Michigan State football has officially extended an offer to NC State commit edge rusher Mykah Newton.

Newton announced the offer from the Spartans on Thursday. August 1 is the first day that schools can officially hand out an offer to prospects in the 2025 class.

Newton is a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 63 edge rusher in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 821 overall prospect in the class.

Newton verbally committed to NC State over the Spartans and UCF a few weeks ago. But it appears the Spartans will continue to recruit him until he officially signs elsewhere.

Mykah Newton made the trip to East Lansing for an official visit this summer, checking out Michigan State as a potential college destination. Unfortunately for MSU, he will be heading elsewhere for college.

Newton, a Florida native, made the decision to commit to North Carolina State over Michigan State and UCF, who made his top three, among others.

Michigan State football makes top 3, commit date coming for DL target

A Florida defensive lineman has named his top three, set a commitment date in July:

Michigan State hosted defensive line prospect Mykah Newton on an official visit to open the month of June, and the Spartans are now trying to close the deal with the 3-star from Newberry, Florida.

Newton has announced his intention to commit on July 18, and has named Michigan State alongside NC State and UCF in his top three finalists.

As of now, their is no indication who is the leader for the 6-foot-2, 255 pound defensive lineman.

Michigan State has locked in another guest for an official visit.

Mykah Newton of Newberry, Fla. announced earlier this week that he’ll be taking an official visit to Michigan State on May 31. He is a three-star defensive lineman prospect in the 2025 class.

Newton ranks as the No. 71 edge rusher in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 962 overall prospect in the class.

Michigan State is one of more than 10 schools to offer Newton a scholarship, according to 247Sports. Other Georgia Tech, NC State, UCF, Tulane and Florida Atlantic are a few of the more notable programs to also offer Newton.
