Idaho State at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Idaho State at Nevada odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Another week of college football is here and the Nevada Wolf Pack (1-0) will play its home opener against the Idaho State Bengals (0-1) of the FCS. Kickoff is set for Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. ET at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. Below, we look at the Idaho State vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Idaho State began its season with a 35-14 home loss to North Dakota. QB Tyler Vander Waal threw 3 interceptions and the team managed to rush for only 72 yards.

Nevada picked up an upset win on the road against California last week. The Wolf Pack rallied from down 14-0 in the first quarter to win 22-17. Junior QB Carson Strong had 312 passing yards and threw 2 touchdowns in the win.

Idaho State at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 48, Idaho State 10

Money line

It is a hard PASS on the money line. Nevada is 8-1 against non-major opponents dating back to 2010 and that one loss happened to be a 30-28 defeat at the hands of Idaho State in 2017. However, that is definitely the exception.

Idaho State is not only considered a lesser opponent, but it also has not been a good team in the FCS. The Bengals have gone 15-26 over the last five years and 1-19 in their last 20 road games.

There is just no upside to betting the money line unless you think there is a real chance at an upset. That isn’t going to be this game and betting the favorite wins you 10 cents for every $10 you wager.

Against the spread

Idaho State lost by 21 points at home against a fellow non-major school as 10.5-point underdogs last week.

Nevada beat a Pac-12 team on the road as 3-point underdogs. Nevada’s strength early in the season appears to be its defense. After Cal scored touchdowns and had 10 first downs on their first two possessions against Nevada, it scored only 3 points the rest of the way and was held to four three-and-outs and only seven first downs the rest of the way.

Take NEVADA -34.5 (-107).

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

Five of Nevada’s last nine non-major games had a total of at least 55 points and the last time these two teams faced one another, the game had a total 58 points.

Take OVER 53.5 (-110).

Nevada at California odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Nevada at California odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nevada Wolf Pack and California Golden Bears meet Saturday at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nevada at California odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Nevada is considered the favorite in the Mountain West’s West Division, and head coach Jay Norvell’s team is stacked in 2021. It all starts with QB Carson Strong, who tossed 27 TD passes in just eight regular-season games and the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Top WR Romeo Doubs returns too, as does RB Toa Taua.

California managed just one win in four games in a COVID-19 shortened season. QB Chase Garbers had a full offseason to get on the same page with offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, so look for the Golden Bears to be much better in 2021. Four returning starters on the offensive line will give him ample time and keep him upright.

Nevada at California odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Nevada +133 (bet $100 to win $133) | California -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Nevada +3.5 (-125) | California -3.5 (+100)

Nevada at California odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 31, California 24

Money line

NEVADA (+133) is a tremendous underdog opportunity for a chance at plus money. Strong and the Pack will have their hands full against a talented Cal defense, although the Bears are a little light in the pass rush. With an experienced O-line in front of him, Strong should be able to pick Cal apart.

Against the spread

NEVADA +3.5 (-125) is an outstanding value while catching three and the hook. The Wolf Pack are on the outside looking in as far as the Top 25 rankings are concerned, but a road win over a Power 5 team would certainly turn some heads.

I like Strong and the Nevada offense much better than Garbers and the Cal offense, and I think that alone is the difference.

Over/Under

OVER 52.5 (-110) is the “lean”, although only a small-unit play is warranted. Strong and the Nevada offense has the potential to get a good chunk of this total all on their own. Cal has a strong defense, though, especially in the back end.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Tulane vs. Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Tulane Green Wave vs. Nevada Wolf Pack Famous Idaho Potato Bowl sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Tulane Green Wave (6-5, 3-5 AAC) and the Nevada Wolf Pack (6-2, 6-2 MWC) meet Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Albertsons Stadium in Boise for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Below, we analyze the Tulane-Nevada college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Tulane vs. Nevada: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 9:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tulane -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Nevada +125 (bet $100 to win $125)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tulane -3 (-110) | Nevada +3 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 56.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Tulane vs. Nevada: Three things to know

  1. The Green Wave have posted a 6-8 SU record in 14 all-time bowl games, although they have enjoyed plenty of success lately. Tulane has won four of its past five bowl appearances, including last season’s 30-13 win over Southern Miss at the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas.
  2. Nevada will play on the “Smurf Turf” in Boise for the second straight season, and it’s hoping for better success than last year. Nevada was dumped 30-21 by Ohio, snapping a two-game bowl win streak. The Wolf Pack haven’t had good luck in this stadium. They lost to Miami in 2006 when the game was called the MPC Computers Bowl, and they lost to Maryland in 2008 when it was called the Humanitarian Bowl.
  3. Tulane is 6-1 ATS across the past seven games overall, and is 13-3 ATS in the previous 16 as a favorite. Nevada is 5-0 ATS in the past five as an underdog, though, while going 9-4 ATS in the past 13 overall. Nevada is also 4-1-1 ATS in its past six bowl showings.

