LOOK: Twitter reacts to Nate Oats’ comments on Coach K

Alabama MBB head coach Nate Oats calls out Duke’s head Coach, Coach K, who claims NCAA should rethink playing the 2020-2021 MBB season.

Alabama men’s basketball head coach Nate Oats is in year No. 2 with the team. Both season’s have been under unique circumstances, with both season being severly impacted by COVID.

On Wednesday, Duke men’s basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski made comments regaridng the current state of basketball and if it should even be played due to the ongoing pandemic. Duke has since canceled their non-conference schedule for the rest of the 2020-2021 season.

Oats was quick to point out that it’s okay to play, since we are all humans in need of continuing on with out lives, just carefully, so as to not put ourselves and anyone else in danger.

Another, more controversial point made by Oats was that Duke is currently 2-2. A team that is typically the team to beat no having a great start to the season could be why Coach K made those comments.

Twitter was quick to catch on and have either sided with, or against Oats. Here’s what they had to say:

Listen to a short clip of his comments here.

The full clip includes Oats comments on basketball and the need to return to somewhat normal life with caution.

It’s been a day, and no NCAA personnell on campus… that we know of.

And the memes begin.

The Alabama student’s have come to support Oats.

Calling out other coaches is nothing new for the head coach.

Duke fans aren’t going to like this one.

If the national media is going to focus in on Alabama basketball, wouldn’t a new arena be nice?

Nate Oats is putting Alabama basketball on the map, one way or another.

FROM THE TOP ROPE.

Alabama – Duke. A new rivalry?

Former Alabama guard Kira Lewis Jr. has been drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the No. 13 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft.

Lewis spent two years with the Crimson Tide where he was often the youngest member of the squad, first joining the team in 2018 as a 17-year old.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats had high praise for Lewis, not only as a player, but also as a person.

“He’s got zero red flags as a kid. He’s a great person off the floor. He works hard. He’s in the gym. Teams can see how good he is on film,” Oats said.

Lewis was a consistent leader for the Crimson Tide, making plays himself, or being abe to create plays. The one ability he possesses that sets him apart from the others is his speed, which teams have most definitley factored into their decision.

Roll Tide Wire congratulates Kira and looks forward to keeping up with him as he begins his NBA career!

Alabama Basketball and Nate Oats now have their 2020-21 non-conference schedule and will look to build upon an impressive season from 2019.

Nate Oats looks to start year No. 2 off strong as the Crimson Tide men’s basketball head coach.

Hopes are high for Oats and Alabama basketball. ESPN’s Dick Vitale has the Crimson Tide ranked at No. 17 to open up the 2020-21 college basketball season.

“Nate Oats has a loaded roster and could use 12 players,” writes Vitale. “Veterans John Petty and Herb Jones are back, but there is potential for more balanced scoring this season. Canadians Keon Ambrose-Hylton and Josh Primo, along with Alex Tchikou of France, are three of the six newcomers to keep an eye on. This Tide team will make noise in the SEC, and I have them higher than some prognosticators.”

The non-conference schedule for Alabama has been released, and here’s what  Oats and the Crimson Tide have ahead of them:

The full schedule, along with the SEC schedule, has yet to be announced.

They point to Lewis’ time at Alabama and how strong he was compared to the rest of the pack, which also consisted of talented players. however, his leadership qualities at a young age set him apart.

“Lewis led Alabama in scoring (18.5 per game) and assists (5.2 per game) and shot 45.9% from the field, 36.6% on 3s and 80.2% from the foul line. He has a great handle and uses it well, with speed to beat defenders off the dribble.”

Rookie Wire 2021 NBA mock draft predicts Kira Lewis’ landing spot

Former Alabama guard Kir Lewis is set to be drafted in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft in Rookie Wire’s latest mock draft.

With the 2020 NBA draft less than a month away, analysts are scrambling to predict who is getting drafted when and where. One name that Alabama fans will be keeping an eye on is 19-year old guard Kira Lewis.

In this mock draft, Lewis is the third SEC player to be selected, after Georgia’s Anthony Edwards and Auburn’s Isaac Okoro.

Kalbrosky has high praise for Lewis,

“New Orleans Pelicans executive David Griffin wants his team to be the fastest in league history, surrounding franchise cornerstone Zion Williamson with speed. Even though the Pelicans already have Lonzo Ball as their starting point guard, Alabama’s Lewis is perfect for their system and worth consideration.

Lewis, whose Crimson Tide team had the fourth-fastest tempo and sixth-shortest possession time in all of college basketball last season, is elite in transition and can be a speedy option on the floor for the Pelicans.”

Alabama Men’s basketball head coach Nate Oats reveals to reporters that he tested positive for the Coronavirus over the summer in July. The announcement is made less than a day after Alabama football head coach Nick Saban tested positive.

Oats tells reporters that he chooses to wear a mask to set an example to those around him.

“Luckily for me, I got COVID back in July, so I don’t have to worry about it really, too much, anymore,” Oats says. “Technically, I don’t have to wear a mask, but I try to wear a mask whenever I’m around people just to set the standard that that’s what we’re going to do to try to abide by everything.”

According to Myron Medcalf of ESPN, Oats also said members of his team needed to quarantine within the last month.

He concluded with his thoughts on Saban’s positive test and what it means for Alabama’s game this Saturday against Georgia.
