MSU QB Aidan Chiles is pumped about about the Spartans’ latest transfer portal addition

See MSU starting QB Aidan Chiles’ reaction to Kent State WR Chrishon McCray’s commitment to the Spartans

Michigan State football’s offense got better on Monday night through the transfer portal, and starting quarterback Aidan Chiles is pumped about it.

The Spartans picked up a big-time transfer portal addition on Monday night when Kent State wide receiver Chrishon McCray announced his commitment to Michigan State. McCray was an All-Mid American Conference selection this past season and recorded 81 receptions for 1,315 yards and 13 touchdowns over the last two seasons. Nine of those scores in 2024.

So this transfer portal win obviously fired up the Spartans’ fanbase but it also got Chiles’ attention in a good way. Chiles took to Instagram to comment on McCray’s commitment post, and said “I’m so happy (right now).”

Click here to see the comment from Chiles.

The Spartans have instantly improved its wide receivers room in the past few days with McCray and Middle Tennesse State transfer Omari Kelly’s commitments. Those two alongside sophomore Nick Marsh should create an improved wide receivers unit for Chiles and the Spartans in 2025.

Michigan State football lands commitment from All-MAC transfer wide receiver

The Spartans have landed an All-MAC wide receiver through the transfer portal

Michigan State football continues to rebuild their team, and specifically their wide receiver room that saw a mass exodus after the season. On Monday, the Spartans received a commitment from former Kent State star wide receiver Chrishon McCray to join MSU via the transfer portal.

McCray is the second wide receiver to join MSU through the portal, joining Omari Kelly, formerly of MTSU.

This was a pretty big move by the Spartans, as McCray was second team All-MAC last year for Kent State, scoring nine touchdowns on the year. He also caught 40 passes for 705 yards. It’ll be very interesting to see what he can do with a quarterback at the level of Aidan Chiles throwing him the ball.

Slim chances of MSU Football going bowling dashed by Louisiana Tech

For about an hour or two on Saturday, there was a slim chance we could see Michigan State play another game this year

For about an hour or two on Saturday, there was a slim chance we could see Michigan State play another game this year. But that was dashed thanks to Louisana Tech.

As we noted in a post yesterday, Marshall was forced to drop out of the Independence Bowl due to the number of players entering the transfer portal, and it opened the window for a 5-7 team to take their spot. So for a short amount of time, there was a chance Michigan State would be asked to play in Marshall’s spot. However, that is no longer in play.

Brett McMurphy of Action Network reported on Saturday afternoon that Louisiana Tech would take Marshall’s spot in the Indpendence Bowl. The Bulldogs were also 5-7 and are located close to Shreveport, Louisiana where the bowl game is played.

There was never really a great chance of Michigan State landing in this bowl game as there were a ton of logistical items that would make it unlikely. But we now know for sure that it won’t be happening. We will have to wait until August 2025 to see Michigan State football take the field again.
