Montreal Canadiens at Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Montreal Canadiens at Winnipeg Jets NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Montreal Canadiens (13-8-7) and Winnipeg Jets (17-9-2) complete a two-game set at Bell MTS Place Wednesday. Puck drop will be at 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Canadiens-Jets odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Canadiens, fourth in the all-Canadian North Division, bested the Jets 4-2 Monday in the first game of this head-to-head set. The Jets remain in second place in the division behind the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both teams are 4-4 in March.

Winnipeg still leads the season series 3-2, but two of those victories were in overtime. Montreal’s 7-1 win over the Jets March 6 was easily its most convincing victory of the season.

Canadiens at Jets: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:37 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canadiens -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Jets +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canadiens -1.5 (+220) | Jets +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Canadiens at Jets: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (9-5-4, .909 SV%, 2.59 GAA) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (12-8-2, .910 SV%, 2.82 GAA)

Price stopped 34 of 36 shots in Monday’s victory. He improved to 2-1-0 with a total of 8 goals allowed on 94 shots in three games against Winnipeg for the season. March has been his best month of 2021 with a 4-1-1 record, .950 SV% and 1.50 GAA through six outings.

Hellebuyck, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, has regressed slightly from last season but still gives the Jets a chance to win most nights. He has struggled through the first half of this month, however, with a 2-3-1 record, .889 SV% and 3.56 GAA through six games.

Canadiens at Jets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jets 3, Canadiens 2

Money line (ML)

Take the value of the JETS (+100) as home underdogs in the second half of this two-game set. They still have the edge in the season series and it took an empty-netter for the Canadiens to secure a two-goal win Monday.

The Jets recorded 53.4% of the total shot attempts and 53.19% of the scoring chances at 5-on-5 Monday, winning both the first and third periods.

The Canadiens haven’t won back-to-back games since Feb. 1 and 2.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the puck line while liking the Jets to win outright. There’s no value on either side for just a 1-goal cushion.

The alternate line of Canadiens +1.5 (-350) would require a $350 bet for a profit of $100.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the UNDER 5.5 (+100) in the rematch of former Vezina winners. Monday’s game snuck Over the projected line with the late ENG for Montreal, but the Canadiens entered the set with an 0-3-1 O/U record over their previous four games.

Winnipeg has been playing in significantly higher-scoring games this month and the season series is 4-1 in favor of the Over, but Hellebuyck needs to get back on track.

Montreal Canadiens at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Montreal Canadiens at Vancouver Canucks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Montreal Canadiens (11-6-6) play the first of a two-game set on the road against the Vancouver Canucks (11-15-2) Monday with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at Rogers Arena. Below, we analyze the Canadiens-Canucks odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Canadiens at Canucks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canadiens -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Canucks +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canadiens -1.5 (+165) | Canucks +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Canadiens at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (7-4-3, 2.83 GAA, .898 SV%) vs. Thatcher Demko (7-9-1, 2.87 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO)

Price has won each of his two starts in the month of March as the coaching regime change to Joey Daccord appears to have lit a fire under them. Price had won just two of seven February starts, but he has already equaled that number this month. He heads into this one 2-0-1 with a 2.92 GAA and .890 SV% in three starts against the Canucks this season.

Demko won three of six January starts but just one of eight February outings. He is a perfect 3-0-0 with a 1.01 GAA and .969 SV% across three outings in March. Demko has had issues against the Habs so far this season, coughing up 11 total goals in two starts, both losses. In his only appearance against the Canadiens at home, he allowed seven goals on 42 shots Jan. 21.

Canadiens at Canucks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Canucks 3, Canadiens 2

Money line (ML)

The CANUCKS (+135) are playing good hockey lately, including a two-game series sweep of the Maple Leafs over the weekend. They’re a great value as short ‘dogs on home ice, and the power play has really been clicking lately, too.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CANUCKS +1.5 (-200) have struggled against the Canadiens this season, so if you want a little insurance, it’s perfectly understandable. Vancouver has won just once, a 6-5 shootout Jan. 20, in five meetings with Montreal this season. The Canucks have won three of the past four overall, however, outscoring the opposition 13-8.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6 (+100) has hit in four of the past five for the Canucks, as Demko has really buckled down lately. He looks like the guy the organization thought he could be when they let Jacob Markstrom walk during free agency this past offseason. While the Over is 4-1 in the five meetings between these sides this season, the Under is the play with Price playing well lately and Demko standing on his head lately.

Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Montreal Canadiens (9-5-3) play the back end of a two-game set on the road against the Ottawa Senators (5-14-1) Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Canadian Tire Centre. Below we analyze the Canadiens-Senators NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Canadiens at Senators: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:12 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canadiens -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Senators +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canadiens -1.5 (+115) | Senators +1.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Canadiens at Senators: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (5-3-2, 2.87 GAA, .893 SV%) at Matt Murray (3-9-1, 3.66 GAA, .883 SV%)

Price is projected to be back in the crease after G Jake Allen suffered a 3-2 overtime loss in Ottawa Sunday despite 36 saves. Price needed a breather after coughing up five goals on 27 shots in a 5-3 loss at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday. Price has lost three of the past four starts, allowing three or more goals in three of those games.

Murray won Sunday’s game in OT against the Canadiens. It was his first win in six appearances since Feb. 4 when he topped the Habs in Montreal. There’s just something about facing the Canadiens that Murray rather enjoys. He is 2-1-0 with a 1.97 GAA and .941 SV% in three starts against Montreal this season.

Canadiens at Senators: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 3, Canadiens 2

Money line (ML)

Sometimes a team, or a goaltender, just has something on another team. The SENATORS (+200) are a good play based upon Murray’s solid showings against the Canadiens this season. The public is loading up on the Habs, not trusting that the Sens can sweep a two-game set on home ice. But Murray has a lot of confidence against Montreal, and it’s a good chance to double up your investment.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SENATORS +1.5 (-140) are actually worth a small-unit play if you don’t trust them to pull the moderate upset at home. Normally, I am not a big fan of playing the underdog on the puck line, but they’re worth a look based on their previous results against the Canadiens.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6 (+100) is the best play based upon trends and the fact this bet is on even money. The Under has hit in five straight at home for the Sens, while going 8-2-1 in the past 11 games overall. The Under is also 6-1 in the past seven overall for the Habs, while going 5-0 in their past five as favorites. In this series, the Under has cashed in seven straight meetings, including the past four at Canadian Tire Centre.

Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (11-2-1) host the Montreal Canadiens (8-4-2) at Scotiabank Arena Saturday for the third installment of 2021 for this rivalry series. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Canadiens-Maple Leafs NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Maple Leafs topped the Canadiens 5-4 in overtime in the season opener for both teams and proved it was no fluke with a 4-2 win in Montreal Wednesday.

Toronto has won four straight games in regulation to remain atop the all-Canadian North Division. Montreal took a 3-0 loss against the Edmonton Oilers Thursday for its third loss in its last four games.

Canadiens at Maple Leafs: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canadiens +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Maple Leafs -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canadiens +1.5 (-225) | Maple Leafs -1.5 (+180)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Canadiens at Maple Leafs: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (4-2-2, .896 SV%, 2.84 GAA) vs. Frederik Andersen (9-2-1, .908 SV%, 2.59 GAA)

Price has suffered back-to-back losses to the Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. He allowed 3 goals in each of those games on a total of just 45 shots on goal. He had previously won three straight games, but he gave up 5 goals on 34 shots in the season opener against the Leafs.

Andersen has been in net for four straight wins by the Leafs, and he has backstopped them to at least one point in eight consecutive games. He stopped 28 of 32 shots in the season-opening overtime win, and he stopped 33 of 35 shots against Montreal Wednesday.

Canadiens at Maple Leafs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Canadiens 4, Maple Leafs 2

Money line (ML)

Back the CANADIENS (+120) as they attempt to flip the script from Wednesday’s head-to-head clash. They were slight favorites at home for that contest, but the odds flipped for the second meeting of the week.

Montreal registered 62.2% of the total 5-on-5 shot attempts (including blocked and missed shots) and 57.89% of the scoring chances at full strength Wednesday. Toronto won both of those battles in the first meeting this season but by much narrower margins.

Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play Wednesday, but the Leafs have a significant edge with the man advantage for the season scoring at a fourth-ranked 34.88% clip. The Canadiens’ key to victory will be avoiding penalty trouble.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

There’s too much risk to take the Canadiens +1.5 (-225) for the goal of insurance on the puck line and the alternate line of Canadiens -1.5 (+290) is a little too bold.

