Morgan Cox is only Titan voted to first-ever NFLPA All-Pro team

Morgan Cox is the only Titans player to make the cut on the NFLPA’s first-ever All-Pro team.

The NFLPA announced its first-ever All-Pro team that is voted on by the players themselves, and Tennessee Titans long snapper Morgan Cox was the only player on the team to make the cut.

The voting criteria was this: only active players who didn’t miss five or more games in 2022 were eligible to vote, and they could not vote for themselves or for their teammates.

Also, each player was only allowed to vote for their own position group and for those position groups they play directly against.

The biggest snub from the Titans is punter Ryan Stonehouse, who crushed Sammy Baugh’s 82-year-old record for most gross average punt yards per attempt in a single season with 53.1.

He lost out to Kansas City Chiefs punter, Tommy Townsend, who led the NFL in net average yards per punt with 45.6. Stonehouse finished fourth in that category at 44.0.

Only 4 Titans have played in every game since 2021

The Titans have been absolutely cursed when it comes to injuries since 2021, but four players have been spared… for now.

The Tennessee Titans have been snake-bitten by injuries in a big way the last few years, leaving just a handful of players to have played in every game since 2021.

Last season, the Titans fielded an NFL record 91 players due to injuries, and they are likely to approach that number once again in 2022 after another injury-plagued campaign.

Tennessee currently ranks fourth in the NFL this season in most games missed by players because of injury with 125, per Man Games Lost.

With all the players the Titans have rostered since 2021, only four of them have played in every single game going into Week 10 of the 2022 season, according to Titan Sized’s Will Lomas.

Those four players are defensive lineman Denico Autry, center Ben Jones, long snapper Morgan Cox and safety Kevin Byard.

Jones and Byard have been true iron men during their days with the Titans, as Byard has never missed a single game over six-plus years, while Jones has missed just one, which came in 2019 due to a concussion.

Cox and Autry were both free-agent additions during the 2021 offseason, but Autry in particular has been arguably the best one in the Jon Robinson era.

The veteran tied his career-high with nine sacks last season, ranking second on the team, and he has followed that up with seven sacks through eight games this year, the most on the team.

This injury statistic makes us appreciate guys like Autry, Byard, Jones and Cox even more, but it also reminds us that the Titans are absolutely cursed with injuries.

Titans training camp preview: Can starting specialists be unseated?

A closer look at the Titans’ specialists ahead of training camp.

In our final installment of Tennessee training camp previews, we take a look at the specialists: kicker, punter and long snapper.

The Titans entered the 2021 campaign with a problem that has become all-too-familiar for the team in recent years: they had an issue at kicker.

After Sam Ficken went down with an injury before the start of the season, the Titans were forced to scramble and ended up signing Michael Badgley, who lasted only one game.

After the Badgley experiment failed, Tennessee handed the reins to Randy Bullock, which proved to be a good move. Bullock went on to stabilize the position, making 83.9 percent of his field goal attempts.

At punter, Brett Kern missed three games due to injury, but when he was on the field he continued his downward trend, as he saw his yards per punt decrease for the second straight year.

Looking ahead to training camp, is there anyone who can unseat Bullock or Kern? Let’s find out.

Legendary P Pat McAfee congratulates former Ravens P Sam Koch on retirement

Pat McAfee congratulates Sam Koch on a great career during his show on Youtube.

Late last week, former Baltimore Ravens punter Sam Koch decided to call it a career after 16 amazing seasons in the NFL. He impacted so many people both on and off of the field, and has been getting congratulatory messages for days about his retirement.

One of the messages he received was from legendary punter Pat McAfee, who mentioned that Koch re-invented the game with different punts and different kicks. McAfee showered praise on Koch for what he brought to the position, and clearly wanted to show his appreciation for one of the best punters in the business.

Warning: NSFW

Koch was a member of “the wolf pack” that also included included Justin Tucker and Morgan Cox. McAfee went on to say that a lot of fellow punters watched his film and learned from him. It marks just a bit of the massive amounts of praise for Koch, who was successful at his job for 16 seasons in the National Football League.

Titans agree to terms on one-year deal with Morgan Cox

The Titans are bringing their long snapper back.

The Tennessee Titans announced they are bringing back long snapper Morgan Cox on a one-year deal. The value has yet to be revealed.

Cox signed with the Titans in free agency last offseason after spending his first 11 seasons in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens, a stint that saw him make four Pro Bowls and one First-Team All-Pro.

We expect his new one-year pact to be close to the $1.21 million he made with the Titans in 2021.

Tennessee brought the veteran in hoping he could stabilize the position after Beau Brinkley flamed out in 2020. Cox did just that, and even garnered Pro Bowl consideration before ultimately not getting enough votes.

While Cox’s spot on the 2022 Titans is now set, the status of fellow special teamers like kicker Randy Bullock and punter Brett Kern are up in the air. Kern is a cut candidate, while Bullock is set to hit the open market.

Grades for Titans signing Janoris Jenkins, Morgan Cox, Kevin Johnson

More grades for some of the Tennessee Titans’ most recent moves.

Three moves the Tennessee Titans have made in free agency were the signings of cornerback Janoris Jenkins, long snapper Morgan Cox and cornerback Kevin Johnson.

Johnson is the most recent of the three, as he agreed to terms with Tennessee on Thursday night just minutes after it was announced that defensive back Desmond King will go to the Houston Texans.

After purging their secondary, the Titans signed Jenkins to help fill the void, while Cox is slated to assume the starting long snapper duties, replacing Matt Overton.

Here’s a look at how we graded each move after they were made.

What Denico Autry, Kendall Lamm, Morgan Cox said in first Titans presser

Three of the newest Titans spoke to the media for the first time on Thursday since joining the team.

The Tennessee Titans have made three of their reported free-agent moves official, with the team announcing the signings of defensive lineman Denico Autry, long snapper Morgan Cox and offensive tackle Kendall Lamm.

In case you missed it, Autry is getting a three-year deal worth $21.5 million, Lamm is getting a two-year pact worth $6.8 million, and Cox is signed to a one-year deal worth $1.2 million.

Shortly after the Titans made this trio of signings official, Lamm, Autry and Cox all had their first Zoom press conferences since joining the team.

Here’s a look at what each had to say:

Contract details for Tennessee Titans new LS Morgan Cox

The Titans have upgraded their long snapper position with the addition of Morgan Cox.

The Tennessee Titans added a new long snapper on Wednesday with the signing of longtime Baltimore Raven, Morgan Cox.

Cox, who is native of the state and attended the University of Tennessee, spent 11 seasons with the Ravens, where he went to four Pro Bowls and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 2020.

According to Spotrac, Cox’s deal is a one-year pact worth $1.21 million, with a signing bonus of $137,000 and a 2021 cap hit of $987,000.

The Titans faced issues at the position in 2020, as former long snapper Beau Brinkley struggled after returning from the COVID-19 list, leading to the team parting ways with him.

Tennessee then made a pair of signings to fill the void, bringing in Matt Orzech and Matt Overton, with the latter ultimately taking over the job.

However, clearly Tennessee was looking to go in a different direction, and based on his career accolades, Cox is about as good as Tennessee could have done at the position in free agency.
