardman, Orlando Brown Jr.

“It hurts to lose the good guys,” #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce said.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is coming to terms with losing some of his friends on the team during the course of the 2023 NFL free agency period.

Speaking with his brother, Jason Kelce, on their “New Heights Show” podcast this past week, the two recapped some recent moves in free agency. Travis spoke about the Chiefs losing former 2019 second-round draft pick Mecole Hardman, who signed with the New York Jets in free agency.

“I know the Chiefs have been making some moves and we lost a good guy,” Travis Kelce said. “We lost a good guy, man. We lost one of the good guys. Mecole Hardman. My brother went over to the New York Jets. Mecole ‘The Jet’ Hardman is now playing for the Jets. He is who he plays for. One of the fastest guys in the league, my dog Mecole, man. It hurts to lose the good guys. I miss him already.”

Travis said he hadn’t asked Hardman about the Aaron Rodgers situation and whether it played a role in his free agency decision. Perhaps we’ll hear about that in a future episode.

In addition to mourning Hardman’s departure, Travis also took a moment to mourn the “Legion of Zoom” wide receiver room comprised of Hardman, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson.

“You tweeted out over the weekend that the ‘Legion of Zoom’ is no more,” Jason Kelce said.

“It is no more,” Travis responded. “I’m the only zoom left.”

“You weren’t part of the zoom, Trav,” Jason joked.

“Well, you win some, you lose some,” Travis said with a big sigh.

During last week’s episode, Travis also took a moment to mourn the loss of another important teammate as LT Orlando Brown Jr. signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. This one hurt Kelce in particular because of the destination.

“It hurts. It hurts my soul, man. Hurts my soul. It’s like watching your best friend just turn evil on you,” Travis Kelce said. “It’s tough man. Obviously, I mean, the past like two years we’ve struggled beating the Bengals. So, there’s been a lot of like build up in emotion of like, I would say, not necessarily hate but just like dislike towards the Bengals because they keep beating us, and they keep talking about it every time they do. So, it’s like, to see him go to the dark side man, it’s an awkward feeling. Obviously, I hope that he has an absolute Hall of Fame career. You know what I mean? I wish nothing but the best for (Orlando Brown). He was an unbelievable leader. An unbelievable teammate on and off the field. We’ve got countless memories that I’ll cherish.”

Kelce is the longest-tenured player on the team, so he’s seen plenty of players come and go. It might lessen the blow slightly, but it can’t be easy seeing the brothers you’ve won a Super Bowl alongside leave for another team.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recaps his week at ‘Saturday Night Live’

On the latest New Heights Show, #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recapped the week leading up to his performance as host of “Saturday Night Live.” | from @EdEastonJr

The offseason activities are in full swing as front-office personnel scrambles to make decisions to improve rosters. Free agency and the NFL draft dominate the headlines, while some players question their future and others enjoy the time off the field.

The Kansas City Chiefs players are enjoying their post-Super Bowl LVII life with various appearances and events. Travis Kelce enjoyed his at one of the most iconic television programs in history last week. The All-Pro tight end joined his brother Jason Kelce for another taping of their “New Heights” podcast to recap his time hosting “Saturday Night Live.”

“So Monday, you have the interaction meeting, then you meet with the writers about your monologue,” said Travis. “It was probably the biggest part — was making sure the monologue was true to you, but still, at the same time, entertaining. Oh my gosh, they made that monologue so, me. I could just run with it, and I could have fun with it. I was comfortable with everything; it didn’t make me nervous about anything I was saying. I could just sit up there and make fun of myself in front of anyone; it was the best.”

The iconic sketch comedy show is known for its busy week of preparation for the big night, setting it apart from other programs. Kelce continued to detail his week and mentioned a Pro Football Hall of Famer who offered him advice.

“Tuesday comes around, and you start to meet with every writer there, you just go office to office … and you just hear pitches, and you hear what sticks, what’s fun,” said Travis.” Peyton Manning gave me one word of advice going into it, which was the best advice I could get; he was like, ‘Dude, just go all in. Just be open-minded… be on time…’”

Kelce had sketches that included his brother Jason and a special unaired one with teammate Creed Humphrey. The scene was cut for time but has since gone viral online; he detailed how he got the Chiefs center to participate.

“We needed a third NFL offensive lineman or third NFL player,” said Jason. “Yeah. And we reached out to Creed. And he was like, ‘Yeah, I’m in, man.’ He literally had to jump on a flight in like four hours. He jumped on a flight that morning, comes all the way out to New York City from Oklahoma City. Does the bit, and he’s gone.

“Immediately back (to Oklahoma City) because he had a parade,” said Travis. “It was Creed Humphrey parade in Oklahoma City. Yeah, so he had to get back and couldn’t miss that. Creed, I love you for this man, and he absolutely killed it.”

The show was praised by many of Kelce’s teammates and players around the league. He continues to show he’s more than a football player and has a bright future when his playing days are over.
