ESPN FPI lists Spartans as near lock to beat Richmond this week

See what odds ESPN’s Football Power Index gives Michigan State to beat Richmond this week

Michigan State is a near lock to beat FCS foe Richmond this week, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI).

ESPN FPI lists the Spartans’ chances of beating the Spiders to improve to 2-0 on the season at 98.4 percent. That is by far the highest odds for any remaining Michigan State game this year.

Richmond is coming off a disappointing 17-10 loss against Morgan State in their season-opener this past weekend. The Spiders entered the 2023 season ranked in the preseason FCS coaches poll and were expected to win this past weekend.

With this being a matchup between a FBS and FCS team, there aren’t any betting odds listed at this time.

Kickoff from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
