A Nebraska Football commit attended the Notre Dame/USC game on Saturday. Carter Nelson was spotted in South Bend, Indiana, over the weekend.

Nelson committed to Nebraska back in June. The eight-man recruit chose the Huskers over Notre Dame and Georgia.

The prospect is the first eight-man player from Nebraska to receive an offer from the Cornhuskers since 2002. Iowa’s Seth Malcom, who signed with the Huskers in 2021, was the last eight-man star to sign with Nebraska.

So far this season, Nelson has led Ainsworth High School to an undefeated record. He’s thrown for 492 and six touchdowns, run the ball 81 for 813 yards and 14 touchdowns, and has 22 receptions for 412 yards and ten touchdowns.

Mitch Sherman of The Athletic (subscription required) has reported that Nelson’s father, Jake, told reporters that Carter remains committed to Nebraska and plans on being on Saturday’s game against Northwestern.

A class of 2024 commitment has received his fourth recruitment star. Carlon Jones is a defensive lineman out of Bay City High School in Bay City, Texas.

He was the 2022 Texas District 12-4A D-1 Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Last season he recorded 102 tackles and 13 sacks. Jones also participates in basketball and track and field.

Jones made his commitment on June 29. He made his official visit to Lincoln on June 2. Jones also made official visits to Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State, TCU, California, and UTSA.

The fourth star comes from the national recruiting service 247Sports. He had previously received a fourth-star from On3.

A Husker legacy recruit appears to be trending toward Nebraska. Caleb Benning is a three-star athlete out of Omaha Westside High School.

Caleb Benning is the son of former Nebraska I-back Damon Benning. The elder Benning played for the Cornhuskers from 1993-96, running for 1,562 yards and 20 touchdowns in 42 games.

The recruit has received offers from other programs such as Notre Dame, Michigan, and Iowa. The recruiting service Rivals has recently forecasted that Benning will commit to Nebraska.

Should he commit to the Cornhuskers, it would give the Huskers five of the top seven recruits in the state of Nebraska for the class of 2024. The only two not committed to Huskers are Teddy Rezac (Notre Dame) and Caleb Pyfrom (Decommitted from Illinois).

A Nebraska high school quarterback will be walking on for the Cornhuskers. Senior quarterback Bode Soukup made the announcement on social media on Monday.

I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to play football and continue my education at the University of Nebraska! With that being said, I would like to thank Coach Rhule, Coach Satt, and Coach AD for this opportunity to embrace the walk-on tradition at the University.

In six games this season, the Blair High School quarterback has thrown for 1,048 yards and nine touchdowns. He will be the second QB who is a member of the class of 2024.

A class of 2024 recruit picked up an offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday afternoon. Gregory Smith of Riverview (Fla.) Sumner announced the offer on social media.

“After a talk with (secondary/defensive pass game coordinator) Coach Evan Cooper, I am blessed to receive an offer from the Huskers.”

Smith is a 6-4, 200-pound athlete currently rated three stars by the major recruiting services. The recruit was in Gainesville over the weekend on an unofficial visit.

He has yet to take any official visits and plans on making a visit to Lincoln soon. Smith told recruiting service On3 (subscription required) that he is planning on scheduling a visit in November.

“We are planning on taking an official visit to Nebraska. I didn’t get a chance to schedule one yet. We are still talking.”

The prospect has picked up offers from Florida, Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Nebraska since Thursday.

An Omaha offensive lineman has announced that he is reopening his recruitment.

An Omaha offensive lineman has announced that he is reopening his recruitment. Omaha Central three-star recruit Caleb Pyfrom has decommitted from the University of Illinois.

Pyform committed to Illinois at the end of June. He announced his decision on social media.

“After talking with my family we have decided to open back up my recruitment.”

The 6-4 310-pound prospect is currently ranked as the No. 5 recruit in the state of Nebraska for the class of 2024. The Huskers missed the offensive linemen the first time around but are expected to be in the running the second time around.

Pyfrom is believed to preparing for a visit to campus sometime before the early signing period in December.

A Nebraska legacy recruit will be visiting Nebraska this weekend. Kamdyn Koch is a 6-3, 195-pound kicker/punter from Westminster, Maryland.

Koch committed to Nebraska’s 2024 recruiting class back in June. The specialist is the son of Super Bowl champion Sam Koch.

Sam Koch punted at Nebraska during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. During the 2005 season, He broke the Nebraska single-season punting record with an average of 46.5 yards per punt.

He would be taken in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He would play in Baltimore from 2006-2021, winning Super Bowl XLVII.

The recruit will visit the Lincoln campus this weekend when Nebraska welcomes Northern Illinois to Memorial Stadium. He will be one of several recruits to visit the campus this weekend.

The No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2024 will be making an official visit to Nebraska this weekend. Brandon Baker will be at the home opener this weekend as the Huskers host Northern Illinois.

Baker is a 5-star recruit from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He is currently ranked as one of the players in California and the No. 1 overall offensive lineman in the class of 2024.

The tackle recently announced his Top Five schools on social media. The group includes Nebraska, Florida State, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas.
Baker has confirmed that he will announce his commitment on Sept. 24.

One of Nebraska’s top remaining targets in the class of 2024 has finally announced his commitment.

One of Nebraska’s top remaining targets in the class of 2024 has finally announced his commitment. Wide receiver Gatlin Bair has committed to the Boise State Broncos on Saturday evening.

Bair is the No. 1 recruit in the state of Idaho and the highest-ranked recruit in that state’s history. Last season as a Junior, Bair caught 73 passes for 1,073 yards and 18 touchdowns for Burley High School.

He has been clocked at 10.15 in the 100-meter dash, good for the second-fastest high school time in the country. It’ll be a couple of years before he takes the field.

Instead, he will take a two-year mission trip following his high school graduation. Bair chose Boise State over Nebraska, Michigan, TCU and Oregon.

A class of 2024 pitcher has committed to the University of Nebraska. Blake Encarnacion is a 6-4 175-pound pitcher out of Friendswood, Texas.

He made the announcement on social media.

The right-handed pitcher has a fastball that hits between 86-89 MPH and has topped at 91 MPH. He also has a slider that hits 75-78 MPH and has topped at 80 MPH.
