MSU SG Jase Richardson talks how strong team chemistry helped lead to win over Illinois

MSU shooting guard Jase Richardson credits strong team chemistry in win over Illinois

Sunday’s win over Illinois was a sign that something is different about this year’s Spartans’ squad compared to previous years. One potential reason for the improved play from Michigan State this year is team chemistry, according to Jase Richardson.

Michigan State overcame a poor start to knock off ranked foe Illinois from the Breslin Center. The Spartans won by the final score of 80-78.

Michigan State trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but a strong finish to the opening frame resulted in a tie game at the break. The second half was back-and-forth most of the way, and it came down to Michigan State holding off Illinois in the final seconds of the game for the win.

With the win, Michigan State remains perfect in Big Ten play with a 7-0 conference mark. The Spartans are now 16-2 overall and have won 11 straight games.

Michigan State vs. Illinois predictions, picks, odds

Michigan State 82, Illinois 77: This is going to be a great matchup and one that could end up being high-scoring. If the Spartans can’t hit their shots from outside, then they won’t be able to keep up with the Fighting Illini. I think they do and also make enough defensive plays down the stretch to get the win.
