Former Alabama Heisman-winning running back [autotag]Derrick Henry[/autotag] is gearing up for his seventh season in the NFL with the team tat drafted him in 2016, the Tennessee Titans. Henry’s legacy in Nashville, home of the Titans, continues to grow as he joined the ownership group of the Nashville SC Major League Soccer team.
Henry is at the peak of his NFL career and shows no signs of slowing down or stopping any time soon. Despite injury in 2021, he managed to amass 937 yards and 10 touchdowns in only eight games played.
The Nashville SC Twitter account shared a short clip of Henry sporting the team’s colors.

Derrick Henry joins actress Reese Witherspoon and media and technology investor Jim Toth as minority owners of Nashville SC.
Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is now getting involved with a different kind of football.
According to Nashville SC, Henry is one of three to join the MLS team’s ownership group via minority stake, along with actress Reese Witherspoon and media and technology investor, Jim Toth.
Henry becomes the fourth NFL player in league history to serve in an ownership role with an MLS team.
“As a kid growing up in Florida, I imagined being a professional sports owner and the opportunity to do that with a Major League Soccer club is truly a dream come true,” Henry said. “My investment in Nashville SC is way more than financial, it’s truly an investment in the city of Nashville. The chance to be part of a club like Nashville SC, especially after seeing what they are accomplishing in the community, was an opportunity I did not want to miss.”
“We meant it when we said we were doing this in Nashville, with Nashville and for Nashville,” said principal owner John Ingram. “Having Derrick, Reese and Jim join our group signals our commitment to being a club that is going to do things at the highest level and with the best Nashville has to offer.”
This announcement comes just before Nashville SC takes the field for the first time at their new stadium, GEODIS Park, on May 1 against the Philadelphia Union.

“No creo que sorprenda a nadie saber que, al igual que nosotros, todos estaban devastados por tener que retirarse del torneo”, comentó Ayre tras el retiro del torneo.
Al respecto el comisionado de la MLS, Don Garber habló para TUDN explicando la situación del torneo y sobre todo las emociones que deja en la organización el retiro de dos equipos.
“De los 26 equipos llegaron 2 que tuvieron demasiados positivos y no nos sentimos cómodos con dejarles participar”, dijo Don Garber.
Y es que la MLS ha seguido al pie de la letra el protocolo de sanidad establecido para que se realice el torneo de buena forma, sin exponer a los futbolistas a contagios con la idea de regresar a la actividad, que los jugadores vuelvan a sentir la pelota, los entrenadores dirijan y los aficionados se emocionen con los compromisos.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Middle Tennessee affected by the storms last night!,” Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt Tweeted. “We’re thinking of you.”
University of Tennessee Director of Athletics Phillip Fulmer also took to Twitter and offered his prayers in support of the Nashville area.

On Tuesday morning, Nashville SC attacker David Accam shared footage of him home, which had sustained serious damage in the storm. Windows appeared blown out, with furniture disheveled and broken glass strewn about the floor. Accam said “thank God we survive it” in a follow-up post.
An email to Nashville SC was not immediately returned on Tuesday morning. David Accam joined the expansion club this offseason.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Corey Davis and punter Brett Kern both attended Nashville SC’s home opener at Nissan Stadium on Saturday night in what was the first game for the new MLS franchise.
Davis voiced his support for the new club in a video posted on Twitter.

Unfortunately, the end result wasn’t what fans wanted, as Nashville SC ultimately fell to Atlanta United, 2-1.
However, the enthusiasm for the game was abundantly clear. A crowd of 59.069 showed up for the contest, which broke the Tennessee soccer attendance record.
While Nashville SC is currently playing its home games at Nissan Stadium, the ultimate goal is to have them play at the Nashville Fairgrounds in a 27,500-seat soccer specific stadium at some point down the road.
