Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway with expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at Phoenix Raceway Sunday for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 3 p.m. ET (NBC). Below we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds, and make our NASCAR picks and predictions.

2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship: What you need to know

  • The Championship 4 is set, with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell, TrackHouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott and Penske Racing’s Joey Logano vying for the title
  • Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe posted a victory in the Ruoff Mortgage 500 on March 13 in Phoenix in the 1st stop of the season
  • As for  the title contenders in that March race: Chastain finished 2nd, Logano 8th, Elliott 11th and Bell 26th
  • Chastain topped the charts in the 1st practice session Friday with an average speed of 133.240 mph; Logano took the pole Saturday with a  134.389 lap time
  • While Chastain was a runner-up in March in Phoenix, he has the worst Average-Finish Position (AFP) among the Championship 4 drivers at 20.5 in 8 Cup starts
  • On the flip side, Logano has 2 career wins in Phoenix with a 13.1 AFP, and Elliott has 1 win in Avondale with a solid 10.7 AFP
  • Bell has 5 career Cup runs under his belt at the Arizona track, posting just 2 top-10 finishes, 0 laps led and a middling 17.0 AFP
  • SHR’s Kevin Harvick leads all active drivers with 9 wins in 39 career Cup starts at Phoenix, posting a leading 8.7 AFP with 1,663 laps led
  • Hendrick’s Alex Bowman has really struggled on the flat track at Phoenix, posting a dismal 23.1 AFP in 14 career Cup starts with 0 top-5 finishes, just one top-10 run and 3 DNFs

2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 12:26 a.m. ET.

JOEY LOGANO (+280) is looking for his 2nd career Cup Series championship after securing the title at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2018. He has 2 career wins in Phoenix, and is the most experienced of the Championship 4 drivers, with Elliott closely on his tails. I expect it to come down to those 2 drivers for all the marbles.

CHASE ELLIOTT (+230) isn’t as good of a value as Logano, but he is just as strong of a contender for the title. He looks to match Logano with a 2nd Cup championship after bringing home the title to Dawsonville, Ga., with a win in 2020 at this very same track.

2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship – Contenders

KEVIN HARVICK (+1500) would be a great choice to crash the Championship 4 party and secure the win. He has 9 career victories on the flat track in Avondale, while the rest of the field combined has 12 total wins at the track. Harvick has made 39 career starts at Phoenix Raceway, posting 18 top-5 finishes, 28 top-10 runs and 1,663 laps led with an 8.7 AFP.

2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship – Long-shot pick

MARTIN TRUEX JR. (+5000) had a horrendous season in 2022, failing to make the playoffs. However, he is worth a look as a long-shot play in Phoenix. He has a win with 6 top-5 finishes and 14 top-10 runs with a 15.6 AFP in 33 career Cup Series starts. A small-unit bet could pay off handsomely if he can take checkers.

2022 Xfinity 500 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at Martinsville Speedway Sunday for the 2022 Xfinity 500. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 2 p.m. ET (NBC). Below we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the 2022 Xfinity 500 odds, and make our NASCAR picks and predictions.

2022 Xfinity 500: What you need to know

  • This is the 3rd and final race of the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs; 4 drivers will qualify for the Championship 4 and NASCAR Cup Series Championship at Phoenix Raceway next Sunday
  • 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson of Hendrick Motorsports sits on the pole for Sunday’s race
  • Hendrick’s William Byron won the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 at Martinsville on April 9 in the 1st stop of the season
  • Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney leads all active drivers with a 10.2 Average-Finish Position (AFP) in 13 career Cup Series starts
  • Virginia native Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing leads all active drivers with 5 career Cup Series checkered flags at Martinsville
  • TrackHouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, Hendrick’s Chase Elliott and Byron are currently above the cut line, with Hamlin and Blaney within striking distance
  • JGR’s Christopher Bell and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe are mathematically alive for the Championship 4, but likely need a victory
  • Playoff contenders starting spots: Elliott (2nd), Briscoe (3rd), Blaney (4th), Chastain (9th), Hamlin (11th), Logano (12th), Bell (20th), Byron (25th)

2022 Xfinity 500 – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 10:07 p.m. ET.

DENNY HAMLIN (+700) has it all in front of him for a run to the Championship 4. This is 1 of his best career tracks, and the Chesterfield, Va.,  native can punch his ticket for a chance at the title in Phoenix with a win. I think Hamlin has a more than good shot, and he leads all active drivers with 1,987 laps led, too, so he knows how to stay in front.

RYAN BLANEY (+600) is not as good of a value as Hamlin in the No. 11 machine, but he is right below the cut line, too, and will be racing hard at a track he has flourished. Blaney leads all active drivers with a 10.2 AFP, and while he has no wins, he has 6 top-5 runs in his 13 career Cup starts.

2022 Xfinity 500 – Contenders

CHRISTOPHER BELL (+1300) is on the outside looking in, and it’s now or never at Martinsville. He has had an impressive run to the Round of 8, and likely needs a win to get a shot at his 1st championship. In 5 career Cup starts at the paperclip, he has a solid 17.4 AFP, but he obviously needs to do much better than that. I think he could win, or he will be a DNF. He’ll be racing desperate, which is a risky bet, but it could pay off handsomely, too.

MARTIN TRUEX JR. (+1500) is worth a look. MTJ didn’t even qualify for the playoffs after a disastrous regular season, but he could crash the party at a track he likes. He has 3 career Cup wins, 9 top-5 runs and 15 top-10 showings in his 33 starts, good for a 16.3 AFP and just 2 DNFs.

2022 Xfinity 500 prop pick

DENNY HAMLIN TOP-3 FINISH (+175)

If Hamlin doesn’t win, he should still show well.  As mentioned, Hamlin has 16 top-5 finishes in his 33 Cup starts at Martinsville, including the 5 wins. This is a strong wager for the driver of the No. 11 machine, who starts 11th in the grid.

2022 Dixie Vodka 400 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at the Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday for the 2022 Dixie Vodka 400. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 2:30 p.m. ET (NBC). Below we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the 2022 Dixie Vodka 400 odds, and make our NASCAR picks and predictions.

2022 Dixie Vodka 400: What you need to know

  • This is the 2nd of 3 races in the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs; currently 8 drivers remain alive for the championship after Sunday
  • Kevin Harvick leads all active drivers with a 7.3 Average-Finish Position (AFP – min. 3 starts) at HMS, winning 1 race while posting 12 top-5 finishes and 414 laps led
  • Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin has 3 career victories at Homestead-Miami, while producing 5 top-5 finishes in his 17 Cup starts, good for a 10.0 AFP
  • Chevrolet broke the dominance of Ford and Toyota in February 2021 when William Byron scored a win. Toyota had won 3 of the previous 4 at the track, with Ford scoring a win in November 2018
  • Championship contender and Sunshine State native Ross Chastain has struggled at the Florida track, posting a 28.3 AFP in 3 Cup starts
  • Chase Briscoe finished 18th in his lone Cup appearance last season at HMS

2022 Dixie Vodka 400 – Expert pick(s)

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 8:06 p.m. ET.

DENNY HAMLIN (+1000) has produced consistent results at this track, and he is a strong play as a result. He has ended up inside the top 10 in 11 of his 17 career Cup runs, while totaling 393 laps led, 3rd only to teammate Kyle Busch (465) and Kevin Harvick (414). Hamlin goes off 14th Sunday.

KYLE BUSCH (+1500) is a strong value play. He has registered 2 wins with 5 top-5 finishes and 10 top-10 runs while posting a 15.4 AFP. His time with JGR is winding down, but he could go out with a bang. Rowdy starts 11th.

2022 Dixie Vodka 400 – Contender

KEVIN HARVICK (+2000) is worth a roll of the dice, as he has had tremendous results here, including a checkered flag in 2014 en route to his then-named Sprint Cup Series championship.

Harvick has a win, 12 top-5 results, 18 top-10 finishes and 414 laps led, starting at 11.2 on average, while finishing with a 7.3 AFP, best among all active drivers with at least 3 career Cup starts. Harvick will try to work his way up from the 16th spot in the starting grid.

2022 Dixie Vodka 400 prop pick(s)

KEVIN HARVICK TOP-10 FINISH (-110)

As mentioned above, Harvick has the win here in 2014, but he is probably more of a realistic play for a top-10 finish than a straight-up win. He isn’t among the final 8 contending for a championship, and his starting spot of 16th is just OK, not great.

In 21 career Cup starts, he has brought it home 10th or better in 18 starts, good for an 85.7% conversion rate. That’s well worth the bet.

2022 South Point 400 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Road Course with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Road Course Sunday for the 2022 South Point 400. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 2:30 p.m. ET (NBC). Below we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the 2022 South Point 400 odds, with NASCAR picks and predictions.

2022 South Point 400: What you need to know

  • This is the 1st of 3 races in the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs; currently 8 drivers remain alive for the championship after Sunday
  • Joey Logano leads all active drivers with an 8.9 Average-Finish Position (AFP) in 18 career Cup starts at LVMS
  • Kevin Harvick, a 2-time winner in Vegas, leads all drivers with 679 laps led in his 26 career Cup starts at the track
  • Kyle Larson, eliminated from the playoffs last weekend, is 2nd to Logano with a 9.2 AFP in Las Vegas, with 1 win, 5 top-5 finishes and 9 top-10 runs in 12 career starts
  • Las Vegas native Kurt Busch has struggled at his hometown track, posting just 1 win and 3 top-5 finishes in 25 career Cup starts with a dismal 20.6 AFP
  • Kyle Busch, also a Vegas native, has fared better than his older brother at LVMS, winning 1 race, while posting 10 top-5 runs in 22 career Cup starts with an 11.2 AFP
  • TrackHouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, sitting 6 points above the cutoff line, has a terrible 23.6 AFP in 8 career Cup starts at LVMS

2022 South Point 400 – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 10:46 p.m. ET.

JOEY LOGANO (+1000) is a value play, as he has performed well at this track, and doesn’t enter this race with as much pressure as some of the other playoff competitors. He is well above the cut line, and should position himself even better with a potential win to get him into NASCAR’s Final Four.

RYAN BLANEY (+700) has shorter odds than the better play above, and this is a track which suits him well, too. He is just below the cut line, so he has a little more pressure to perform. While the Ohio native has never won in Las Vegas, he has done well in the past, ranking 4th among all active drivers with an 11.1 AFP. Look for Blaney to be racing for checkers in the end.

2022 South Point 400 – Long shot

CHASE BRISCOE (+3000) is still technically alive for a championship, as he qualified for the Round of 8. However, he needs to catch fire — quickly.

Las Vegas hasn’t been one of his better tracks, but his team will do everything in its power to keep him alive. In 3 career Cup starts at LVMS, Briscoe has finished 14th, 21st and 35th with 1 DNF, which doesn’t exactly have potential bettors brimming with confidence. However, he has plenty of incentive to race hard, and try to get to the front, so he is worth a roll of the dice.

2022 South Point 400 prop picks

CHASE BRISCOE TOP-10 FINISH (+125)

Briscoe at plus-money for a top-10 finish still carries plenty of risk. Again, this hasn’t been one of his better tracks during his fledgling Cup career. However, he is still alive for a championship, and he needs a good run. Briscoe will either end up inside the top-10 with a positive run, or he will flame out and be done before the Round of 8 really even gets going.

FORD – MANUFACTURER WINNER (+200)

With Blaney and Logano as my 2 picks to win outright, let’s roll with Ford to get the job done at Las Vegas. For a chance to double up, it’s a no-brainer.

2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course Sunday for the 2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 2 p.m. ET (NBC). Below we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the 2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 odds, with NASCAR picks and predictions.

2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400: What you need to know

  • This is the finale of the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, as 8 drivers will remain alive for the championship after Sunday
  • William Byron leads all active drivers with 80 laps led in the history of the Charlotte ROVAL, posting an Average-Finish Position (AFP) of 14.3
  • Chase Elliott, a 2-time winner on the ROVAL, is 2nd to his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Byron with 64 laps led at the Charlotte road course
  • Kyle Larson, another driver in the Hendrick stable, is the defending champ at the ROVAL, and he has led 60 laps with a 13.0 AFP
  • Penske Racing’s Ryan Blaney is the only non-Hendrick and non-Chevy driver to win at the ROVAL, taking checkers in the inaugural race back in Sept. 2018
  • Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch has had a devil of a time at the ROVAL, posting a dismal 25.8 AFP in 4 career Cup starts, including 2 DNFs
  • TrackHouse Racing’s Ross Chastain, still alive for the championship, has a dismal 23.0 AFP in 3 ROVAL Cup starts, and TrackHouse teammate Daniel Suarez is in the same boat with a 23.3 AFP in 4 ROVAL Cup runs

2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 12:10 p.m. ET.

