Alabama Morning Drive: Bill O’Brien interviews with Patriots, Tide adds UGA transfer

The latest news and notes involving the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday, Jan. 20.

Good morning, Tide fans! Welcome back to another Friday edition of Alabama Morning Drive!

Thursday certainly was an exciting day for the fans of the Alabama football program.

Alabama offensive coordinator [autotag]Bill O’Brien[/autotag] interviewed for the same position with New England Patriots. He is now expected to eventually land the role with his old boss, Bill Belichick.

Tide fans have made their feelings about O’Brien known over the past couple of seasons, so it appears they will be getting their wish and a new coordinator will soon take over in Tuscaloosa.

Here are a few other top stories to follow this Friday morning!

Christian Barmore dominating Patriots training camp

Christian Barmore is reportedly dominating Patriots training camp!

Former Alabama defensive lineman [autotag]Christian Barmore [/autotag]had an outstanding rookie season for the New England Patriots that concluded with an appearance on the All-Rookie Team selected by the Pro Football Writers of America. Barmore had 36 tackles two pass deflections and one and a half sacks, and the expectations are even higher headed into year two.

The former Crimson Tide standout posted 63 tackles 10 sacks and forced three fumbles in only 22 games for Alabama. Things have not changed as Barmore continues to be a dominant force on the inside, and six days into training camp he appears to be their best player. Barmore will be a key piece of the Patriots defense this year, especially against the run.

If the Patriots have any chance of knocking off the Bills and Dolphins to win the division this year, Barmore will need to have a break-out year
