See where JD Davison, Keon Ellis land in latest 2022 NBA mock draft

Two former Crimson Tide stars get selected in the latest 2022 NBA mock draft!

Alabama’s 2021-2022 men’s basketball season did not go the way many had hoped. The Crimson Tide made the NCAA Tournament, but was bounced in the first round by Notre Dame.

Numerous players are transferring from the program, few are returning and others are entering the NBA draft.

In the latest 2022 NBA mock draft done by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz.

The mock draft features two former Crimson Tide stars in [autotag]JD Davison[/autotag] and [autotag]Keon Ellis[/autotag].

Though they are both second-round picks, it is likely they will be on an NBA roster. [autotag]Herb Jones[/autotag] on the New Orleans Pelicans is a prime example.

ESPN does not offer explanations for the two picks, but both teams are loaded with young and rising talent. Both Davison and Ellis carry unique skills that could make them valuable players for their potential respective programs.

First … JD Davison

2022 NBA mock draft predicts landing spots for JD Davison and Keon Ellis

See where these Alabama MBB stars are projected to begin their NBA careers!

Alabama men’s basketball’s 2021-2022 season did not go the way many had hoped. Making the NCAA tournament without any fear of being left out on the wrong side of the bubble is a step in the right direction, but there are many areas to improve on. Next season, those improvements will need to be made without [autotag]JD Davison[/autotag] and [autotag]Keon Ellis[/autotag].

Those two players will not be returning to Alabama, or college basketball for that matter. Davison and Ellis have their eyes set on the NBA.

Davison was a one-and-done player and was originally expected to be a first-round pick in the 2022 NBA draft. However after a somewhat underwhelming season, his projection has dropped.

Ellis, however, has worked his way into a projected draft position after a strong season.

Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated recently shared his full 2022 NBA mock draft and includes both Davison and Ellis in round No. 2.

First … JD Davsion

Warriors land Tennessee guard Kennedy Chandler in latest ESPN mock draft

In the latest NBA mock draft from ESPN, the Golden State Warriors added Tennessee guard Kennedy Chandler in the first round.

While the Golden State Warriors are ramping up for a run to the postseason during the final stretch of the NBA season, it’s never too early to prepare for draft season.

Before college basketball ramps up for March Madness, Jonathan Givony of ESPN released his latest mock draft. Although the Warriors likely won’t have a pick in the lottery like the previous pair of drafts, Steve Kerr and Bob Myers have had success at the back end of the first round with picks like Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney.

In Givony’s mock draft, the Warriors landed Tennessee guard Kennedy Chandler with the No. 28 overall pick. The 6-foot-1 freshman is averaging 13.6 points on 44.9% shooting from the field with 4.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 30.6 minutes for the Volunteers.

In Rookie Wire’s mock draft from mid-Jan., Chandler came off the board at No. 14 overall. According to Cody Taylor of Rookie Wire, Chandler’s an athletic point guard with the ability to create for himself and his teammates.

Via Rookie Wire:

Chandler is averaging 13.6 points, 4.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 14 games this season. He entered the season known as an athletic point guard that can create for himself and others. That has been on display throughout the season. Chandler produced a career-high 27 points on Dec. 4 as his 13 field goals in that contest were the most by a Volunteers player since 2013. He is a solid 3-point shooter, converting 33.3% of his attempts this season and could be a good floor-spacer at the next level.

Chandler recently helped Rick Barnes and Tennessee secure wins over top-rated rivals Kentucky and Auburn in the SEC. Chandler tallied double-figures in scoring in each game for the No. 17 ranked team in the country.

Chandler will be a name to keep an eye on when it’s time to fill out your bracket in March.

JD Davison projected to land with reigning NBA Champions in latest 2022 mock draft

Davison has a solid first-round projected landing spot!

Alabama true freshman guard JD Davison joined the Crimson Tide likely expecting the 2021-2022 season to be the only year he spends at the collegiate level. While his play began rocky this season, his dominance is beginning to shine through and the excitement he brings to the court never goes unnoticed.

Davison, in the latest 2022 NBA mock draft done by Krysten Peek from Yahoo!, is projected to be selected at No. 23 overall to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks are currently the most recent NBA Champions, defeating the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals.

There is still plenty of time left in both the NBA and college season for things to change, but for now, having Davison join the Bucks sounds like a solid starting point for his NBA career.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Davison and other NBA-hopeful members of the Crimson Tide men’s basketball team.

Michigan State basketball SG Max Christie listed in Top-20 of latest Bleacher Report NBA Mock Draft

Michigan State freshman guard Max Christie listed in Top-20 of latest Bleacher Report NBA Mock Draft

There are many questions hovering around this year’s Michigan State basketball team, but one that no one seems to have any answers about is Max Christie’s future. If he does decide to leave after this season, most outlets, including the latest NBA mock draft from Bleacher Report, seem to have him locked in as a top-20 pick.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman currently has him projected to be taken at No. 19 by the Denver Nuggets.

Here is what Wasserman said about the Spartans’ shooting guard:

‘Shooting 51.6 percent from three over Michigan State’s last eight games, Christie now has scouts attention after an off start to the season. Between his 6’6″ size, mechanics, shot-making versatility and discipline, it’s easy to picture his fit as an off-ball scorer and interchangeable wing.’

