WATCH: ‘Talkin’ Spartans’ crew breaks down MSU football’s loss vs. Washington

Hear what the Talkin’ Spartans crew had to say about Michigan State’s blowout loss vs. Washington on Saturday

It wasn’t pretty for Michigan State on Saturday.

The Spartans were dominated by the visiting Washington Huskies on Saturday evening, losing 41-7. Michigan State was outgained by nearly 500 yards and, quite frankly, could have lost by an even worse score.

So what did the media covering the team think? Hear Graham Couch of the Lansing State Journal, and Chris Solari and Shawn Windsor of the Detroit Free Press break down the Spartans’ disappointing showing below:

Popular CFB podcast host lists MSU as worst team in Big Ten following Washington loss

Michigan State’s loss to Washington on Saturday was bad but this seems a little bit extreme…

Is Michigan State the worst team in the Big Ten? That’s the case according to one national college football media figure.

Brandon Walker of Barstool Sports’ popular “Unnecessary Roughness” podcast releases weekly power rankings, and this week he had the Spartans at the bottom of the Big Ten. This comes after Michigan State was dominated by Washington on Saturday, losing 41-7.

For comparison, I listed Michigan State at No. 9 in my updated weekly Big Ten power rankings that came out today. So I obviously have some objection to what Walker released on Sunday morning. At the same time, I can see how some would believe the Spartans have hit rock bottom after that embarrassing performance against the Huskies.

Check out Walker’s complete Big Ten power rankings following Week 3 action below:

Popular podcast host puts MSU in upper half of updated Big Ten power rankings

Brandon Walker of Unnecessary Roughness has MSU listed in the upper half of the league following week one action

Michigan State was one of the few Big Ten teams to win and cover the spread this weekend so should they rank amongst their peers? Brandon Walker of Barstool Sports’ popular podcast Unnecessary Roughness thinks its in the upper half of the league.

Walker has released power rankings for numerous power conferences as the first full week of the 2023 college football season wrapped up on Monday. That includes the Big Ten where Walker has the Spartans at No. 7 in the league — one spot behind Ohio State and one spot ahead of Rutgers.

For reference, I personally had Michigan State at No. 6 in our first edition of weekly power rankings which can be found by clicking here. So I’m not too off from Walker on where I see the Spartans fitting in with the rest of the league.
