Bears interviewing Morocco Brown, Eliot Wolf for GM vacancy on Tuesday

Colts’ Morocco Brown and Patriots’ Eliot Wolf will interview with the Bears for their vacant GM job on Tuesday.

The Chicago Bears are in the middle of their search for their next head coach and general manager after firing Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace last week. And there’s been quite a diverse group of candidates that they’ve requested to interview.

The expectation is that the Bears cast a wide net of candidates for a first round of video interviews. For those candidates who stand out, they’ll be invited back for an in-person interview.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bears will interview Indianapolis Colts director of college scouting New England Patriots executive Eliot Wolf for their vacant GM job on Tuesday.

Brown makes a ton of sense for the Bears as he spent seven years with the organization as their assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-07. He’s served as the right-hand man to Colts GM Chris Ballard, where he’s been a big part of the success that Indianapolis has had in the NFL draft.

Wolf spent his first 13 years with the Packers. He started as a pro personnel assistant in 2004 and climbed his way to director of football operations in 2016. He left Green Bay to serve as the Browns assistant GM (2018-19) and currently serves as director of scouting with New England. The Patriots reorganized their front office this year, and Wolf is believed to be a big part of that.

Here’s a look at the complete list of head coach and GM candidates the Bears have requested to interview:

Bears interviewing 2 former Browns execs for their GM vacancy

A couple of former Browns execs are in the running for the GM vacancy in Chicago

A pair of former Cleveland Browns front office executives are in the running for the vacant GM position with the Chicago Bears. Both Morocco Brown and Eliot Wolf are slated to interview with the Bears to replace recently fired GM Ryan Pace.

Brown was the vice president of player personnel in Cleveland in 2014-2015 under GM Ray Farmer. He’s been with the Indianapolis Colts since, ascending to the role of director of college scouting.

Wolf was the Browns’ assistant GM under John Dorsey in the 2018-2019 seasons. After leaving Cleveland, Wolf joined the New England Patriots as their scouting director. He interviewed for GM positions last offseason but stuck with the Patriots.

If the Bears hire either Brown or Wolf, it would spread the Cleveland legacy in the NFC North. Dorsey is a senior personnel executive for the Detroit Lions, while current Browns VP or football operations Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is a strong candidate to earn the Minnesota Vikings GM position.

Bears GM candidate profile: Get to know Morocco Brown

We’re taking an in-depth look at what Morocco Brown brings to the table in our Bears GM candidate profile.

The Chicago Bears fired general manager Ryan Pace after seven seasons, and they’ve wasted no time exploring candidates to replace him.

Chairman George McCaskey, President/CEO Ted Phillips and Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian will conduct the search for Chicago’s next GM, a process which McCaskey promised would be “thorough, diligent and exhausted.”

The Bears have cast a wide net of GM candidates that they’ve extended interviews to, including Indianapolis Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown.

Let’s take an in-depth look at what Brown brings to the table in our Bears GM candidate profile:

Bears request to interview Colts’ Morocco Brown for GM job

The Bears have put in a request to interview Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their GM vacancy.

The Chicago Bears fired general manager Ryan Pace after seven seasons on Monday, which leaves a gaping hole to fill in the front office.

Bears Chairman George McCaskey said the organization is going to conduct a “thorough, diligent and exhausted” search for a new GM and head coach, as Matt Nagy was also fired.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears have put in a request to interview Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their GM opening.

That lines up with what NBC Sports Chicago’s Adam Hoge reported, which is that Brown was a “strong” candidate for the vacant GM position.

Brown makes a ton of sense for the Bears as he spent seven years with the organization as their assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-07. He’s served as the right-hand man to Colts GM Chris Ballard, where he’s been a big part of the success that Indianapolis has had in the NFL draft.

Brown interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ GM job last year. He’s considered one of the top GM candidates around the NFL this cycle.

Report: Colts’ Morocco Brown a candidate for Bears GM role

Colts’ Morocco Brown is reportedly a GM candidate for the Chicago Bears.

Indianapolis Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown is expected to be a candidate for the Chicago Bears general manager role, per Adam Hoge of NBC Sports.

The Bears parted ways with both general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy on Monday following the conclusion of the regular season. Hoge reported that Brown is expected to be interviewed for the role and is considered to be a “strong candidate.”

