A former Husker is now a part of a professional football club in her home country. Everton Women FC, a club in Liverpool, England, announced that former Nebraska soccer player Eleanor Dale signed with the team.

Everton is a part of the Women’s Super League, the top division of English women’s football. Dale, a native of Billingham, England, joins the Blues following a historic season to conclude her collegiate career at Nebraska. Dale led the nation in goals with 28 on the season and ranked third in Big Ten history in single-season goals.

She also helped the Huskers reach their third Elite Eight appearance in program history. With her total goals, she also broke the school record for goals in a season, which was held by Kim Engesser, who set the record with 27 goals in 1998.

Dale broke the record in Nebraska’s 4-0 victory against UC-Irvine in the Sweet Sixteen to end her career with 44 goals, the sixth-best in school history.

The Huskers finished the season with a record of 17-4-3. That’s the most wins for the soccer program since 2013.

Junior forward Sarah Weber tied the match in regulation with three minutes remaining. Stanford would take the lead in overtime off the foot of Maya Doms.

The game was the Husker’s third NCAA quarterfinal appearance in school history (1996, 1999, 2023). The Cornhuskers are 0-3 all-time in that playoff round.

The Huskers fired off on all-cylinders on offense, finishing with 25 shots and nine on goal. Though the Anteaters only earned 11 shots in the match, eight were on goal. But Sami Hauk faced seven of those shots on goal and stopped all of them, helping to complete the shutout.

Abbey Schwarz struck first for Nebraska, scoring under 14 minutes into the match, putting the Huskers up early. Eleanor Dale then made history, scoring two of Nebraska’s following three goals, setting a new school record for goals in a season. Dale leads the nation with 28 goals on the season, surpassing Kim Engesser, who set the record back in 1998 with 27.

Haley Peterson rounded out Nebraska’s scoring field, nailing her first goal of the season off a corner kick.

Nebraska advances to the Elite Eight and will play either Stanford or Mississippi State. The match time and date are to be determined.

Nebraska finished with just 12 shots in the match, with five on goal. The Lady Volunteers meanwhile delivered eight shots with two on goal. Eleanor Dale concluded the match as the leading shooting, firing four shots with one on goal. However, Dale didn’t put any of her images in the back of the net.

Sarah Weber and Ella Guyott earned the honors of scoring for the Huskers in win, allowing them to reach the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in almost two decades. Weber struck first for Nebraska, landing her goal in the final 30 seconds of the first half, giving her team a 1-0 lead.

Tennessee responded almost immediately in the second half, tying the match 1-1 just three minutes in. It came down to the final minutes of play, as neither team could find a way to break the tie. Then, Jordan Zade took a shot, sending the ball flying towards the net from afar. The shot landed just in front of the left post of the goal, where Guyott stood to put the shot in the back of the net.

With the win, Nebraska advances and will face UC Irvine on Sunday afternoon. The match is set for 1 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN+.

South Dakota State and Nebraska clashed throughout the first half, ending with the Huskers ahead 3-2. Nebraska ran away with the lead in the second half, adding two more goals to secure the win.

Sarah Weber and Sadie Waite scored two goals on the night. Eleanor Dale added to her career year with her 26th goal of the season. Dale is now one goal away from tying the school record for goals in a season. On defense, Sami Hauk secured four saves off six shots on goal faced.

Nebraska advances to the second round of the tournament for the third time in the last ten years. It will either play Tennessee or Xavier and could advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2004. The time and date for the next match is to be determined.

The Huskers tied the Badgers earlier in the season but could not replicate or surpass that previous outcome this time around.

Though Nebraska battled throughout, Wisconsin managed to take the lead and pull away with a 3-1 win. The Huskers outshot the Badgers in the match, 15-10, but only produced four shots on goal, with just one going in. Sarah Weber scored Nebraska’s lone goal, which helped tie the match part way through the first half.

Weber also led the Huskers in shots, producing five in the loss. Wisconsin held Nebraska’s Eleanor Dale to just three shots with one on goal. Wisconsin finished with just one more shot on goal than the Huskers but saw three cross the line for a score.

Nebraska is now 14-3-3 as it now waits for its spot in the NCAA Tournament. The bracket is set to release on Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.

The Huskers brought their offensive firepower in their 3-2 victory over the Buckeyes, finishing with 19 total shots with 11 on goal. The duo of Eleanor Dale and Sarah Weber acted as the driving force for Nebraska, combining for 13 shots, nine on goal and three goals.

Dale scored Nebraska’s first goal and its go-ahead goal in the second half. Weber meanwhile shot the team’s second goal. Ohio State’s two goals came from just five shots on goal in the match.

Dale’s two goals now bring her to a season total of 25, which places her in second in school history, behind Kim Engesser. Dale is also now sixth in school history for career goals with 43.

Nebraska will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the semifinals and will either face Rutgers or Wisconsin on Thursday. No time has been determined, but the match can be viewed on Big Ten Network.

Walker earned Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2013 and was the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 1996 and 1999. He also won the National Coach of the Year award in 1996.

He first came to Lincoln in April of 1994 and has made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances. Under Walker, the Huskers have made eight NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, including two trips to the Elite Eight.

Nebraska will take on Ohio State on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The match will see the Huskers face the Buckeyes in the quarterfinal round of the Big Tne Tournament.

A Nebraska soccer player has been named the Big Ten Forward of the Year.

A Nebraska soccer player has been named the Big Ten Forward of the Year. Eleanor Dale is the first Husker women’s soccer player to earn the conference honor.

Dale led the country in goals (23) and game-winning goals (7). She also led the conference in shots (110), shots on goal (53) and points (50).

The England native now stands at third on Nebraska’s season goal list. She trails Kim Engesser, who scored 26 goals in 1997 and 27 goals in 1998.

Dale was even named to the All-Big Ten First Team with teammate Sarah Weber. Haley Peterson and Jordan Zade were named to the conference Second-Team.

The Nebraska women’s soccer team will take to the field again on Sunday, Oct. 29, at 1:00 p.m. The Huskers will host Ohio State in the quarterfinal round of the Big Ten Tournament.

Nebraska enters the Big Ten Tournament with an overall record of 13-2-3 and a mark of 7-1-2 in conference. The Cornhuskers also enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed.

The team’s only conference defeat came at the hands of the Penn State Nittany Lions, who enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed. The game against the Ohio State Buckeyes can be seen on BIG+.