CHASE ELLIOTT (+425) is the chalk, and it’s hard to argue against taking a guy who has picked up wins in half of the all-time races at a track. He has been a road-course extraordinaire during his NASCAR Cup Series career, and he has a 5.0 AFP at his track in 4 Cup starts.

RYAN BLANEY (+1500) is a tremendous value play at this price. He won the inaugural race in 2018, before the Hendrick team rattled off 3 straight wins here. Still, Blaney has never finished lower than 9th in his 4 career Cup starts at the ROVAL, and he has led 40 laps here. If anyone breaks up the Chevy monopoly, it will be him.

2022 Bank of America ROVAL 400 – Long shots

COLE CUSTER (+10000) is worth playing really, really light. Hear me out. He has made 2 career Cup starts at the ROVAL, finishing 9th and 18th. It isn’t that far out of the realm of possibility that this is the location for his first-career Cup checkered flag. In a season that has seen 19 different drivers claim at least 1 victory, is it that crazy?

2022 Bank of America 400 prop picks

COLE CUSTER TOP-10 FINISH (+350)

If you don’t like Custer to win outright, and admittedly so, it’s a real long shot, he is still a value play for a top-10 finish. Again, he finished 9th in the Oct. 2020 race, while managing and 18th-place run last season. For a chance to multiply your initial wager by 3 1/2 times, this is a sound investment.

HENDRICK – TEAM OF RACE WINNER (+210)

As mentioned above, Hendrick Motorsports has dominated at this track setup, winning 3 of the 4 all-time ROVAL Cup races. Elliott has checkers in 2, Larson won last season and Byron leads all active drivers in laps led. For whatever reason the HMS team has figured this setup out, and they’re the favorites to do it again in 2022.

2022 Yellawood 500 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 Yellawood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday for the 2022 Yellawood 500. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 2 p.m. ET (NBC) with Christopher Bell on the poll. Below we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the 2022 Yellawood 500 odds, with NASCAR picks and predictions.

2022 Yellawood 500: What you need to know

  • Ross Chastain picked up the victory at the GEICO 500 in the spring stop at Talladega, his first top-5 or top-10 finish in 5 career Cup starts at the track
  • Ryan Blaney leads all active drivers with an 11.0 Average-Finish Position (AFP) with a minimum 3 Cup starts at Talladega since 2019, posting 2 wins with 146 laps led
  • Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has a win, 6 top-5 finishes and 104 laps led with a 15.0 AFP in 18 career Cup starts at ‘Dega
  • William Byron failed pre-qualifying inspection twice Friday, and his car chief Tyler Jones was ejected for the remainder of the weekend, while also losing pit-stall selection
  • Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley and Daniel Hemric, a pair of non-playoff entrants, also failed pre-qualifying inspection and lose their car chiefs
  • Brad Keselowski leads all drivers with 6 career Talladega Cup wins while posting a 15.4 AFP in 27 career Cup starts

2022 Yellawood 500 – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:14 a.m. ET.

CHASE ELLIOTT (+1200) is a value play at this price. He is 3rd among all drivers with at least 2 Cup starts at Talladega, posting a win and 4 top-5 finishes with 173 laps led in 13 runs at the track while posting a 15.2 AFP. He’ll start Sunday from the 16th position.

JOEY LOGANO (+1200) is always a strong play on superspeedways, too. He has 3 career wins at ‘Dega, 2nd only to former teammate Keselowski as far as active drivers are concerned.

Logano, who starts Sunday in the 11th position, also has 9 top-5 finishes with 417 laps led, so he knows how to bide his time, pick and choose his spots to move, etc. However, he does have 9 DNFs, too, so he has had a penchant of being mixed up in ‘The Big One’ when it does happen.

2022 Yellawood 500 – Long shots

RICKY STENHOUSE JR. (+4000) is always a strong long-shot play at Talladega, or any superspeedway. The Olive Branch, Miss., native just brings it on the tracks he can go super fast. He has a win at Talladega, 6 top-5 finishes and a 15.0 AFP while leading 104 laps. He starts 25th Sunday.

TY DILLON (+10000) is worth playing lightly. Heck, we’ve had a record number of race winners this season, so what’s 1 more? The ‘other’ Dillon, who starts Sunday in 30th position, has a top-5, 2 top-10 finishes and 10 laps led with a 14.3 AFP in his 9 career Cup starts at Talladega.

