NBA Twitter reacts to Nets allowing 153 points in Kings loss: ‘A historic embarrassment’

Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Nets allowing 153 points vs. the Kings.

The Sacramento Kings blew out the Brooklyn Nets in shocking fashion, beating Jacque Vaughn’s team 121-153.

Sacramento won its fourth consecutive game, improving to a 7-6 record, while the Nets dropped to 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 6-9 record.

As expected, NBA Twitter had a few things to say about the Nets allowing 153 points from the Kings.

Legend Charles Barkley criticizes NBA over Kyrie Irving situation

NBA Legend and sports personality Charles Barkley called out the NBA after “dropped the ball” on the Kyrie Irving situation.

The Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving has been serving a suspension after tweeting support for an antisemitic film, basketball legend, and sports personality Charles Barkley had some thoughts on the NBA’s handling of the situation.

On a Tuesday morning CNN segment, Barkey claimed that the league “dropped the ball” on the situation. The former NBA MVP said:

People have the right to feel and say what they want to, we have freedom of speech, but there are repercussions when you say certain things.

Barkley continued:

This thing with free speech has really gotten out of hand. You can’t go around insulting people and think it’s OK just because it’s freedom of speech.

The Nets guard has been serving what was originally a five-game suspension but has now extended to six. However, the NBPA has come to the consensus that Irving has been punished fairly and is considering filing a grievance for him.

Former teammate and megastar LeBron James showed support for the guard, believing that the Brooklyn Nets mandates are excessive.

Here’s all you need to know ahead of the Nets’ stop in Sacramento:

Nets’ Kevin Durant calls LeBron James a ‘top-two, top-three player’ ever

Kevin Durant on where he ranks LeBron James all-time.

Brooklyn Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant praised LeBron James as a top three player of all time after suffering a close loss to a LeBron-less Los Angeles Lakers team on Sunday.

In a postgame interview, Durant was asked to reflect on the fact that the two forwards haven’t faced since Christmas of 2018.

“I wasn’t thinking about it until ya’ll started bringing it up, you know,” Durant said. “Obviously, he’s a top-two, top-three player to ever play the game. There’s always going to be excitement when he steps out on the floor.

“We been around for so long that people seen so many battles between us two at the highest stage, you know people look forward to it. I guess it’s cool that we’re still relevant at an old age,” Durant joked.

Durant credited the Anthony Davis pick-and-roll as a challenge for the Nets on defense.

“We was playing in spurts tonight. The perfect storm for them, they made a lot of shots, they got to the rim, the AD pick-and-roll was tough to stop,” Durant said. “I like how we fought, got back into the game in the third quarter. We had a chance to win. But they made more shots down the stretch from us, plain and simple.”

All you need to know ahead of Sunday’s Nets vs. Lakers game in Los Angeles.

The Brooklyn Nets take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Brooklyn Nets have been performing well on the hardwood over the last couple of weeks with a much improved 6-7 record. Despite guard Kyrie Irving’s absence, the Nets have won four of their last five games. Superstar Kevin Durant is carrying a heavy workload for the team, averaging over 30 points per game.

The Lakers are notoriously one of the worst teams in the league right now, with an incohesive game plan and struggling stars. While many expected the LeBron James-led team to be a top Western Conference team, the team has been a disappointment.

Nets at Clippers: Stream, lineups, injury reports and broadcast info

Ahead of Saturday’s matchup, we take a look at the broadcast info and injury report for the Nets game tonight against the Clippers.

The Brooklyn Nets play the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Nets have seemingly gotten their flow as a team down, picking up a couple of big road victories and carrying that momentum forward. Superstar Kevin Durant has been carrying the team’s workload, even earning himself a 29-point triple-double earlier this week.

Playmaking forward Ben Simmons has been sent down to the bench to rotate onto the floor. Star guard Kyrie Irving met with team owner Joe Tsai, per his suspension mandates, which is a sign that he could be returning to basketball soon.

Nets star Kyrie Irving met with owner Joe Tsai, nearing return

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving met with team owner Joe Tsai, indicating that his return to the court should be soon.

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has come under heat after promoting an antisemitic film on Twitter. As part of the required mandates, he met with team owner Joe Tsai.

Sources tell Nets insider Ian Begley that the meeting was positive and it allows for a return to the court for Irving in the near future. The 7-time All-Star is not allowed to return to team activities for at least one more game, but meeting with both Clara and Joe Tsai suggests that Irving could return to the hardwood soon.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke to Irving and reflected on the conversation, declaring that Irving isn’t antisemitic. Silver did admit that the league could have stepped in earlier, but feels that Irving isn’t hateful to any groups.

Former teammate LeBron James chimed in on the situation, criticizing the Nets’ requirements. James believes that Irving should be able to play and called his mandates excessive.

Irving’s relationship with Nike has recently come to an end following the massive amount of criticism from around the league.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver says Kyrie Irving is not antisemitic

NBA commissioner Adam Silver opens up on his conversation with Kyrie Irving.

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving is currently serving a team-imposed suspension for promoting an antisemitic film, and while it’s unclear if Irving will accept the Nets’ return-to-play conditions, the star guard did meet with NBA commissioner Adam Silver this week.

In an interview with the New York Times, Silver spoke about his meeting with Irving, and said that he felt Irving’s suspension was “the right outcome.”

“We had a direct and candid conversation, he’s someone I’ve known for a decade, and I’ve never heard an antisemitic word from him or, frankly, hate directed at any group.”

…. I think that what I understand where things stand is the Nets are looking to make this into a partnership between them and Kyrie Irving as to what remediation is appropriate. Because what is most important here is that the remorse be truly authentic and genuine. And I think that will best come by conditions that are agreed to upon as opposed to imposed on him. Whether or not he is antisemitic is not relevant to the damage caused by the posting of hateful content. I feel that we got to the right outcome here in terms of his suspension,” Silver said. “And in retrospect, we may have been able to get there faster. I accept that criticism. But I felt it was important to understand the context in which it was posted to understand what discipline was appropriate, not in any way to excuse it but to understand what discipline was appropriate.”

On Thursday, LeBron James defended Irving on Twitter, and argued that he should be allowed to return to the court without fulfilling the Nets’ demands.

LeBron James says Kyrie Irving should be able to play

LeBron James defended former teammate Kyrie Irving and said the Nets’ requirements for Irving are “excessive.”

NBA megastar LeBron James took to Twitter to declare that Brooklyn Nets’ guard Kyrie Irving should be able to come back to the court, calling the Brooklyn Nets’ demands “excessive.”

Irving has been suspended indefinitely by the Nets for failing to disavow antisemitism, and the team reportedly delivered to Irving a set of six tasks he must complete before a return can be considered. The Nets want Irving to donate $500k to anti-hate causes, attend sensitivity training and meet with ADL and Jewish leaders, among other requirements. Irving has already issued an apology on Instagram.

Boston’s Jaylen Brown was the first player to publicly speak out about the Nets’ conditions, and said he expects the NBPA to appeal the suspension.

On Thursday, James tweeted that while he doesn’t “believe in sharing hurtful information,” he believes Irving “should be playing.”

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith slammed the Nets’ requirements for Irving, claiming that the organization is trying to “emasculate” Irving.