The freshman guard has shown great prowess as a defender and a pretty, shooting stroke that has NBA scouts drooling. But, will Christie try and jump to the NBA early? Some, including myself, think he could benefit from another year in the weight room before throwing himself in the NBA fire. Many MSU fans still remember the story of Deyonta Davis, and have seen how staying an additional season has helped someone like Miles Bridges blossom into a star at the next level.

Warriors land Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan in Rookie Wire’s NBA mock draft 2.0

In @RookieWire’s NBA mock draft 2.0, the Golden State Warriors landed Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan at No. 29.

While most of the focus around the Golden State Warriors has been on a push back to the postseason, it’s never too early to keep an eye on the NBA draft.

Although Bob Myers and Steve Kerr likely won’t have a pick at the top of the draft to acquire a prospect like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga or Moses Moody, there will still be players available that can help extend the Warriors’ window when they hit the clock.

Before the All-Star break, Rookie Wire dropped their mock draft 2.0 that included three picks for the Warriors.

With the No. 29 overall pick in Rookie Wire’s mock draft 2.0, the Warriors landed Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan. According to Rookie Wire’s Cody Taylor, Sochan is a forward that can impact the game in a variety of ways.

Via Rookie Wire:

Sochan has become an excellent defender this season, something that would fit into the defensive philosophy instilled by the Warriors. He has the size to handle the physicality and has shown an ability to shoot from beyond the arc. Averaging 7.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, two assists and 1.1 steals, Sochan affects games in a variety of ways, an ability teams may covet at this point of the draft. Some believe he is not a sure-fire one-and-done prospect, but that could change with more strong performances this season.

In 17 games with Baylor, the 6-foot-9 18-year-old is averaging 8.3 points on 50.5% shooting from the floor with 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest. In a recent battle against Alabama, Sochan notched a career-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor with eight boards, two steals and an assist in 32 minutes.

Jabari Smith goes first overall in latest NBA mock draft

Jabari Smith goes first overall in this mock draft.

Jabari Smith may be the best player in college basketball.

In the latest NBA mock draft done by The Athletic (paid), Smith went first overall to the Detroit Pistons.

Sam Vecenie wrote the following when breaking down the pick.

“I have Smith at No. 1 entering the new year, but it’s a razor-thin margin between him, Banchero and Holmgren. Why Smith? I think his upside is juuuuust a bit higher than the other two if everything breaks right with his game. He’s one of the best shooting big men to enter college hoops in a long time. His percentages going back to high school are terrific, his marks so far at Auburn are great and his mechanics are pristine. At 6-foot-10, he can grab and go on the break and create havoc with his ability to get his own shot.

“He can pull up from midrange or from 3. He’s averaging 16 points and seven rebounds per game while playing solid defense for the Tigers. He’s switchable on the perimeter and has good weakside rotational instincts.”

Smith has been a treat to watch this season as he leads Auburn into the top 10 in all major polls

2 Alabama MBB players selected in latest 2022 NBA mock draft

These two Alabama MBB stars are expected to be drafted to the league!

Alabama has seen a few players make it to the NBA in recent seasons, under both Avery Johnson and Nate Oats. Collin Sexton has found himself a nice career in the league, while Herb Jones, Kira Lewis and Josh Primo are making their young presences felt.

As Oats brings in top talent from across the nation, it will become commonplace for Crimson Tide stars to leave the program early. Whether it be a one-and-done, a player that finds success in his sophomore or junior season or even a transfer, it will happen more often.

The latest 2022 NBA mock draft done by ESPN exemplifies two of the aforementioned examples.

In the second round, pick No. 48 overall, ESPN projects the Sacramento Kings to select senior guard Keon Ellis, who transferred to Alabama from Florida Southwestern State College.

However, much closer to the start of the draft is a true freshman being selected out of Alabama.

At No. 13 overall, the Toronto Raptors are expected to take J.D. Davison off the board.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Crimson Tide basketball, as well as projections for the 2022 NBA draft and how it impacts Alabama players.

Sixers 2022 NBA mock draft: TyTy Washington is a smooth scoring guard

A 2022 NBA mock draft has the Philadelphia 76ers selecting Kentucky guard TyTy Washington.

The Philadelphia 76ers are 18 games into the 2021-22 season and they have been solid thus far. The 10-8 record is mostly due to playing a lot of games without Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Danny Green and Matisse Thybulle. They were 8-2 when everybody was healthy.

Therefore, the team’s focus is not on the 2022 NBA draft. Nonetheless, it is fun to look at some mock drafts and see what prospects might be available when the draft does come around.

A mock draft performed by Bryan Kalbrosky over at For The Win has the Sixers selecting TyTy Washington out of Kentucky. Philadelphia, at the moment, has the 13th pick in his draft:

The Philadelphia 76ers have found a gem with a former Kentucky guard, Tyrese Maxey, and could look to do it again with TyTy Washington. He has one of the prettiest jumpers in the nation and he is someone who could thrive in a complementary role or as a microwave scorer off of the bench.

Washington is averaging 15.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 46.2% from the floor through the first five games with Kentucky. He can heat up in a hurry and handle the ball, so it would be interesting to see where he ends up. He would be a nice addition to Philadelphia’s bench, but he is a likely lottery pick and the Sixers will not be in the lottery unless something catastrophic happens.
