What are the player ratings for the Boston Celtics in NBA 2K24?

Can you guess the player ratings for the core members of the Boston Celtics in NBA 2K24?

The Boston Celtics are poised to be one of the best teams in basketball heading into next year both on the court and in the digital realm. According to the latest player ratings for the hit video game NBA 2K24, the Celts are loaded with talent with the 2023-24 regular season campaign just weeks away. Each iteration of the game unleashes a flurry of commentary, specifically around player ratings. NBA 2K’s marketing guru Ronnie 2K recently spoke with USA Today SMG about the process behind setting these numbers, as well as what he thinks of the new-look Celtics.

The ratings do change throughout the season, but for now, Ronnie 2K believes Boston has one of the most potent cores in the league. That’s reflected in the large number of highly-rated players on the Celtics roster, which were released ahead of the game’s launch on September 8.

Boston’s superstar forward Jayson Tatum is one of the highest-rated players in the game. But what about his teammates? What are the player ratings for the Boston Celtics in NBA 2K24?

As NBA 2K24 debuts, a look back at Ronnie 2K’s thoughts on Victor Wembanyama

Ronnie 2K had some high praise for San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.

The San Antonio Spurs are currently in the middle of their worst stretch in franchise history. They’ve missed the playoffs in four straight seasons, marking their longest drought ever. However, they were rewarded for their losing efforts this summer, as they were able to select Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

And with all the hype around Wembanyama coming into the draft, he was bound to gain some popularity. Everyone from the fans to the media knows about the Frenchman, and that includes Ronnie 2K, the face of the NBA 2K franchise. NBA 2K24, the latest installment of the franchise, just released.

At the beginning of August, USA Today’s Cameron Tabatabaie sat down with Ronnie 2K to talk about the game and, more specifically, Wembanyama.

“Super, super charismatic,” he said about Wembanyama. “I think he was really absorbing the experience.

“Those first few days in summer league were challenging for him, and that’s where we shot that spot. He had just come from France, he had a tough first game. He had a lot of people questioning him, and then he had a monster second game. We shot in the middle of that. The guy was confident, high-spirited and just really a pleasure on set. I really look forward, obviously with his tremendous potential, to working with him a ton more in his career.”

Ronnie 2K also spoke about Wembanyama’s rating in NBA 2K24, which came in at an 84 overall to open the year.

“It is one of the highest rookie ratings ever,” he said. “We had Zion at an 81.

“The ratings scale drastically changed around NBA 2K15. That’s where it got really hard, as we were adding all the legends so the rating thing became a little bit more challenging since that time.”

Wembanyamna should be one of the most exciting rookies in the league next year.

Complete OKC Thunder player ratings list for NBA 2K24

Take a look at Thunder players’ initial NBA 2K24 ratings as the game hits the public:

Friday marked the release of NBA 2K24, which means another round of updated player ratings has become public.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the more intriguing teams in this year’s video game. They enter the 2023-24 season with higher expectations following an overachieving campaign last year.

The Thunder are ranked in Tier 2, which puts them in the middle class of the league.

After establishing himself as one of the best players in the league last season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s initial overall rating reflects that. He has the 13th-best rating.

Let’s look at what each Thunder player’s overall rating is as the game becomes publicly available. It’s important to note Vasilije Micic and Keyonte Johnson are not in the game. They will be added at the next roster update, so an overall rating is not available.

NBA 2K24 reveals Spurs ratings for Wembanyama, Vassell, and more

Check out what ratings NBA 2K24 gave the San Antonio Spurs’ top players.

Heading into next season, the San Antonio Spurs roster will look reasonably similar to what it was last year, outside of one sizeable French difference. Victor Wembanyama‘s presence in the lineup should open things up for his Spurs teammates, and the organization will undoubtedly hope to see some significant progression from some of their other guys, too.

But what do people outside the organization think of the Spurs? More specifically, what does NBA 2K think of the Spurs? Well, the Spurs recently tweeted a graphic that revealed some of their players’ top ratings in NBA 2K24, with Wembanyama leading the charge.

He’s sitting at an 84 overall, with Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, Jeremy Sochan, and Zach Collins following behind him.

NBA 2K will celebrate 50th anniversary of hip hop with loaded 2K24 soundtrack

NBA 2K24 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop with a star-studded soundtrack.

The hit video game NBA 2K has become more than just a digital platform for basketball fans in recent years. The makers of the game have incorporated fashion, sneakers and music into the action, making each iteration of NBA 2K a snapshot of culture around the world. NBA 2K24 will continue that mission, this time celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip hop with a loaded soundtrack spanning the genre’s history.

In the past, 2K has partnered with artists such as Jay-Z, J. Cole and more in developing what 2K Sports calls the “gold standard for soundtracks” in video games. In 2K24, there will be tracks from Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Kodak Black, and many of today’s biggest hip hop artists as well as songs that have become genre standards like cherished favorites like “This DJ” by Warren G and “Hustlin” by Rick Ross.

As the season goes on, new songs will be added throughout the year. And yes, Lil Wayne’s 2009 song “Kobe Bryant” is included in the NBA 2K24 soundtrack, a fitting nod to this year’s cover athlete.

NBA 2K24’s city is the perfect ‘fantasy vacation escape’

NBA 2K24’s city is better than ever, 2K’s VP of NBA development Erick Boenisch tells GLHF, with new factions and a new approach to rewards

NBA 2K24’s city is better than ever, 2K’s VP of NBA development Erick Boenisch tells GLHF, with two new factions and a refined approach to rewards. Rep is back as well, with some improvements that give you more to think about when planning your character.

Boenisch says the team wanted to make a ‘fantasy vacation escape’ in the sports game, so they drew inspiration from Miami for NBA 2K24’s city and brought it to life with close attention to detail. Beaches and byways are full of people, lifeguards patrol the sands, and you’ll even find people playing casual ball on the sandy beach courts.

NBA 2K24’s factions are Rise and Elite, two rival teams with fantastically themed arenas  Rise plays on an Atlantis-themed court, with extravagant statues and water motifs, and Elite sets up in a nightlife-inspired futuristic arena, with brilliant neon lights and, Boenisch says, “all the good vibes at night.”

You start as an unaffiliated player, so you’ve got time to check out which faction appeals to you the most before making your choice. The factions face off once per season, and the winning team gets little memorials scattered throughout the city that highlight top performers during the finals.

Boenisch says the rep system is more streamlined in NBA 2K24. You start as a rank 1 rookie and work your way to the top 10, but rep carries over every year now and no longer resets like it used to. Affiliating yourself with a faction earns you special rewards as you level up your rep, and what you get depends on which faction you joined. These rewards help boost certain performance stats, such as ball handling, so you might want to think of the broader picture for your custom player before choosing an alliance.

Finally, the city introduces a few new modes. One is Streetball Quest, a string of single-player matches against tough opponents with unique objectives, and you get takeover perks if you win. There’s also Starting 5, an online mode where you play against another player in your same position – a point guard, for example, or a power forward

NBA 2K24’s MyCareer mode is all about freedom and flexibility

NBA 2K24’s MyCareer is all about freedom after fans pointed out how choppy and disconnected the sports game’s mode was in previous years

NBA 2K24’s MyCareer is all about freedom, 2K’s VP of NBA development Erick Boenisch tells GLHF. Fans pointed out how choppy and disconnected the sports game’s mode was in previous years, when you were limited to a set number of games before having to run around and do a bunch of stuff you probably weren’t interested in. Boenisch says that this time, you have the flexibility to do pretty much whatever you want.

Quests and other activities still have a role to play and come with worthwhile rewards, but they’re entirely optional now. You can do them if and when you feel like it, or just ignore them completely. You can grind in the arena, run around to level up stats, or just play games the whole time.

“If you just wanna hoop, you’re gonna hoop all you want to,” Boenisch says.

2K and Visual Concepts also trimmed how long it takes to finish a career. You play as the most promising generational prospect in years who’s determined to unseat the reigning champ, Michael Jordan, and become the best player ever.

That career unfolds across hundreds of games and several years, but NBA 2K24 adds a simulation system so you don’t have to actually play them all. You still have to play key games and playoff matches, but you can let the system take care of ones you’re not interested in or don’t have time to play.

The simulator analyzes how you played in previous games and uses that data to predict what would have happened if you played the match yourself. If you’ve been on a losing streak, for example, don’t expect the simulated match to play out any differently.

PHOTOS: Check out the brand new location for “The City” in NBA 2K24

Players may want to pack their sunscreen when the head to “The City” when NBA 2K24 launches this September.

The makers of the video game NBA 2K have announced a brand new location for “The City” in NBA 2K24 when the game drops later this year. For the latest iteration of the game, players will be transported to a vibrant beachfront city with new game modes, features and experiences.