The Leafs lead the season series 2-0 and have outscored the Canadiens 9-6. The Habs won each of the previous four meetings, but three of those were decided by single-goal margins.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 6.5 (-110) with both No. 1 starters rested coming into Saturday. Defensive play improved considerably from the season opener to Wednesday’s meeting, and play should continue to tighten up atop the North Division.

Montreal Canadiens at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Montreal Canadiens at Edmonton Oilers NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Montreal Canadiens (1-0-1) and Edmonton Oilers (1-2-0) close out a two-game series with a 9 p.m. ET Monday game at Rogers Place. Below, we analyze the Canadiens-Oilers NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Canadiens at Oilers: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Montreal -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Edmonton -105 (bet $105 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Montreal -1.5 (+225) | Edmonton +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Canadiens at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (1-0-1, .913 SV%, 2.92 GAA) vs. Mikko Koskinen (1-2-0, .892 SV, 4.04 GAA)

Price logged a clunker in his 2021 debut Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs but was tremendous in stopping 34 of 35 shots in a bounce-back effort Saturday against these Oilers. The 33-year-old has been marvelous on the road the last couple of years. Price was iffy late in the regular season last year but rebounded nicely to log a .936 save percentage in 10 playoff games.

Koskinen registered a solid .917 SV% last season but then struggled in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with an .889 SV% in four games. He doesn’t have a good career line at home, and he has struggled in 5-on-5 play through the early going of 2021.

Canadiens at Oilers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Edmonton 4, Montreal 3

Money line (ML)

The Oilers look to be undervalued after dropping the opener in this series 5-1. Look for the home side to be in better form before heading on the road after this one.

BACK EDMONTON -105 on a slight-to-moderate lean.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. A heavily juiced line often brackets the true odds in games that are a near pick ’em on the ML.

Over/Under (O/U)

Edmonton has a lot of firepower on offense. C Connor McDavid and C Leon Draisaitl are off to good starts with 10 combined points through three games.

Tage the OVER 6.5 (-115) as the best play in this matchup.

Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs open the 2020-21 NHL regular season against each other Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Below, we analyze the Canadiens-Maple Leafs NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Canadiens at Maple Leafs: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:52 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canadiens +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Maple Leafs -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canadiens +1.5 (-225) | Maple Leafs -1.5 (+180)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Canadiens at Maple Leafs: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (27-25-6, .909 SV%, 2.79 GAA) at Frederik Andersen (29-13-7, .909 SV%, 2.85 GAA)

Price is expected to be the starting backstop for the opener, and that’s bad news for the Leafs. Last season he posted a 3-0-0 record with a 2.58 GAA and .912 SV% in three starts against Toronto. Price is expected to see more rest this season after the team inked veteran G Jake Allen to serve as his understudy this season.

Andersen, who is entering the final year of his contract with the Maple Leafs, is hopeful of getting off to a good start. The 31-year Danish backstop was actually better on the road last season than at home, going 13-7-6 with a 3.03 GAA and .904 SV% in 28 starts at Scotiabank Arena. He actually didn’t face the Habs last season after going 3-0-1 with a 3.14 GAA and .918 SV% against them in 2018-19, and 3-0-0 with a 1.66 GAA and .950 SV% in 2017-18. He hasn’t lost to the Habs over his past seven starts since an overtime loss at home on Feb. 25, 2017.

Canadiens at Maple Leafs: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Maple Leafs 4, Canadiens 3

Money line (ML)

Despite Price’s recent success against the them in 2019-20, the MAPLE LEAFS (-145) are still the play at home, and you won’t have to munch a lot of chalk. Yes, Montreal has won four in a row in this series, but it has won just once in the past five trips to Toronto, and the favorite is 19-7 across the past 26 meetings with the home side coming out ahead in four of the previous five battles.

Against the spread (ATS)

I am not confident enough to bet puck lines right off the bat to begin a new season. Given Montreal’s success against Toronto last season, you shouldn’t be, either. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6.5 (+100) is rather pricey. It will be interesting to see how both of the teams respond playing inside a barren 19,800-seat arena which is usually packed to the gills for this heated Canadian rival game. These teams got a taste of playing meaningful games with no fans in the bubble last summer, but it’s still something that is hard to get used to without that energy to feed off. Even so, we should see plenty of fireworks on the ice as the Over has cashed in five of the previous six meetings.
