REPORT, Saddi Washington to interview for Michigan State basketball assistant job

A former Michigan assistant is reportedly interviewing for MSU’s vacancy

Michigan State basketball head coach Tom Izzo is tasked with replacing Mark Montgomery on his bench after the MSU assistant took the head coaching position at Detroit Mercy.

Spartans Wire compiled a list of potential candidates for the position, and among that list was former Michigan assistant Saddi Washington. It now looks like Washington will be a candidate getting a look from Izzo.

Rumors circling social media have surfaced that Washington will be conducting an interview MSU tomorrow. It is unclear at this time if it is a formal in person interview or a zoom call.

Washington would be a solid replacement and would get the endorsement of two coaches Izzo respects a ton in John Beilein and Greg Kampe.

Up until this week, Michigan State Football has had some of the better COVID-19 results in the country. However, after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this week, the team paused all workouts. Today, it was announced that the team will enter a two-week quarantine after one more staff member and one student-athlete tested positive for the virus.

No details were released about the state of those who tested positive, but we wish a speedy recovery to those who received positive tests if they are experiencing symptoms and we applaud Michigan State for their diligence in quickly pausing workouts and now quarantining the team to prevent further spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Here are both statements from the team:

WATCH: The MSU Football coaching staff shows off their remote work setups

The Michigan State Football coaching staff took the time to show off how they are working through the COVID-19 outbreak.

Today, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the ‘Stay Home; Stay Safe’ order to keep Michigan families safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Many Michigan employees have already been working from home, and that includes the Michigan State Football coaching staff. In a fun video, Mel Tucker’s new coaching staff showed off their ‘work from home’ office setups.

This isn’t just a cool way to see how other workers are handling the quarantine, but it’s also a fun way to meet the new members of the MSU Football coaching staff. You can watch the video below:
