Michigan State basketball led throughout nearly the entire game and capped off the regular season with a victory over Ohio State, 84-78, on Saturday afternoon.

With the win Michigan State improved to 19-11 overall and 11-8 in conference play this year. The Spartans will now await Sunday’s results from across the Big Ten to see who they’ll face next week in the Big Ten Tournament.

It’s been a hard few days for Spartans everywhere and that includes Michigan State men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo

It’s been a hard few days for Spartans everywhere and that includes Michigan State men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo.

Izzo was one of many who’ve been affected and hurt by Monday night’s mass shooting on campus that resulted in the deaths of three students. Those three students were honored on Wednesday night during a candlelight vigil at “The Rock” on Michigan State’s campus. Following the vigil were speeches from numerous figures ranging from Governor Gretchen Whitmer to student leaders to Izzo.

See what Tom Izzo had to say about the Spartans’ rivalry victory over Michigan on Saturday

It wasn’t pretty but Michigan State basketball found a way in the end.

The Spartans used strong defense to top rival Michigan, 59-53, on Saturday afternoon at the Breslin Center. Michigan State led throughout most of the game, and never trailed in the second half.

With the win, Michigan State improves to 11-4 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. The Spartans will return to the floor on Tuesday in a tough road matchup against Wisconsin.

Michigan State basketball picked up a massive win on Tuesday night.

The Spartans used a pair of late-game rallies to overcome deficits and steal a win over highly-ranked Kentucky, 86-77, in double overtime of the Champions Classic. Michigan State used huge games from Mady Sissoko, Malik Hall and Joey Hauser to get the win over the Wildcats.

Michigan State’s Mel Tucker and Tom Izzo stepped away from the field and court on Sunday, and hit the race track as co-grand marshals at the NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400.

The race was held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich. and featured some of NASCAR’s best race car drivers. Check out some photos of Tucker and Izzo from the event:
