NBA Twitter reacts to LeBron James taking over in Lakers’ win vs. Jazz

See what Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith and more had to say about LeBron James and the Lakers after a big win vs. Utah.

The Los Angeles Lakers managed a big fourth-quarter comeback against the Utah Jazz, and LeBron James made it happen.

Despite Anthony Davis being ruled out due to an ankle injury just before the first half ended, James and the Lakers went with a small-ball lineup in the final period to get the job done.

The Lakers had trailed by double-digits early in the fourth quarter until James decided it was go time after a quiet first three quarters.

James finished with 33 points on 14-of-23 shooting, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. He had a 3-of-8 clip from deep and made clutch ones down the stretch to take the lead.

NBA Twitter was captivated by Shams-Woj trade deadline scoop-off

Woj and Shams were the underrated story of a hectic day in the NBA.

While NBA fans (understandably) spent Thursday glued to their phones for any tiny morsel of trade deadline news, there was another somewhat overlooked battle that seemed to generate just as much intensity. Forget whether any specific team boosted (or worsened) their chances at a title. Basketball fans were riveted by a back-and-forth scoop-off as news continued to break.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania, a former colleague of ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski in the scoop-trading business, entered the day as a massive underdog. Up until now, Wojnarowski was the undisputed king. He’s a man with over 5 million Twitter followers because he seemingly has a connection to anyone in the NBA with a pulse.

For the first time ever, it appears Charania might have the upper hand (at least today).

For those counting at home, this is indeed The Student defeating The Master. Daniel LaRusso, eat your heart out. Mr. Miyagi, I’m sorry. I mean no disrespect.

Not only did Charania break more NBA deals first during the deadline — but he also had the most critical deal first:

The move that sent James Harden to Philadelphia and Ben Simmons to Brooklyn.

I don’t know what this says about the state of social media in 2022 that this horse race becomes something we have to track when it comes to reporting. Never mind that a platform like Twitter has only about 20 percent of the active U.S. population registered (not all of which are genuine profiles with real people). I’m not smart enough for that sort of introspection. Okay, I am, but that’s beside the point. We’re having fun here, alright?

On a gloomy, cold February day in early 2022 (Common Era), Charania seized the crown of NBA Twitter through his most trusted, legendary weapon: Excali-Phone. A new era of information trading set upon the basketball social media populace.

NBA Twitter reacts to Lakers’ terrible loss to Trail Blazers

See what NBA Twitter, like Skip Bayless and Magic Johnson, had to say about the L.A. Lakers losing to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Without Damian Lillard and having just traded C.J. McCollum, Norman Powell, Robert Covington and more, the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers.

Though the Lakers didn’t have Russell Westbrook (lower back tightness) for the first time this season, this goes down as an inexcusable loss to a team clearly trying to tank.

The Lakers were outhustled in multiple statistics: turnovers, points off turnovers, offensive rebounds, fast break points — the list can continue. But the point is clear: L.A. desperately needs changes.

NBA Twitter did not hold back on the Lakers after this loss, including franchise legend Magic Johnson and Skip Bayless. See the best reactions below:

NBA Twitter wants Russell Westbrook gone after disastrous game vs. Knicks

NBA Twitter wants Russell Westbrook off the Los Angeles Lakers after yet again another abysmal performance.

The Los Angeles Lakers managed a 21-point comeback against the New York Knicks on Saturday, but Russell Westbrook was flamed for his performance.

After the Lakers started badly, the pressure to chip away at the lead increased. But after Westbrook yet again missed a bank shot badly, the home crowd in L.A. booed the former MVP.

Westbrook finished with five points on 1-of-10 shooting overall. He went 3-of-7 from the charity stripe and missed two attempts late in the game that kept the door open for a Knicks comeback, which they did to force overtime.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel benched Westbrook for overtime, and NBA Twitter voiced their displeasure with his play, including wanting him gone from the team:

NBA Twitter reacts to Lakers’ tough loss to the Clippers

See what NBA Twitter had to say after the Lakers dropped a heartbreaker to the Clippers.

The Los Angeles Lakers again fell three games below .500 after losing to the L.A. Clippers by one point.

The Battle of L.A. once again had key stars out: LeBron James for the Lakers and Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for the Clippers.

Still, both teams delivered an extremely entertaining contest that escalated in the fourth quarter. The Clippers established a 17-point lead in the third quarter after making tough baskets, but Russell Westbrook woke up and ignited a late comeback.

The Lakers eventually took the lead and had the Crypto.com Arena crowd on its feet despite it technically being a Clippers home game. However, Anthony Davis’ last-second floater at the buzzer went in and out.

NBA Twitter reacts to Russell Westbrook’s scoring explosion vs. Hornets

See what NBA Twitter, like Stephen A. Smith and Magic Johnson, had to say about Russell Westbrook’s big game for the Lakers vs. Hornets,

Russell Westbrook turned in his best game for the purple and gold as the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Charlotte Hornets Friday.

With LeBron James and Anthony Davis out with injuries, the Lakers needed Westbrook to step up if the squad wanted any chance at winning.

Westbrook did just that. After a five-point first half, the former MVP turned on the jets in the second half and dropped 30 points. Without his scoring explosion, the Lakers don’t have a chance at being alive for the final possession, which came down to Westbrook’s 3-point attempt.

Though it didn’t fall, Westbrook finished with 35 points on 12-of-23 shooting overall, 3-of-7 from deep and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe — a commendable effort given the situation.

NBA Twitter reacts to Anthony Davis outplaying Sixers’ Joel Embiid

See what NBA Twitter had to say about Anthony Davis’ big game against Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid.

The Los Angeles Lakers may not have beaten the Philadelphia 76ers, but seeing Anthony Davis’ performance felt like a victory for the squad.

Davis has experienced an up-and-down season with expectations battling reality. With LeBron James out for the Sixers match, the load at both ends transferred to his shoulders.

Davis responded in a big way in his matchup with Joel Embiid, who has been on a dominant tear as of late.

AD put up 31 points on 14-of-21 shooting to go with 12 rebounds, four blocks, two steals and an assist in 34 minutes. This was his second game back from injury, but he did not play like it.

He had his way against Embiid on both ends of the floor even though it resulted in a loss, but NBA Twitter enjoyed seeing Davis return to his supreme ways:

NBA Twitter reacts to Lakers’ big home win vs. Jazz

See what NBA Twitter had to say after the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Utah Jazz in a big win at home.

Whether it was the Los Angeles Lakers‘ biggest win of the season is debatable, but the victory over the Utah Jazz will go down as an important one.

A day removed from losing to the Denver Nuggets by 37 points, one of the worst losses of the season, the Lakers responded with one of their best wins, beating a top team in the Western Conference, Utah.

The Jazz came in with the highest-scoring offense in the league and the Lakers with one of the worst defenses, especially without Anthony Davis. However, L.A. held Utah to 95 points, about 20 short of its average.

LeBron James led the way with 25 points, but Stanley Johnson, Austin Reaves, Malik Monk and Talen Horton-Tucker (they are the only reserves who played) all came up huge in the win, primarily Johnson’s 15-point display on 7-of-9 shooting.

NBA Twitter reacts to Lakers’ 37-point loss to Nuggets

NBA Twitter blasted the Los Angeles Lakers after a dismal performance against the Denver Nuggets.

It’s now three straight games the Los Angeles Lakers have lost after going two games above. 500.

The Lakers have dropped games to the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets, but the loss to Denver marked arguably the worst loss of the season for L.A.

Los Angeles lost 133-96, a 37-point differential for a team that hopes to be in the title conversation come playoff time.

The Nuggets shot 57.5% from deep on 40 attempts, and rookie Bones Hyland erupted for 27 points on 6-of-10 3-point shooting. Nikola Jokic dropped a 17-point, 13-assist, 12-rebound triple-double in 28 minutes.

NBA Twitter reacts to LeBron James’ takeover against the Kings

NBA Twitter exploded after Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James dropped 14 of his 31 points in the 4th quarter to beat the Sacramento Kings.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James once had a 1-of-8 clip from downtown in the fourth quarter against the Sacramento Kings.

His legs looked out of gas because his shot just didn’t have enough juice to it. It was shaping up to be a rare bad game from the 37-year-old star, who has been on an incredible tear lately.

But, moments later, he showed why he has been labeled “The King” for 19 years.

James hit his next two attempts from downtown, made easy layups to cut into the deficit and put the cherry on top with a clutch and-1 basket in the final minute, despite missing the free throw. He scored 14 of his 31 points in the fourth.