Tulane vs. Nevada: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nevada 31, Tulane 27

Money line (ML)

NEVADA (+125) is finally going to end its bowl streak of futility at Albertsons Stadium. A big reason for Nevada’s success in this one will be their ability to pass, as QB Carson Strong is one of the top quarterbacks in the Mountain West Conference. Tulane’s pass defense allowed 279.4 passing yards per game, just 115th in the nation.

Against the spread (ATS)

NEVADA +3 (-110) is a good play if you would like a little bit of wiggle room. Five of Nevada’s past seven bowl appearances have been one-score games, so it isn’t a bad play. Still, I like the money line play much better, and it’s a great value at plus-money. Taking Nevada would be a bit against the grain as the favorite has cashed in each of the past three installments of this bowl game.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 56.5 (-105) is the lean here. We have seen the Over cash in three of the past four Famous Idaho Potato Bowl games, and five of the past seven. If you go all the way back to the first bowl game in 1997 in this stadium, the Over is 14-8-1. Whether it’s the crisp mountain air and/or high elevation, we tend to see high scores in most of these matchups. That could also be a big factor for Tulane, which hails from New Orleans, at or below sea level.

Nevada vs. San Jose State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Nevada Wolf Pack vs. San Jose State Spartans sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (6-1, 6-1 Mountain West) play the San Jose State Spartans (5-0, 5-0) Friday for a 10 p.m. ET kickoff at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the Nevada-San Jose State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Nevada vs. San Jose State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nevada -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | San Jose State -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Nevada +1 (-110) | San Jose State -1 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Nevada vs. San Jose State: Three things to know

  1. This game was relocated from the Bay Area to Las Vegas due to COVID-19 restrictions in the Santa Clara County, Calif., with San Jose State the designated home team The Spartans were 3-0 SU/2-0-1 ATS in three home games in San Jose this season.
  2. San Jose State averages 270.0 passing yards per game to rank 33rd in the nation, and 30.4 points per game. QB Nick Starkel has thrown for 1,147 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
  3. Nevada rebounded with a 37-26 win over Fresno State last week after suffering its first loss, a 24-21 setback at Hawaii Nov. 28. The Wolf Pack are 5-2 ATS, including 1-0 SU/ATS as underdogs this season. Their Over against Fresno State was the Wolf Pack’s first since their opener – the Under was 4-0-1 in five games between Oct. 31 through Nov. 28.

Nevada vs. San Jose State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

San Jose State 34, Nevada 31

Money line (ML)

SAN JOSE STATE (-115) is the play here, although this will be a back-and-forth affair with plenty of offense. Still, picking a straight-up winner rather than playing the spread will cause a little less stress.

Against the spread (ATS)

SAN JOSE STATE -1 (-110) is not as attractive as the money line in what should be a high-scoring, close affair. Starkel and Nevada QB Carson Strong will put on an aerial show in Vegas. This game might come down to a late field goal to decide a winner. I’d actually rather just play the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 58.5 (-110) is the way to go, even if San Jose State is allowing just 17.0 PPG this season. The Spartans will be out of their element a little bit, adjusting to the digs in Vegas. Plus, facing Strong is no walk in the park, regardless of how good the defense has been. The Nevada play-caller is an NFL-caliber quarterback who will give San Jose State fits.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (5-0, 5-0 MWC) visit the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-3, 2-3) Saturday for an 11 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the Nevada-Hawaii college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Nevada at Hawaii: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 9:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nevada -264 (bet $264 to win $100) | Hawaii +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Nevada -7 (-115) | Hawaii +7 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 60.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

Nevada at Hawaii: Three things to know

  1. Nevada posted a 26-21 win at home over San Diego State in a nationally-televised game in Reno, as the Wolf Pack managed to stay unbeaten. They’re 2-0 straight up and 1-1 ATS in two games away from home, averaging 32.0 points per game while allowing 19.5 PPG.
  2. Hawaii hung tough with Boise State last week in the islands, eventually falling 40-32 while covering a 12-point number. The Rainbow Warriors picked up the backdoor cover by outscoring the Broncos 15-0 in the fourth quarter.
  3. Hawaii is transitioning away from the run-and-shoot attack of former coach Nick Rolovich to a more balanced attack under new head man Todd Graham. The results have been mixed; however, they’re a lot better at home with an average of 35.5 PPG.

