Derrick Henry can help the Ravens avoid another hiccup vs. Bengals

it’s time the Baltimore Ravens stop treating HB Derrick Henry as an added commodity and focus on making him the primary option on offense.

Quarterback Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are in town to face the Baltimore Ravens for Thursday night football. To neutralize Burrow and the stellar Bengals pass game, the Ravens should rely on running back Derrick Henry to both lead the offensive attack and milk the game clock.

The 6-3 Ravens cannot afford another hiccup in week 10, especially versus an AFC North foe. Currently sitting behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the division standings, the Ravens need to put their foot down in primetime, and the entire world will be watching.

In Week 8, Henry was limited to just 11 carries, and the Ravens lost 24-29 to the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens have three losses on their season record, and only one of those opponents is currently in playoff contention. Nevertheless, all hope is not lost as offensive coordinator Todd Monken keeps Henry well-fed in tonight’s attack.

Henry’s 23 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns were complete staples to the Ravens’ 41-10 victory over the Denver Broncos last Sunday. Sure, quarterback Lamar Jackson had a great outing, but it’s time the Ravens stopped pretending that Henry was just an added commodity and focused on making him the primary option on offense.

Ultimately, if the Ravens get into a shootout against the Bengals as they did in week 5, favor might not grant them the last-minute victory like last time. Thus, the Ravens must stay ahead of schedule and feed Henry the ball.

Ravens OC Todd Monken is just getting his NFL legacy started

Baltimore Ravens OC Todd Monken helped the Ravens finish No. 4 in the NFL in points per game last season. What can we expect in year two?

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken helped the Ravens finish No. 4 in the NFL in points per game last season, and he’ll return in 2024 with an offense full of proven star talent and youth.

Monken reciprocal respect for head coach John Harbaugh has been precious. Monken’s mastermind has already been emphatic for the team. Historically known for its defensive prestige, the Ravens franchise may soon be transitioning into an offensive juggernaut under Monken.

It seems like a pure no-brainer, right? Monken should focus on optimizing running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Lamar Jackson in the ground game this upcoming season. However, Monken knows the team must be more balanced than predictable.

Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers will need his touches, and tight-end Mark Andrews will also be expecting his targets in the passing game. Therefore, the art of play sequencing will be most important for Monken and the Ravens’ offense this upcoming season. Will Monken opt for the no-huddle, and will his youthful personnel be ready for an uptempo play style that may entail a vast and dynamic playbook?

Certainly, these are all questions Monken will be looking to answer when the full roster reports for Training Camp on Jul. 20. For now, he’ll enjoy getting reps in with the rookies, including Devontez Walker, whom he has already spoken highly of.

M&T Bank Stadium to host USMNT captain Christian Pulisic and AC Milan this summer

part of the Soccer Champions Tour, and it provides local fans a chance to see “Capt. America” Christian Pulisic play in person.

The Baltimore Ravens will be hosting football of a different sort on Tuesday, August 6, when FC Barcelona and AC Milan kick off at M&T Bank Stadium. Announced earlier today, this exhibition is part of the Soccer Champions Tour, allowing local fans to see “Capt. America” Christian Pulisic play in person.

Already one of the most decorated American soccer players, Pulisic is often talked about as having potential for the United States Men’s National Team G.O.A.T. He’ll have a large cheering contingent in hand, too, as his hometown of Hershey, Pennsylvania, is less than 90 miles away.

Milan is one of the most famous and accomplished clubs in the world, having won seven European Cups (the second-most of all time, behind only Real Madrid’s 14), 19 Serie A (the top flight in Italy) league titles, five Italian Cups (Coppa Italia), five European Super Cups, and two Cup Winners’ Cups.

In addition to Pulisic, the Rossoneri boast a second USMNT star on their squad in Yunus Musah.

Meanwhile, their opponents, Barcelona, are widely considered one of the three most prominent clubs in the world, alongside Madrid and Manchester United. Almost every annual ranking that tracks metrics of a club’s brand power and wealth has these three clubs up near the top.

“We are excited to bring to Baltimore two of the most iconic soccer franchises in the world, FC Barcelona and AC Milan,” Ravens president Sashi Brown said.

“Hosting international soccer matches at M&T Bank Stadium shows the Mid-Atlantic’s growing demand and passion for the beautiful game and the Ravens’ commitment to bringing world-class sports and entertainment events to the greater Baltimore region.”

Two summers ago, M&T Bank Stadium hosted Everton and Arsenal (who had far more supporters in attendance than their opponents) in what was branded the “Charm City Match.”

The venue has also previously hosted CONCACAF Gold Cup matches.

A drone flying over the stadium completely stopped Thursday night’s Bengals – Ravens game

Oh, c’mon, who flew the drone over the Bengals – Ravens game?

In what embodies the NFL in 2023 more than anything we’ve seen recently, a drone stopped play during Thursday night’s Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals game.

During the game’s second quarter, a drone flashing red and green lights hovered above M&T Bank Stadium as Amazon’s game cameras shifted from the field to the sky to show the flying nuisance.

Veteran broadcaster Al Michaels had to send the game to a commercial break as game officials figured out a way to get this drone out of the field of play so that the game could resume.

If you were the person flying this drone above the stadium, we have a feeling you might not be invited back to a Ravens game anytime soon. Just a hunch.

As momentarily humorous as it is to see an entire NFL game halted because somebody flew a drone over the stadium, it is incredibly annoying for everyone on the field and in the stands to have their nights delayed by this prankish disruption.

At the least, we hope the NFL figures out a way to keep these pesky drones away from open-air stadiums sooner than later so the show can go on.

Lamar Jackson may target WR Odell Beckham Jr & Zay Flowers vs. Lions

Lamar Jackson should should target both Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers when Lions show man coverage today.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson should target both wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers in 1-on-1 man coverage situations by throwing to them underneath today. This strategy can be done through shallow crosser concepts and quick slant routes.

The Ravens must force the Detroit Lions into playing man coverage and they can only successfully do this by establishing the run. With quarterback Lamar Jackson being used in the run game more frequently this season, the Ravens should sequence in no-huddle tempo after positive running plays to offset the Lions pass-rush. The no-huddle offense should be used to get both wide receiver Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr into space.

Understand, if Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken tries to sequence in too many deep passing plays, he will leave his offensive line at the mercy of Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. Baltimore must avoid being sacked too many times if they plan on coming out victorious.

Ravens, M&T Bank extend partnership for 15 years

The Ravens and M&T Bank announce they they will extend their partnership for an extra 15 years

The Baltimore Ravens are getting ready for the NFL Draft next week, but the organization is working on business dealings elsewhere for the longevity of the franchise. The team is known to have one of the best stadium experiences in the NFL, with the branding of M&T Bank being the name that is so familiar throughout all of Baltimore because of it.

On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that the Ravens and M&T Bank extended their strategic partnership, including the stadium name rights.  The agreement is for 15 years through the 2037 football season.

M&T Bank Stadium has seen its fair share of great events, playoff football, comeback wins, concerts, soccer matches, draft day events, and more, so to be able to keep the naming rights is crucial for the organization. Hopefully there are plenty more successful events in the stadium’s future.

M&T Bank Stadium to host Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks in October

M&T Bank Stadium will host Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks in October.

The Baltimore Ravens are preparing to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022 Wildcard Round of the playoffs. However in the meantime, a major concert announcement was held today at M&T Bank Stadium with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, Ravens President Sashi Brown, a representative from Live Nation DC-Baltimore and more.

The major concert will be happening on Saturday, October 7th and it will feature musicians Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks.  Tickets will go on sale at 10am EST next Friday, January 20th, and will likely sell out quickly due to the magnitude of the event.

Having a multi-purpose stadium is good for the city of Baltimore, providing more opportunities that go far beyond football. This is the first true concert at M&T Bank Stadium in a long time, as country superstar Garth Brooks was set to perform at the Bank before cancelling his tour.  Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks are both musical icons so this will likely be a sold out show.