Since its introduction in NBA 2K21, the “My City” feature has become a critical hub for players. This mode allows players to access some of the game’s key features in an immersive, customizable experience. It’s now a staple part of the game, and a key element of the experience specifically for next generation gamers.

For NBA 2K24, 2K Sports went with a completely remodeled City. This time it’s a seaside location complete with “white sand beaches” and “breathtaking views in every direction.” Here players will be able to experience new features like “Streetball Side Quest” and “Starting 5,” along with all of the familiar portals that make “The City” a key part of the game.

Rookie Wire got an early peek at  “The City” in NBA 2K24. Check out some of these screen grabs, courtesy of NBA 2K.

2K producer says NBA 2K24 MyTeam brings ‘best of the old and new’

2K and Visual Concepts built NBA 2K24’s MyTeam mode with community feedback at the center, producer Jon Smith tells GLHF

NBA 2K24’s MyTeam is shaping up to be a more streamlined, user-friendly version of the sports game‘s popular mode, built with community feedback at the center. Everything from the player marketplace to how you earn special rings is getting an overhaul, all to help you stay on the court more often with the players you want.

“As one of our most engaged player bases within the series, we innovate MyTeam every year by working with our community to deliver one of the most all-encompassing card-collecting modes in the industry,” Erick Boenisch, VP of NBA development at Visual Concepts, said in a statement. “Ushering in long-requested features, such as the new Player Market, increased MTP earn rates, and an overhaul of the XP system, are only a few of the ways we look forward to fans experiencing MyTeam in NBA 2K24.”

Producer Jon Smith says the NBA 2K24’s MyTeam mode includes more chances to earn more currency, and buying cards in NBA 2K24 is more transparent for the first time in a bid to cut down on auction house woes. Nearly every card is available in the market for set prices, either in VC or MT Coins. Fan-favorite card packs return as well, with guaranteed pulls and improved odds for rare cards.

NBA 2K24’s MyTeam has a brand-new salary cap mode that Smith says fixed what didn’t work when 2K and Visual Concepts tried salary cap before. You earn XP even if you lose a match, so everything you do leads to progress of some kind. The goal is building a team under that round’s salary cap using cards whose salary ratings change weekly depending on how popular they are.

Clutch Time also returns in NBA 2K24, and this time, you can play as many times as you want using any lineup and players without any restrictions on match numbers.

New-gen versions of the game include crossplay support, so you can play with your friends if they own a platform that supports crossplay. Smith said the team believes crossplay will shorten matchmaking time, but if you’re unable to team up with friends, you can use the new “looking for group” feature to join a team of strangers and fill a missing spot on their team.

2K’s Ben Bishop on what makes NBA 2K24 Mamba Moments special

NBA 2K24’s Mamba Moments aim to encapsulate the finest details of Kobe Bryant’s career in the sports game

NBA 2K24’s Mamba Moments aim to be the definitive representation of Kobe Bryant’s career, 2K senior producer Ben Bishop tells GLHF. The team at Visual Concepts dug into Bryant’s biggest games to recreate everything in the sports game, from stat overlays and scoreboards, to insightful match commentary, and even Bryant’s signature gestures and characteristics.

The result is what Bishop calls a set of “games to savor… [a] special Kobe package that’s unique to him and gives you an idea of who he was.”

The Mamba Moments mode divides its seven games into three major eras of Bryant’s career:

  • The Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal phase
  • Bryant’s “scoring machine” years, which Bishop called “Kobe against the world”
  • The end of his career with the Lakers

Each game offers unique ways, with a set of challenges tied to Bryant’s performance in that match. You get themed rewards that carry over into MyCareer and MyTeam if you manage to clear them.

Then there’s everything surrounding the games. Bishop says commentary provides key context for what was happening off the court at the time, including personal stories from the players and even how the match fits into the league’s history.

He also says that Visual Concepts put a lot of effort into recreating how the court, stat overlays, and, most importantly, Bryant’s animations look. Bishop used one example of how Bryant, fresh off a scoring streak, blew on his fingers to metaphorically cool them off. Visual Concepts captured that as realistically as possible.

NBA 2K24 launches for PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on Sep. 8, 2023. For more on NBA 2K24, check out our coverage of what’s new in the skills department and for the WNBA league and what to expect from MyNBA this year.
