Nebraska sophomore forward Natalie Potts has had her 2024-25 season cut short. On Wednesday, the 2023-24 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and All-Big Ten Honorable Mentions selection announced she had suffered a torn ACL.
Potts suffered the torn ACL last week in an 85-48 win over North Alabama.
“Husker Nation, I am devastated to announce that I have torn my ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season,” Potts said on X. “Nothing has stopped me before and I surely won’t let this stop me now. This journey will certainly have its challenges but these are challenges that I’m ready to face. As the road to recovery begins I just want to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. I’m surrounded by the best and I can’t wait to support my amazing teammates from the sideline. I’ll be back better and stronger than ever before. As always… GO BIG RED”
The O’Fallon, Missouri native was averaging 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season through five games. Last season, in 35 games, Potts averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 points per game while shooting 48.9% from the field.
The No. 21 Huskers are off to a 5-0 start this season with wins over Omaha, Southeastern Lousiana, Southern, South Dakota, and North Alabama. The Huskers will be back on the court on Friday evening when they’re on the road for a short road trip against Creighton.