Brown is expected to be interviewed for the position and is a “strong” candidate, according to league sources. That said, the Bears could focus on hiring a head coach first, which would heavily influence the general manager decision. The team began to do its homework on potential GM candidates last month and Brown was identified as a target. He is said to be interested in the position.

Brown has plenty of connections to the Bears. He spent seven years as the assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-2007. He’s also been very close with Colts general manager Chris Ballard over the last five years. Ballard also has plenty of history with the Bears organization.

Brown had an interview with the Atlanta Falcons during the 2021 offseason but nothing ever came of it. Given the success the team has had—despite this disappointing season—Brown is likely to be approached by a few teams this offseason.

Report: Colts’ Morocco Brown a candidate for Bears’ GM job

As the Bears begin their search for a new GM, there’s already a candidate emerging in Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown.

The Chicago Bears have cleaned house in firing both head coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace on Monday morning. Which means that finding Pace’s replacement at GM is among the top priorities right now.

As the Bears begin their search for a new general manager, there’s already a candidate emerging.

According to NBC Sports Chicago’s Adam Hoge, Indianapolis Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown is expected to interview for the GM opening and is considered a “strong” candidate.

Brown would make a ton of sense for the Bears considering he spent seven years with the organization as their assistant director of pro personnel from 2001-07. He’s also worked closely with Colts GM Chris Ballard, where he’s been integral in the draft process.

Brown, who interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ GM job last year, is considered one of the top GM candidates around the NFL.

Hoge also noted the Bears “could focus on hiring a head coach first, which would heavily influence the general manager decision.”

GM candidates the Giants could consider if they fire Dave Gettleman

With the New York Giants likely to part ways with general manager Dave Gettleman, here are several potential options to replace him.

The New York Giants are likely to move on from general manager Dave Gettleman following the season. Whether he’s fired or retires remains to be seen but either way, Big Blue will be thrust into another GM search.

If the Giants are firm in their commitment to head coach Joe Judge, that may thin out their pool of options. It may also strengthen the likelihood of landing a new GM that has previous ties to Judge.

Is that good or bad? We’ll let you decide.

With a GM swap all but a certainty, here’s a look at several potential options who could replace Gettleman in 2022 and beyond.

Colts’ Morocco Brown won’t be hired as Falcons’ new GM

Brown didn’t make it to the finalist stage.

Indianapolis Colts college scouting director Morocco Brown completed his interview with the Atlanta Falcons last week for their vacant general manager role, but he was informed Wednesday that he is not a finalist for the job.

Brown, who has been an integral part of the scouting department for the Colts, was one of many candidates to interview for the Falcons general manager role. Though he didn’t get it this time around, he is likely to get more opportunities in the future.

Brown has been a big factor in helping the Colts put together such strong draft classes over the years. He has been a major asset in bringing in players like Quenton Nelson, Darius Leonard, Braden Smith, Jonathan Taylor and Grover Stewart, to name a few.

While Brown will be returning to the Colts, assistant general manager Ed Dodds completed his interview with the Detroit Lions on Tuesday. He withdrew from the candidacy for the Carolina Panthers job but is still available for the Lions.

Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus has completed his interviews with the New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers for their vacant head coaching roles.

Falcons conduct interview with Colts’ Morocco Brown for GM role

Falcons interviewed Morocco Brown.

The Atlanta Falcons conducted their interview with Indianapolis Colts director of college scouting Morocco Brown for their vacant general manager role, the team announced Tuesday.

It was reported on Monday that the Falcons had requested an interview with Brown for their general manager role and though it was expected that the Colts would allow it, the process got done rather quickly.

Brown has been with the Colts every step of the way in terms of the roster construction since Chris Ballard took over the process in 2017. He has been a key part in bringing in a certain type of college prospect, and it isn’t really a surprise that he;s getting looks from other teams for their general manager roles.

Brown isn’t the only staff member for the Colts getting requests to interview from other teams, though. Defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus now has three teams wanting to interview him while assistant general manager Ed Dodds has been requested for an interview by the Carolina Panthers.

It will be interesting to see if this interview will lead anywhere for Brown, but it would be a major loss for the Colts if he heads to Atlanta.