Nevada at Hawaii: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawaii 41, Nevada 38

Money line (ML)

HAWAII (+210) is worth playing at home, as Nevada is in a trap situation. It’s coming off a huge victory in Reno last week, and a trip to the islands the following week is a tough place to maintain the intensity. Look for the Rainbow Warriors to deal the Wolf Pack their first setback.

Against the spread (ATS)

HAWAII +7 (-106) is just 2-6 ATS in the past eight meetings against the Wolf Pack, but the good news is the underdog is 4-0 ATS in the past four in this series. The Rainbow Warriors have been a bit erratic this season, but you can expect QB Chevan Cordeiro to hang in a shootout with Nevada QB Carson Strong. This one is going to be fun.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 60.5 (-115) is the best bet here, as this one has the makings of a track meet. We have two quarterbacks that can fill up the stat sheet, and they’re a couple of guys brimming with confidence at the moment. Nevada is averaging 32.2 PPG, but it hasn’t hit an Over since Week 1 against Wyoming.

San Diego State at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s San Diego State Aztecs at Nevada Wolfpack sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The San Diego State Aztecs (3-1 overall, 3-1 Mountain West) and Nevada Wolf Pack (4-0, 4-0) meet in Reno, Nev., for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday. Below, we analyze the San Diego State-Nevada college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

San Diego State at Nevada: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 7:25 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: San Diego State -125 (bet $125 to win $100) | Nevada +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: San Diego State -2 (-110) | Nevada +2 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 47.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

San Diego State at Nevada: Three things to know

  1. San Diego State enters this one as the slight road favorites over unbeaten Nevada, and there are a couple of reasons that isn’t so surprising. The Aztecs rank fourth in the country with 280.3 rushing yards per game, and they’re fourth overall in defense with 12.8 point per game allowed.
  2. The Aztecs defense has been on fire, allowing just 243.5 total YPG, ranking second overall, while yielding just 152.3 passing YPG (3rd in the nation) and 91.3 rushing YPG (7th). LB Caden McDonald is a disrupter, posting 4.5 sacks so far.
  3. Nevada is unbeaten thanks to a powerful offense, as the Wolf Pack rank second in the country with 382.8 passing YPG. QB Carson Strong has passed for 1,517 yards with 12 TDs, including at least three in three of his four 2020 outings.

San Diego State at Nevada: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

San Diego State 24, Nevada 20

Money line (ML)

SAN DIEGO STATE (-125) is favored on the road because of its D. Defense wins championships, trumping offense nearly every time. Nevada (+105) has been sharp, but the jury is still out since its past three wins are against UNLV, Utah State and New Mexico, the bottom of the barrel in the Mountain West.

Against the spread (ATS)

SAN DIEGO STATE -2 (-110) is a solid play. Yes, it has beaten UNLV and Utah State, common opponents, but it also was solid in shutting down a very good Hawaii offense 34-10 last week. The Aztecs have covered three of four overall, including their only road trip. They’ll take care of business here, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 47.5 (-115) is an attractive number. Sure, Nevada can sling it, but it hasn’t seen a defense like San Diego State yet. Strong will get the most pressure he might see all season, especially with McDonald lurking.

The Under is 3-1 for San Diego State so far, and, surprisingly, the Under is 3-1 for Nevada, including each of the past three. That’s because its opponents have struggled offensively, and San Diego State won’t be much better. The Aztecs are a running team first, and run-first offenses mean run the clock. Under bettors love that.

There is some Moutain West action Thursday night. The Utah State Aggies (0-2) take on the Nevada Wolf Pack (2-0). Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET at Mackay Stadium in Reno. We analyze the Utah State-Nevada college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Utah State at Nevada: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 6:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Utah State +550 (bet $100 to win $550) | Nevada -834 (bet $834 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Utah State +17.5 (-115) | Nevada -17.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 56.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

Utah State at Nevada: Three things to know

  1. Utah State has scored only 20 points through two games so far this season.
  2. Nevada QB Carson Strong has completed 75.9% of his passes for 770 yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions through two games.
  3. The Aggies are 102nd in the nation in total offense and in scoring.

Utah State at Nevada: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Nevada 37, Utah State 13

Money line (ML)

The way the two teams have played this season, the line makes sense, with Nevada as a significant favorite. Utah State’s offense just isn’t much to be worried about this year. That said, at -715, it isn’t worth the money. PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

Nevada has won and covered the spread in both of their games this season. Utah State failed to cover the spread in either of their games. Expect the same outcome Thursday. Take NEVADA -17.5 (-106).

Over/Under (O/U)

Utah State’s offense will make it hard to go Over. If the Aggies can score 10 points, it would require the Wolf Pack to put up almost 50. That probably won’t happen; however, Utah State’s first two games have gone Over, while Nevada’s first two have split going Over once and Under in the other. Take UNDER 56.5 POINTS (-115).
