The Brooklyn Nets have finally decided to fully embrace a rebuild, starting by trading away Mikal Bridges and reclaiming control over their next two drafts. This strategic shift gives the franchise the flexibility to chart a new course. The big question now is whether Brooklyn will also look to move other key players like Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Dennis Schroeder, who all have potential trade value. Even Nic Claxton, fresh off his offseason re-signing, could become a trade asset when he’s eligible to be moved this season (which is January 15, 2025).

While expectations are low for the Nets, the departure of Bridges opens the door for a new star to take center stage. Cam Thomas, who averaged 22.5 points per game last season, will now have an even larger role, solidifying his rising trajectory. The 22-year-old guard is emerging as a key building block for the team’s future or a valuable trade asset. Meanwhile, Schroeder, coming off a stellar performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics, will run the offense at point guard. Nic Claxton’s new long-term deal provides some stability in the paint for Brooklyn.

Despite this foundation, the Nets seem poised to tank in hopes of landing a top prospect, potentially someone like Cooper Flagg, as they fully commit to a long-term rebuild.

Ziaire Williams: ‘It almost feels like I’m a rookie again’

Ziaire Williams, the Brooklyn Nets’ newly acquired wing, has shown glimpses of his potential as he navigates his early years in the NBA. Standing at 6-foot-9, Williams’ combination of length, versatility, and athleticism positions him as a prospective piece that could become key for the Nets’ rebuilding efforts.

Williams began his career with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he appeared in 150 games through three seasons averaging 7.5 points and 2.6 rebounds. His best season was his rookie campaign, when Williams averaged 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 62 games in 2021-22.

In a chat with HoopsHype, on behalf of Herbalife, Williams opened up about his NBA journey, sharing how he’s focused on leveling up his game and looking forward to a fresh start in Brooklyn.

Nets make deal with Rockets to reacquire 2026 first round pick

The Brooklyn Nets have made a deal with the Houston Rockets to reacquire their 2026 first round pick.

The Brooklyn Nets are currently wheeling and dealing as they head into the offseason. After sending away Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks in a blockbuster deal, the Nets called up the Houston Rockets to reacquire their first round pick.

The Nets made a deal with the Rockets to reacquire their 2026 first round pick that they sent away in the James Harden trade back in 2021. Brooklyn is in the middle of rebuilding its draft stockpile as they look ahead to the future.

The Nets will send Houston a 2027 first round pick via the Phoenix Suns and Houston also acquires a 2025 right to swap Houston/OKC first for the 2025 Suns first-round pick.

It’s obvious that the Nets have understood that this current roster needs to be retooled as they move forward. After sending Bridges to New York for Bojan Bogdanovic and five first round picks, the Nets will bring back another pick that they sent away in the Harden deal. Brooklyn is in a great position for the talented 2025 draft.

Brandon Miller, Noah Clowney show off their jersey numbers

Alabama basketball shares Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney’s new NBA numbers

Last Thursday, [autotag]Brandon Miller[/autotag] and [autotag]Noah Clowney[/autotag] became the first duo of Alabama basketball players to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft since 1995 when Jason Caffey and Antonio McDyess did it. The Charlotte Hornets selected Miller and the Brooklyn Nets chose Clowney.

However, the similarities don’t stop there as Miller and McDyess were both the No. 2 overall picks, the highest in program history. Caffey was then selected 20th overall in 1995 while Clowney went 21st overall this year, resulting in nearly identical drafts 28 years apart.

Today, Alabama basketball shared pictures to social media of Clowney and Miller both in their new uniforms and NBA numbers. Miller will wear No. 24 for the Hornets while Clowney will wear No. 21 for the Nets. The 2023-2024 NBA schedule has not been released yet, but both the Nets and Hornets are in the Eastern Conference and will face off at least three times next season.

NBA Twitter reacts to 76ers’ Game 1 blowout win over Brooklyn: ‘Nets better start game planning for Paul Reed’

Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the 76ers beating the Nets in Game 1.

The Philadelphia 76ers took care of business at home in Game 1 against the Brooklyn Nets, blowing them out 121-101.

Joel Embiid led the way for Philly with 26 points and five rebounds in a game that he got doubled-teamed throughout. James Harden added a double-double with 23 points and 13 assists.

Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the first game of the 2023 NBA playoffs.

NBA releases full schedule for Sixers vs. Nets Round 1 playoff series

The NBA has released the full Round 1 schedule for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets for the playoffs.

As the Philadelphia 76ers get set to take on the Brooklyn Nets in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs beginning on Saturday, nobody knew the rest of the series schedule outside of Game 1.

That mystery is no more as the league released the full first-round series schedule around the league. The Sixers and the Nets will get underway on Saturday at 1 p.m. EDT with Game 2 of that series set for Monday at 7:30 p.m. EDT with both games being at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

The series will then shift north to Brooklyn with Game 3 set for April 20 at 7:30 p.m. EDT and Game 4 will be on April 22 at 1 p.m. EDT. If needed, Game 5 will be on April 24, Game 6 will be on April 27, and Game 7 will be on April 29. Times for those games are yet to be determined.

The Sixers are heavy favorites in this series considering they are led by a star duo in Joel Embiid and James Harden and it is expected that this will be a quick series. Philadelphia will have to take care of business against a scrappy Nets team.

Game 1 of Round 1 for Sixers vs. Nets set for April 15 at 1 p.m. ET

The NBA announces that the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets will begin their series with Game 1 on April 15 at 1 p.m. EDT.

The Philadelphia 76ers are officially done with the regular season following a 134-105 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon at the Barclays Center and their attention now turns toward the postseason when they face that same Nets team.

While neither team played their main players in the finale on Sunday, that will obviously be much different when the teams match up in the postseason.

While the full series schedule isn’t out just yet, the Sixers and the Nets do know when their series will begin. Joel Embiid and the championship minded Sixers will play host to the Nets on April 15 at 1 p.m. EDT.

The Sixers are entering the playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the East and they will be looking to build off a strong regular season and go on a deep run in the postseason. Philadelphia has fallen in Round 2 of the postseason in four of the previous five seasons and they are looking to finally get over the hump this time around.

Sixers will officially face Nets in Round 1 after Heat fell to Wizards

The Philadelphia 76ers will officially take on the Brooklyn Nets in Round 1 of the playoffs after the Miami Heat fell to the Washington Wizards.

The Philadelphia 76ers now know their opponent in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets will finish in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and earn the sixth seed. They claimed the final guaranteed playoff spot in the East when the Miami Heat fell to the Washington Wizards.

The Heat, after they defeated the Sixers rather easily on Thursday, rested Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Kevin Love and Kyle Lowry for this matchup with the Wizards and lost 114-108. The loss locked the Heat into the play-in tournament.

The Nets are leading the Orlando Magic by a wide margin so even if the Heat did defeat the Wizards, Brooklyn was on pace to clinch the final spot by itself anyway.

The Sixers and the Nets will play in the season finale on Sunday at the Barclays Center in a meaningless contest. It will be tough to envision either team playing any of their regulars.

What’s next for Kevin Durant? NBA Twitter reacts: ‘KD to team up with LeBron’

Here’s what NBA Twitter is saying about Kevin Durant’s current situation in Brooklyn.

According to multiple reports from Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski, Kyrie Irving has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

That could perhaps cause Kevin Durant to request a trade out of Brooklyn as well, with the Phoenix Suns reportedly ready to pursue him if he becomes available.

After reacting to the Kyrie news, NBA Twitter also had a few things to say about KD’s situation.
