Kickoff time information for Michigan State football vs. Rutgers announced

We now know when the final MSU football game of the year will kickoff

For what has to be the first time ever, Michigan State will make it through the entire football season without a single noon kickoff.

The details for MSU’s final game of the season at home against Rutgers on Nov. 30 were revealed on Monday, and it will be another later game, this time kicking off at 3:30pm ET.

We knew there would be a lot of changes this year following the Big Ten’s expansion, but this trend of not having any noon games has gotten a bit out of control.

Michigan State football falls to Illinois on the road

Michigan State falls to Illinois on the road

Michigan State football, missing multiple starters, especially in the secondary, went into Champaign on Saturday needing a win, but they were stymied by Illinois in just about every way, losing 38 to 16 on the road.

This was a tale of two different games for MSU. In the first half, it was the Spartans’ defense that struggled, while the offense showed some life. That switched in the second half, when the offense struggled and couldn’t capitalize on some nice stops by the defense. It was not complimentary football and it was another ugly loss for MSU.

The one highlight for Michigan State today? No turnovers for Aidan Chiles despite some awful pass protection from his offensive line.

Michigan State will have a good chance to bounce back next week with a game against Purdue.

Michigan State women’s basketball blows out Eastern Kentucky to remain undefeated

Michigan State women’s basketball blows out Eastern Kentucky to remain undefeated

Michigan State women’s basketball might not be unranked for much longer. On Thursday night, the Spartans continued their onslaught, this time against Eastern Kentucky, who the Spartans trounced 96 to 54.

This moves MSU to 4-0 on the season, with all of their wins coming by way of massive blowouts like this one.

Julia Ayrault led the way tonight with 19 points and eight rebounds. Theryn Hallock, Grace VanSlooten, and Juliann Woodard also scored in double figures.

MSu will face Western Michigan next on Sunday at 5pm ET.

Tom Izzo teases match-up between Michigan State and Duke in 2025 in the Breslin Center

Tom Izzo teased a match-up with Duke in the Breslin Center on his weekly radio show

Every year, we get the pleasure of seeing Michigan State basketball play against some of the top programs in the country when they face one of Kentucky, Duke, or Kansas in the annual Champions Classic. On his weekly radio show, Tom Izzo talked about his desire to bring more of those marquee match-ups to the Breslin Center, starting with a potential home-and-home series with Duke that would start with a game in East Lansing in 2025.

Izzo teased the news on his weekly radio show, which you can watch here.

The Champions Classic apparently featured a basketball the players don’t usually play with

This would explain a lot of the poor shooting we saw in the Champions Classic

Last night in the Champions Classic, we saw Michigan State shoot 12-percent from three, Duke shoot 17-percent, and Kansas shoot 29-percent. According to Matt Jones of Ky Sports Radio, this could have been due to the use of a Spalding basketball in the games that teams don’t usually play with.

Even more interesting, Jones said that Kansas, who shot 40-percent from three last night, practiced with the Spalding ball all week. It seems like that foresight and practice paid off.

So, for Michigan State fans who are doom and gloom after watching the team shoot so poorly from three, there may have been some other factors in that. That being said, MSU hasn’t really shot well in any of their games this year, so take it with a grain of salt.

Michigan State football bringing back fan-favorite uniforms, logo for Illinois game

Michigan State football bringing back fan-favorite uniforms, logo for Illinois game

I think it would be fair to say that Jonathan Smith is a little more conservative when it comes to the uniform combinations he selects for his Michigan State football team. There’s nothing wrong with that, as Mark Dantonio was similar, but this weekend, the Spartans are giving the fans a treat for one of their last games of the season.

MSU will bring back their iconic ‘Gruff Sparty’ logo for their game against Illinois on Saturday, wearing them with the all-white ‘Stormtrooper’ uniform combination.

You can watch the video of them re-debuting the ‘Gruff Sparty’ logo and all-white ‘Stormtrooper’ uniforms here.

Hunter Dickinson compliments Tom Izzo, Michigan State basketball after win over Spartans

Hunter Dickinson compliments Tom Izzo, Michigan State basketball after win over Spartans

Michigan State basketball went up against a familiar foe on Tuesday night when Hunter Dickinson and Kansas beat the Spartans in the Champions Classic.

According to reporting from Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press, Dickinson was complimentary of Tom Izzo after the game, saying he knew Izzo, as a Hall of Famer, would have Michigan State ready for. He also said he thinks MSU will be a top-25 team by the end of the season, but that they aren’t there yet.

Michigan State basketball falls to Kansas in the Champions Classic

Michigan State goes ice cold and drops their Champions Classic match-up against Kansas

Michigan State basketball participated in the Champions Classic on Tuesday night with a match-up against Kansas. Unfortunately, the Spartans went ice cold from the floor and fell to the Jayhawks 77 to 69.

Honestly, it’s actually impressive that MSU only lost by 8. I know no one wants a moral victory after a frustrating loss, but Michigan State shot 3-for-24 from three on the night but still annoyed Kansas and hung around against the No. 1 ranked team in the country.

Frankie Fidler and Jaxon Kohler led the way in scoring for MSU, with 15 and 12 points respectively. For Kansas, Hunter Dickinson dropped 28 points.

This was a tough game for Jaden Akins as it looked like Kansas was determined to make his life miserable all night and force other players to beat them. He only had two points on the night, but, in his defense, the Jayhawks were very focused on him specifically.

Michigan State will have a chance to get back in the winning column on Saturday when they play Bowling Green.

Champions Classic renewed through 2028-29 basketball season

The Champions Classic has been renewed through the 2028-29 season

The Champions Classic will continue. The annual event that features Michigan State, Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas in revolving match-ups has been renewed through the 2028-29 basketball season.

The news came the day of this year’s event, which included MSU vs. Kansas. Next year, the Spartans are scheduled to play Kentucky. This year, MSU was given some grief from fans of other teams for their inclusion in the event. This writer’s opinion is that this criticism is ridiculous.

John Fanta of CBB on Fox reported the news.

MSU will be heavily favored in their next three games before they face their first big test of the season on November 26 against Cal.
