Nebraska among top schools for Texas edge rusher Brad Spence

Nebraska makes the top 10 for Texas edge rusher Brad Spence.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers appear to be a step closer to adding another member to their defense. One of their targets includes Klein Forest edge rusher Brad Spence.

Spence was offered a scholarship on Mar. 30, 2022. Greedy Spence announced his top 10 via Twitter. Among the schools include the Arkansas Razorbacks, Texas Longhorns, and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Overall, Spence is listed as the No. 65 edge rusher per 247Sports composite rankings. The edition could help the defense down the road for the Huskers. At this point in time, he hasn’t given a timetable to narrow the list down further or when he will commit.

Nebraska offers Iowa Western defensive lineman

Nebraska’s looking to add some depth to the 2023 recruiting class

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered an Iowa Western CC recruit a chance to continue his playing career beyond the 2022 season. Defensive lineman Anterio Thompson has announced via social media that the Huskers have offered him a scholarship. Thompson was one of the many recruits who participated in a camp on Friday in Lincoln, and it was at that camp that Defensive Coordinator Erik Chinander made the offer. The 6’2″ 300lbs recruit made waves at Friday’s workout when he ran a 4.61 40-yard dash. With someone that big moving that fast, it’s no wonder the Cornhusker’s coaching staff practically made an offer on the spot.

This is Thompson’s second power five offer. The Kansas Jayhawks offered him a scholarship back in May. The Council Bluffs, Iowa native, is a member of the 2023 recruiting class and will play for Iowa Western this upcoming season.

Multiple Big Ten teams have an advantage over Nebraska in the 2023 recruiting class

A new list has been released at the 2023 recruiting class rankings, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers have some catching up to do. In the latest list, the Huskers failed to crack the Top 25, but it does list several Big Ten teams, including multiple West Division opponents. These rankings are nowhere close to set, and there is no doubt that these rankings will see significant changes. Take a look below and see which Big Ten teams currently crack the Top 25.

Nebraska offers Nebraska prep star a scholarship

The Huskers are looking to expand their 2023 recruiting class.

A 3-star athlete out of Fremont, Nebraska, has announced that he has received an offer from the Cornhuskers for the 2023 recruiting class. Kade McIntyre made the offer announcement on social media on Thursday afternoon. McIntyre has played both ways in helping Archbishop Bergan Catholic School win the Class C-2 state title in 2021. On offense, he caught 37 passes for 873 yards and 14 touchdowns, while on defense, he added 63 tackles. He’s projected to play defense at the collegiate level.

There are already three Nebraska High School Football players in the Huskers 2023 recruiting class. Gunnar Gottula of Lincoln Southeast, Benjamin Brahmer of Pierce High, and Sam Sledge of Creighton Preparatory are committed to the 2023 class.

Nebraska’s transfer portal class ranks Top 10

A major recruiting service has ranked the Huskers in the top ten.

A major recruiting service thinks highly of Nebraska’s transfer portal additions heading into the 2022 season. 247Sports has updated its transfer portal rankings, and the Cornhuskers have cracked the top ten. The Cornhuskers currently sit #10 with a composite score of 54.41, right behind #9 Miami (54.72) and just in front of #11 Texas with 54.25.

It should be no surprise that USC is ranked #1, far outdistancing the #2 and #3 teams, Ole Miss and LSU. Rounding out the top ten at #4 Oklahoma, #5 UCLA, #6 Alabama, #7 South Carolina, and  #8 Arkansas. And the Huskers aren’t done as they are hosting former Texas wide receiver Marcus Washington will be making an official visit to Lincoln this weekend.

Look below at some of the significant additions to the Nebraska Cornhuskers heading into the season.

JUCO Lineman to visit Lincoln by month end

Another JUCO prospect may help add depth to the defensive line!

It was back on May 12 that Lewis announced that defensive coordinator Erik Chinander had offered the lineman a scholarship to play for the Cornhuskers.

The 6’3″ 295-pound Lewis is a Kenwood, Illinois native who had been playing defensive tackle for College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. He currently holds six Power Five scholarship offers. Joining the Huskers are Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri, Oregon State and Washington State. The WSU Cougars are the only Power Five school that Lewis has visited during his recruitment process though he does have plans to visit Oregon State later this month as well as Lincoln.