2022 Yellawood 500 prop picks

RICKY STENHOUSE JR. TOP-10 FINISH (-110)

Stenhouse Jr. is a strong value at this price point, which is basically even-money. Again, he has a win at this track and he has finished half of his 18 career Cup starts at 10th or better, so he has a habit of being near the top of the leaderboard when the dust settles at this Alabama superspeedway.

TY DILLON TOP-10 FINISH (+275)

Dillon is tremendous on the superspeedways, particularly Talladega. Most weekends he doesn’t have a prayer to finish in the top 10, but the field is leveled somewhat between the power teams and lower teams. Dillon has a chance to help you nearly triple up if he can grab his 3rd top-10 finish in 10 career Cup starts at ‘Dega. It’s worth a roll of the dice.

2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 at Texas Motor Speedway with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series is at Texas Motor Speedway Sunday for the 2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500. Green flag is scheduled to drop shortly after 3:30 p.m. ET (USA Network). 2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 – Expert pick(s)

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:06 a.m. ET.

KYLE BUSCH (+1200) flamed out last week at Bristol, but we’ll go right back to him at Texas. He has dominated at this track, posting the 4 wins, 14 top-5 finishes and 1,069 laps led in 31 career Cup starts with a 10.9 AFP.

If you don’t like Busch, DENNY HAMLIN (+650) isn’t as good of a value, but he is just as strong of a play. The driver of the No. 11 machine has 3 wins, 7 top-5 finishes and 14 top-10 runs with a 13.7 AFP in his 31 career Cup starts at the track.

2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 – Long shot

KEVIN HARVICK (+3000) isn’t going to win a championship this season, but he also isn’t just going to wither and die. This is a proud veteran driver, and Texas has been one of his best career tracks.

Harvick has 3 wins with 13 top-5 finishes, 24 top-10 runs and a 10.2 AFP with 682 laps led in Fort Worth. Look for the driver of the No. 4 machine to give the championship contenders all they can handle.

2022 AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500 prop picks

KEVIN HARVICK TOP-10 FINISH (+140)

Harvick is still a very good value at plus-money for a top-10 run. In 64.9% of his Cup starts at Texas, or 24 of 37, he has finished 10th or higher, and he has just 1 DNF in his career at the track.

ERIK JONES TOP-10 FINISH (+330)

The odds are a little longer, but Jones is finishing up strong this season. You have a chance to more than triple up, so go lightly on Jones to finish inside the Top 10. In his 10 career Cup starts at this track, Jones has managed 6 top-10 runs, or a 60% rate of his starts. That’s worth a roll of the dice.

KYLE BUSCH (+750) made headlines in announcing his plans for 2023 and beyond, as he’ll move to RCR and back behind the wheel of a Chevy. For now, he is in the playoffs, and Bristol has been his race. He is a tremendous value play at this price based on his 8 career wins at the track. Busch owns Thunder Valley, with 2,592 laps led. The next best total is Kevin Harvick, with 1,209 laps led.

2022 Bass Pro Shops Night Race – Long shot

ERIK JONES (+4000) picked up a victory at Darlington in the opening playoff race, surprising everyone. He is a non-playoff driver, but he crashed the party with the historic win for Petty GMS Motorsports. It was the 3rd career win for Jones and the 200th time the No. 43 car appeared on Victory Lane.

Jones leads all drivers with a 12.4 AFP in 9 career Cup starts, and he has never had a DNF at the short track. With 293 laps led, and 4 top-5 finishes, including a runner-up, he is worth a roll of the dice.

2022 Bass Pro Shops Night Race prop pick

ERIK JONES TOP-10 FINISH (+162)

Jones has never won at Bristol, but he came close in August 2017 in the night race with a 2nd-place run. He has 9 career BMS starts, and 5 of those runs have been 10th or better, with 293 laps led. As mentioned above, he is worth a look as a long-shot to win. But he is still a value at plus-money for a top-10 finish.

KYLE LARSON (+650) picked up a victory in the playoffs last season at Kansas, and he has led 291 of his 801 laps in 3 starts at Kansas since joining Hendrick Motorsports. Overall he has 455 laps led with 5 top-5 runs, 7 top-10 showings and a 14.6 AFP in his 15 Cup starts.

2022 Hollywood Casino 400 – Contender

CHASE ELLIOTT (+1300) opened with the same odds as Larson, and is also an intriguing play. He is 2nd among all active drivers with an 11.2 AFP in his 13 career Cup starts, posting a win, 6 top-5 finishes and 197 laps led.

