Michigan State football vs. Boston College injury report released

Michigan State football will be missing four of their top wide receivers against Boston College

It is expected to be a rainy night in Boston tonight for Michigan State football’s match-up against Boston College, so hopefully this doesn’t impact a game plan too much that should include a lot of rush attempts, but the injury report was released for MSU’s game vs. Boston College on Saturday night, and the Spartans will be missing four of their top receivers.

We were expecting to see Nick Marsh and Jaron Glover out tonight, but it was a surprise to see Antonio Gates Jr. listed as well.

In addition to the four wide receivers, the Spartans will also be missing a key offensive lineman and safety Dillon Tatum. You can see the full report below:

Michigan State football still not receiving votes in the AP poll

The media isn’t quite as high on the Spartans as the coaches are after a 3-0 start to the season:

For two straight weeks, the Michigan State football team has received votes in the US LBM Coaches Poll. However, the Spartans are still not receiving any votes in the AP poll, as the media seems to be more skeptical about MSU than the coaches.

While it might be slightly disappointing, it’s not exactly surprising. Even though the Spartans blew out Prairie View A&M on Saturday, the media will probably want to see them prove one more time before inserting them into the mix for the top-25. Next week’s match-up against Boston College will be the perfect opportunity for the Spartans, if they win, to elevate themselves into that conversation.

Michigan State basketball F Coen Carr’s deleted Instagram story sparks speculation

Coen Carr deleted a pretty negative Instagram story today that, at first glance, didn’t seem great regarding his future at MSU

Michigan State basketball got a huge influx of athleticism on the roster last year when they added 4-star forward Coen Carr to the program. The combo forward has some of the best hops in the game of basketball, period, and many have been looking forward to seeing him get an expanded role as he develops.

However, a short-lived Instagram story post on Thursday shed a little doubt, seemingly nowhere, about his future at MSU, and maybe in the sport of basketball.

An Instagram story posted and then quickly deleted by Carr today has been making the rounds on social media, and it gave a very short and cryptic message:

‘Think about quitting this everyday.’

https://twitter.com/msucontent/status/1834381516643705096

Now, we don’t know exactly what Carr was referring to here, although it seems to imply he thinks about quitting basketball, or quitting basketball at MSU. But it’s important to keep in mind that these are very young men going through college and it’s hard for us as outsiders to say exactly what he was thinking here.

Also, playing college basketball is tough, especially a Tom Izzo fall camp, during grind week, getting ready for the season. It’s possible that Carr just went through an extremely difficult practice and was frustrated, which is very understandable.

Watch Michigan State football WR coach Courtney Hawkins address the media about Maryland win

Courtney Hawkins addressed the media about the Maryland win on Tuesday

In Michigan State football’s win over Maryland on Saturday, it was pretty obvious that one of the big winners on the day were the wide receivers and wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins.

A rare assistant coach who was able to stick around through two separate head coaches now, Courtney Hawkins is the only coach on the team who gets to coach players he recruited himself. Coach Hawkins seemed very happy being able to see the fruits of his labor, which came from many different players, but especially from the fantastic play of Big Ten Freshman of the Week Nick Marsh.

The best part of this interview is when Hawkins talks about how he’s recruiting players who will be able to knock him out of the top-10 ranking of most yards in one game by a wide receiver in MSU history, where he is still ranked No. 7.

Michigan State football upsets Maryland on the road to remain unbeaten

Michigan State upsets Maryland on the road

It wasn’t always pretty, but Michigan State football was able to overcome penalties and turnovers to upset Maryland on the road, 27-24.

The Spartans, who were over a touchdown underdogs in the game, had 10 penalties and quarterback Aidan Chiles had three interceptions, but thanks to some huge plays courtesy of Chiles, along with some gutsy play by the defense in crunch time, the Spartans were able to come away with this one.

Chiles finished with 363 yards and three touchdowns to go along with three interceptions. MSU’s tandem rushing attack of Nathan Carter and Kay’Ron Adams combines for 105 yards.

While Chiles showed off his arm, the really notable part of the offense today was the play of freshman wide receiver Nick Marsh, who exploded for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Jaron Glover and Montorie Foster Jr. also added receiving touchdowns.

Kicker Jonathan Kim also deserves a shoutout. Kim won the game in the closing seconds with a field goal, and he also hit a 50-yarder earlier in the game.

The Spartans will now take an unbeaten record back home to face Prairie View A&M next weekend.

Michigan State football offers 2026 quarterback Ryan Hopkins

Michigan State football is back in the swing of things in terms of playing real games, but their new staff is also still on the recruiting trail, pushing hard to find the next generation of Spartans to come to East Lansing.

This week, the Spartans offered Ryan Hopkins a scholarship. Hopkins is a 6-foot-3, 195 lb. quarterback out of J Serra Catholic in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Michigan State is his first Division I offer.

Michigan State football tight end addresses media to preview Maryland game, recap FAU

Michael Masunas talked to the media on Tuesday

It wasn’t the prettiest win on Friday, but Michigan State football managed to escape week one of the college football season undefeated with a 16 to 10 win over FAU.

While the offense was criticized after the game, one of the bright spots was the play of Michael Masunas, a sophomore tight end who caught two passes for 29 yards, doubling his catch total from last year.

Masunas addressed the media on Tuesday, and you can watch that below:

Michigan State football vs. FAU game delayed due to weather

Michigan State will have to wait just a few extra minutes to start their season

Shortly before kickoff, it was reported by Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press that the Michigan State football vs. FAU game has been delayed due to weather.

The good news is that kickoff was only pushed back ten minutes to 7:10pm ET as long as the weather permits.

Michigan State football teases return of beloved entrance song, debuts uniforms for FAU game

Michigan State football teases return of beloved entrance song, debuts uniforms for FAU game

For years, when Michigan State football took the field in Spartan Stadium, they would do so to AC/DC’s classic song ‘Thunderstruck.’ That changed under the last regime, but in a video posted by MSU’s social media team on Wednesday, they teased the return of Thunderstruck while showing off the uniforms for their season opener.

Thunderstruck did return last year under interim coach Harlon Barnett, and it looks like Jonathan Smith is going to keep that tradition alive:
