Shai Gilgeous-Alexander labeled a ‘Drip King’ by Tristan Thompson

The veteran Cavaliers center posted a picture of the duo on Twitter Wednesday, captioning it ‘Drip Kings’ and tagging Gilgeous-Alexander.

There are definitely worse things to be called.

Cleveland Cavaliers center, Tristan Thompson, labeled his fellow Canadian, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a ‘drip king’ on Wednesday afternoon.

Like many players throughout the NBA, the veteran was apparently looking to kill some time while the league is on indefinite hiatus and came across an old picture of the pair.

There’s no additional context about when the photo was originally taken, but based on the colors in the background it likely came from the Thunder’s road trip to Cleveland at the beginning of January (in case anyone was worried that Thompson and Gilgeous-Alexander weren’t following physical distancing recommendations).

Thompson clearly liked the way he and SGA looked, captioning the shot ‘Drip Kings’ and tagging Gilgeous-Alexander in a Twitter post.

Thompson’s not lying about drip. He’s rocking a $6,500 embroidered Gucci shearling denim jacket while Gilgeous-Alexander has on a pair of blue and white Louis Vuitton monogram pants.

Gilgeous-Alexander has also been showing off his fits while the league is halted due to the health risk posed by the coronavirus.

He’s been sharing various videos on Tik Tok dancing in his bathroom and also posting pictures from his closet on Instagram, popularizing the hashtag #quarantinefits.

Chris Paul: All-Star. All style. He’s at No. 5 in the latest rankings

Paul showed out in Chicago in a Pyer Moss fit complete with a mustard yellow beanie and white non-high top Nike Air Jordan Ones.

Chris Paul spent the weekend in Chicago sporting All-Star style both on and off the court.

All-Star Weekend not just about the competitions, contests, and challenges. It’s also an opportunity for the league’s biggest stars to show up and show out at various events, dinners, and parties that accompany the festivities.

Paul is no stranger to The Athletic’s NBA Style Power Rankings and has taken the top spot on several occasions this season.

For his fit in Chicago, however, Paul landed squarely in the middle of the list, coming in at No. 5 in his Pyer Moss Cropped Trucker Jacket and “Rock Me” track pants.

NBA players will singlehandedly be putting Kirby Jean-Raymond’s great grandchildren through college at this rate. That’s how much the young Haitian American designer’s brand Pyer Moss is beloved around the league. It’s hard to go a week or even a day without spotting an NBA guy in one of fashion’s trendiest brands. All-Star weekend was no different for Chris Paul, who has been consistently sporting the brand all season.

However, Paul’s ensemble wasn’t completely exempt from criticism.

Overall, we mostly enjoyed the look, but wish Paul didn’t go all match matchy on us with that yellow beanie. And for the 10000000th week in a row, we wish he’d let go of his addiction to non-hightop Nike Air Jordan Ones.

A look at some of the best looks that landed Paul on the list earlier in the season:

Russell Westbrook has ‘zero regrets’ about his time in OKC

Westbrook wore a sweatshirt that said ‘Zero Regrets’ when he walked into Chesapeake Energy Arena ahead of Thursday night’s game vs. OKC.

Russell Westbrook has always been one to make a statement.

Especially when it comes to his fashion.

So it’s no surprise that the Rockets guard took the opportunity on Thursday to send a message to his former organization through the shirt he wore when walking into Chesapeake Energy Arena ahead of Houston’s game against the Thunder.

Zero Regrets.

The words emblazoned on the front of Westbrook’s sweatshirt.

And in case there was any question as to their meaning, Mark Medina of USA Today, pointed out was on the back.

On the back of Westbrook’s sweatshirt read: 1 team, 11 seasons, 821 games, 28,330 minutes, 18.559 points, 6.897 assists, 5.760 rebounds, 138 triple doubles, 8x All-Star, 1x MVP and 0 Regrets. Underneath the “No Regrets” tagline on the front of Westbrook’s shirt read: “Thank you Oklahoma City.”

Thursday night was the first time that Westbrook had been back to Oklahoma City since being traded to the Rockets for Chris Paul and draft picks during the offseason.

He received an emotional tribute video prior to the start of the game and then a loud standing ovation from fans when he was announced during starting lineups.

The fans showed that despite his departure for Houston, Westbrook is still loved in the city where he first built his career.

Likewise, Westbrook showed the people of Oklahoma City that there are no hard feelings and that he has zero regrets about the 11 years he spent in OKC.

Chris Paul back to No. 1 in NBA Style Power Rankings

From bespoke three-piece suits to turtlenecks paired with tailored slacks, Chris Paul was giving off major MVP vibes this week.

Is it any real surprise that a guy that bought 13 custom suits for his entire team would be anywhere else on an NBA style list than at No. 1?

Chris Paul regained the top spot in The Athletic’s NBA Style Power Rankings this week, thanks in part to the bespoke three-piece FRÈRE suits he gifted his teammates.

And honestly, the argument could be made that Paul should’ve earned the No. 1 ranking simply because he’s the first person in years to get Steven Adams into a pair of real pants and shoes.

However, it’s not just about the fact that Paul bought designer suits. It’s also about which designer CP3 went with to create the custom looks.

Rather than opting for one of the tried and true stalwarts in the field of men’s suits — be it Tom Ford or Armani — instead the brand was that of a young, black, American designer. The type of person who traditionally doesn’t get this kind of spotlight in that industry.

But, as noted by Wosny Lambre, Paul’s generosity isn’t the only reason that the veteran point guard landed on the list.

Turtlenecks continue to dominate the season and Paul went back to the well in an aqua-blue neck hugger. Need we even mention how scrumptious the jacket of the same hue was? Superbly tailored gray slacks to boot?! The simple yet timeless Nike Tailwind 79 added to the breathlessness vibe of the entire ensemble. Chris Paul is putting together an MVP level season in personal style.

This isn’t the first time that Paul has taken the top spot.

CP3 also landed at No. 1 in November, a Pyer Moss pinstripe jacket paired with an Ambush hoodie and Air Jordan’s was a standout look in what, so far, has been a season full of them.

Steven Adams: Next time to wear a suit is ‘at my funeral’

Chris Paul gifted his teammates custom-tailored Frere suits that they wore for ‘Suit Night’ ahead of their game Wednesday vs. the Grizzlies.

It takes a lot to get Steven Adams into a suit.

But Chris Paul gifting his Thunder teammates with custom-tailored Frere suits is a special occasion.

As part of a coordinated team plan to wear the new suits ahead of Oklahoma City’s game on Wednesday night, Adams donned the new threads, pairing his navy three-piece suit with a cobalt tie, crisp white button-down, and chestnut-colored loafers. He pulled the look together with a herringbone cap.

While his teammates’ game day fashion choices leave the player’s walk-in looking more like a catwalk, Adams is usually seen in sweats and sandals. His preferred choice of headwear, a fuzzy camo-print hunter’s hat with earflaps.

Adams looked dapper, there’s no doubt about it. But had it not been the entire team donning the new duds, Adams told Royce Young of ESPN he wouldn’t have worn the suit.

“He (Chris Paul) was like, ‘Wear it to the game, it’s a team thing,'” Adams said. “I was like, ‘Ah (expletive), I have to wear it.’ I was just gonna hang it up.”

But when Paul calls and says, “wear the suit”, you wear the suit.

The last time that Adams can remember wearing a suit was to Russell Westbrook’s Oklahoma Hall of Fame event… in 2016.

“I didn’t realize how much time it takes to put on all that (expletive),” he said. “It’s a lot longer than I take normally. I didn’t account for it. I was just like, ‘Eh, (expletive) this, mate.'”

“A lot of buttons, a lot of weird little things,” he said. “It’s a three-piece suit, which means more buttons. … But it’s all pre-made Italian stuff.”

In fact, he told Maddie Lee of The Oklahoman, that he needed help putting together the finished look.

“I didn’t even know what I looked like, mate,” Adams said. “I didn’t look in the mirror, had to get the valet dudes to kind of clean me up a bit. My collar was off and everything.”

Just because he showed out for “Suit Night”, don’t expect the look to become a staple in Adams’ wardrobe. When asked when the next time he’ll show up in a suit would be, in typical fashion, Adams answered, “my funeral, mate”.

Chris Paul bought custom tailored suits for Thunder teammates

Oklahoma City showed up to Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday in custom-tailored suits bought for them by Chris Paul.

Chris Paul is no stranger to style.

He’s got his own flair both on and off the court, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed this season. Earlier this year, Paul topped The Athletic’s NBA Style Power Rankings.

But Paul wanted to make sure that his teammates got in on the game day drip, gifting them all custom suits that they wore to Oklahoma City’s game against the Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

According to The Oklahoman, Paul came up with the idea over the summer. He had a tailors come to take the initial measurements, then final adjustments and the suits arrived on Wednesday morning.

Paul said the idea came from him remembering what it was like to be young and not having much.

“I remember as a young guy, you don’t necessarily have different things or whatnot,” Paul said. “And it was just a gift. A gift to guys. Baze (rookie Darius Bazley) said this is the first suit he ever had, so to see him, it’s cool. And the cool part about it is not even what it is. It’s that we did it together.”

An incredibly generous gesture by Paul made even more special by the fact that the players got to do this together.

“I thought it was a cool team bonding experience,” Muscala told The Oklahoman. “… The best part was seeing everybody walk in because you’re not used to seeing a lot of guys wear suits.”

There’s no doubt that everyone looked fresh in their suits.

Hamidou Diallo, in a light gray windowpane plaid Frere suit he paired with a charcoal gray turtleneck and Alexander McQueen white sneakers said he “felt like a million dollars”.

But maybe no one stood out as much as Steven Adams, who is known for his eccentric taste in pre-game fashion.

In a video posted to the Thunder’s Instagram, Dennis Schroder is heard yelling, “oh that’s clean boy” as Adams enters the locker room.
