Former Texas DL Myron Warren announces transfer to Texas State

Myron Warren has found a new home within the state.

The Longhorns have seen a slew of talent come in, but have also had quite a bit of it leave the Forty Acres.

While attempting to build a new culture at Texas, Steve Sarkisian expected a lot of attrition of the players that Tom Herman recruited in his 2019 class, which has turned out to be disappointing. One of those players who never really got the chance to prove himself is defensive lineman Myron Warren, who announced he will be transferring to Texas State.

The Louisiana native recorded three career tackles as a Longhorn, and was unfortunately buried on the depth chart behind more experienced and productive players like Ta’Quon Graham (Atlanta Falcons), Moro Ojomo, Alfred Collins and the slew of recruits that will join in the fall.

He will be immediately eligible thanks to the implementation of the one-time transfer rule that allows each athlete to transfer once without penalty.

The Longhorns are beginning to see some players filter out after the conclusion of spring football, as junior defensive tackle Myron Warren took to Twitter to announce his intentions to transfer on Tuesday. Continue reading “Texas defensive tackle Myron Warren to enter the transfer portal”

Report: Longhorns’ Myron Warren no longer in transfer portal

According to a report from 247Sports, Texas redshirt freshman defensive lineman Myron Warren has removed himself from the transfer portal.

It was only a few days ago that Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Myron Warren put his name into the transfer portal. Texas has seen this occur a few times this offseason with Anthony Cook and Juwan Mitchell. Much like the previous two cases it appears that Warren has removed his name from the portal and will continue his playing career in Austin per 247Sports.

According to Chip Brown of Horns247, Warren removed himself on Monday morning.

According to a 247Sports check of the transfer portal, Warren’s name was removed shortly after 10 am CT on Monday.

Warren came to Austin as part of the Longhorns’ 2019 class and did not play last season. He ranked as the No. 289 overall player in the 247Sports Composite that cycle. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Louisiana native is expected to be a part of the Longhorns’ two-deep this season as a redshirt freshman, potentially backing up defensive tackle Ta’Quon Graham.

The redshirt freshman is looking to get into the mix among the defensive line now headed up by new defensive coordinator Chris Ash. The report also stats that Warren could be in the mix at nose tackle as a backup for Keondre Coburn.

Despite rumors swirling around the possible cancellation of the college football season, the Longhorns are in the midst of fall camp. Provided the season continues as planned they will open up the year hosting Texas-El Paso on September 12th at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The kickoff time has yet to be announced. As the Big 12 meeting draws near, we hope to have some finality on all these questions.

Texas Football: Myron Warren has put his name in the transfer portal

According to a report from 247Sports and Chris Hummer, redshirt freshman Myron Warren has placed his name in the transfer portal.

The Texas Longhorns started fall camp on Friday and there is a sizable buzz around the defense. The defensive line with Joseph Ossai and company are expected to make a much larger impact in the 2020 season than they did a year ago. One of those players among the defensive line isn’t going to be there to help.

According to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer, redshirt freshman defensive end Myron Warren has placed his name in the transfer portal.

Warren came to Austin as part of the Longhorns’ 2019 class and did not play last season. He ranked as the No. 289 overall player in the 247Sports Composite that cycle. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Louisiana native was expected to be a part of the Longhorns’ two-deep this season as a redshirt freshman, potentially backing up Ta’Quon Graham.

Coming out of Many, Louisiana Warren was the 17th ranked strong side defensive end in the country and 15th overall in the state of Louisiana. He would need a push to get into the rotation behind Ta’Quon Graham. Likely battling senior Marquez Bimage and the highly touted Alfred Collins for snaps. The four-star defensive end will begin talking with other schools about a potential landing spot ahead of the 2020 college football season.

In the past Tom Herman has been able to talk players out of the transfer portal. Most recently Anthony Cook and Juwan Mitchell both put their name in the portal before withdrawing. It isn’t a foregone conclusion that Warren will leave the program but it just might be a way to find out if there is a better situational fit for him in the NCAA.