2022 Hollywood Casino 400 – Long shot

Last week it was non-playoff driver Erik Jones crashing the party with a victory at Darlington, cashing big. This week, playoff driver AUSTIN CINDRIC (+5000) has a legitimate shot to make some noise in Kansas. He has finished 11th and 22nd in his 2 Cup starts at Kansas.

2022 Hollywood Casino 400 prop pick

CINDRIC TOP-10 FINISH (+135)

Cindric steered his No. 4 Chevrolet to an 11th-place finish in mid-May at the Advent Health 400 at Kansas Speedway. Since his 5th-place finish at Sonoma, Cindric has been 7th or better in half of his 12 Cup starts. At this price he is a strong value.

2022 Cook Out Southern 500 odds, picks and predictions

Looking at the odds for Sunday’s 2022 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington, with NASCAR expert picks and predictions.

The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs begin at Darlington Raceway Sunday night for the 2022 Cook Out Southern 500. The green flag is set to drop a little after 6 p.m. ET (USA Network). Below we analyze the 2022 Cook Out Southern 500 odds and lines, with NASCAR picks and predictions.

Sunday’s race is scheduled for 367 laps and 501.3 miles on the 1.366-mile oval for the Sprint Cup Series playoff opener. The Cook Out Southern 500 is the 2nd stop of the season at Darlington.

2022 Cook Out Southern 500: What you need to know

  • Penske Racing’s Joey Logano registered the victory at the Goodyear 400 in the 1st Darlington stop of the season May 8.
  • Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin leads all active drivers with 4 Darlington victories. He leads everyone with a 7.8 Average Finish Position (AFP) in 20 Cup starts.
  • Ford and Toyota have dominated at Darlington in recent seasons, with Toyota posting 7 wins across the past 11 starts, and Ford taking the other 4.
  • Chevrolet hasn’t been to Victory Lane at “The Track Too Tough To Tame” since Kevin Harvick picked up checkers April 12, 2014.
  • Harvick has 3 wins, 13 top-5 finishes, 18 top-10 runs in 29 Cup starts at Darlington. His 813 laps led is tops among active drivers.

Cook Out Southern 500 – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 9:28 p.m. ET.

HAMLIM (+750) has been the gold standard at Darlington over the years, including a win in the most recent Labor Day weekend race in 2021, averaging 121.279 mph in the victory. He also won the 2nd end of a doubleheader during the COVID season in May 2020.

Hamlin remains a decent value, not only based upon his dominant numbers, posting 3 wins in the past 9 Darlington Cup races, but due to Toyota’s strong showings at the South Carolina track of late.

MARTIN TRUEX JR. (+1200) missed the playoffs, but he is a proud veteran driver who isn’t likely to pack it in for the season. He has been one of the more effective drivers at Darlington, picking up 2 wins and 10 top-10 runs with 721 laps led in 20 career Cup starts. MTJ has a stellar 11.5 AFP, 3rd-best among active drivers, and he has just one DNF in his career at Darlington.

Cook Out Southern 500 – Long shot

ERIK JONES (+4000) is worth a roll of the dice. He has picked up a win in 9 career Darlington Cup starts, while registering 4 top-5 finishes and 109 laps led. It always hasn’t been pretty as Jones has a pair of DNFs in his 9 runs, too. But still, he has managed an 11.8 AFP. When he finishes at Darlington, he finishes strong.

Cook Out Southern 500 prop bets

WINNING CONSTRUCTOR: TOYOTA (+175)

Toyota has been to Victory Lane 7 times in the past 11 Darlington Cup races, with Ford winning the other 4 times since April 2014.

Hamlin has been the most dominant driver in recent seasons in his FedEx No. 11 machine, and Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch (13.0 AFP in 21 career Cup starts) are also threats to win in this 1st playoff race. JGR is a good bet at Darlington, and so is Toyota.

ERIK JONES TOP-10 FINISH (+200)

We mentioned Jones above as a long-shot pick, but he is a more realistic play as a non-playoff driver to simply crack the top 10.

Jones has been out of the playoff hunt, but he has been racing hard lately. He has 4 top-10 finishes in his past 8 starts, including a 10th-place run at Watkins Glen just 2 weeks ago. He did lead a lap in the May race at Darlington, but he was involved in a crash and tumbled to 25th after a start of 11th. He’ll be out to prove himself, and there is a lot less pressure with the playoffs no longer a possibility.
