Is Riley Moss playing today? Injury updates for Broncos CB

Broncos cornerback Riley Moss (knee) won’t play against the Browns tonight.

Denver Broncos second-year cornerback Riley Moss went down with a knee injury against the Las Vegas Raiders last week and he missed all three days of practice leading up to Monday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns in Week 13. Here’s the latest on his MCL status.

Riley Moss injury update

Moss was ruled out on Saturday afternoon and he won’t suit up against the Browns on Monday. He is the only player on Denver’s injury report who did not practice in any capacity last week.

How long will Riley Moss be out?

After the Raiders game last week, Broncos coach Sean Payton said “there was some thought” that Moss could have returned to the game. Payton also said the injury “wasn’t really serious.” After hosting the Browns on Monday, Denver will have a bye in Week 14 before hosting the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15. That will give Moss an extra week to recover, so it seems possible that the cornerback could return in time to play against the Colts on Dec. 15.

Broncos cornerback depth chart

With Moss ruled out this week, Levi Wallace is expected to play as the team’s No. 2 cornerback across from Pat Surtain while Ja’Quan McMillian continues to play in the slot. The Broncos also have Damarri Mathis, Tremon Smith and Kris Abrams-Draine providing additional depth at cornerback.

Denver Broncos 2024 Schedule

The Broncos are set to host the Browns on ‘Monday Night Football’ in Week 13.

The Denver Broncos’ schedule continues today with a Monday Night Football home game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season.

Denver will play eight home games at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium this year and nine games on the road. Because the league has an unbalanced 17-game schedule, the NFC and AFC rotate between having an extra home game. This year, the NFC gets a ninth home game.

The Broncos are led by head coach Sean Payton with rookie Bo Nix serving as their starting quarterback this fall.

Pat Surtain responds to Jerry Jeudy’s comments about the Broncos

Jerry Jeudy said he wants to whip the Broncos in the buttock on Monday. This is how Pat Surtain responded to those comments.

Jerry Jeudy wants to prove a point when he returns to Empower Field at Mile High on Monday.

After being traded from the Denver Broncos to the Cleveland Browns this spring, Jeudy is now set to face his old team on Monday Night Football on Dec. 2. Ahead of the Week 13 showdown, Jeudy said in an interview, “I just want to go back up there and whip their ass.”

“That sounds like my dawg,” Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton said with a smile when told about Jeudy’s comment. “He’s a competitor, man.”

It remains to be seen if Denver will have star cornerback Pat Surtain follow Jeudy on Monday, but the two should face off for at least some of the game. Surtain was asked about Jeudy’s comments ahead of the showdown.

“I think he’s going to be fired up, obviously this was his past team,” Surtain said. “I think he’s going to have a lot of juice going, a lot of juice flowing. That’s just the type of player he is. He’s very competitive and he’s going to be looking to get after it. I’m looking forward to the matchup. It’s going to be a great matchup.”

Jeudy clearly has beef with the organization, but not necessarily his former teammates. He spoke glowingly about Surtain during his media availability in Cleveland last week. Jeudy praised Surtain for his smarts, length and speed, and he said Monday will be a fun matchup.

“I know Pat since [inaudible], been competing against him my whole life,” Jeudy said. “So if I’m going to get the opportunity to go against him on this big stage, it’s going to be fun.”

Monday’s game will be nationally televised on ESPN. Playing at home, the Broncos are considered favorites in Week 13.

Broncos worked out one player on Saturday

The Broncos worked out left-footed punter Colton Spangler on Saturday.

The Denver Broncos brought in one player for a workout on Saturday.

Because they are facing left-footed Cleveland Browns punter Corey Bojorquez on Monday Night Football in Week 13, the Broncos worked out left-footed free agent Colton Spangler, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Spangler (6-0, 192 pounds) spent five years punting at Maryland, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition in 2022. His career punting average of 42.8 ranks third all-time in Terrapins school history. Spangler punted 80 times for 7,695 yards in college.

Denver presumably wanted to give returners Marvin Mims and Tremon Smith practice fielding left-footed punts this week ahead of the Browns game. The Broncos’ own punter, Riley Dixon, is right-footed, and Mims and Smith usually face right-footed punters on game days as well.

In addition to giving Denver’s returners good reps at practice this week, Spangler could also be a fallback option for the Broncos down the road if the team ever has a punter emergency.

Browns announce uniform combination for their Monday Night Football matchup

The Browns will wear the orange pants in primetime once again

The Cleveland Browns are back in the prime time slot and are set to face the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.

Cleveland has succeeded against Denver, holding a 22-7 record. They are recently coming off of a long week of rest after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football in Week 12. Now, they’re set to face a very talented team with an NFL Rookie of the Year caliber quarterback.

It was announced earlier today that the team will wear their traditional white uniforms along with their fan-favorite orange pants. This is the first time this season the Browns have worn their orange pants along with their white jerseys.

This uniform matchup will go against the recently unveiled Broncos’ new uniforms, which will show their Midnight Navy jerseys with their all-white helmets. It will be an interesting prime-time matchup with both of these teams coming off of confident victories.

We’ll see this beautiful uniform matchup on Monday Night Football when the Cleveland Browns visit the Broncos in Denver.

Broncos vs. Browns: 5 things to watch for in Week 13

Here are five storylines to watch for when the Broncos host the Browns on ‘Monday Night Football’ in Week 13.

The Denver Broncos are set to host the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football on Dec. 2. Here are five quick storylines to watch for going into the game.

1. Drew Sanders status and role: Sanders was activated from the PUP list earlier this week. Now there are two questions: 1) will he play on Monday and 2) what position will he play? Sanders began last season as an inside linebacker out of necessity but later moved to outside linebacker and the Broncos hinted this spring that he would play as an OLB in 2024. Denver has plenty of depth on the edge, though, and they could use help at ILB. We’ll see what kind of role Sanders has on Monday (assuming he plays).

2. Jerry Jeudy’s return to Denver: Jameis Winston taking over as Cleveland’s starting QB was good news for Jeudy, who has totaled 24 receptions for 379 yards and one touchdown over the last four games. The receiver will undoubtedly have something to prove against his former team on Monday.

3. Broncos running back rotation: Over the last three weeks, Audric Estime, Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin have led the team’s backfield in rushing yards once each. It’s nearly impossible to predict how the RB rotation will shake out, but it looks like a good matchup for Denver on paper. The Browns are allowing 130.6 rushing yards per game, ninth-most in the NFL.

4. Denver’s offensive line vs. Myles Garrett: The Broncos held up well against Garrett last year, limiting him to just two tackles and no sacks. Garrett has just 1.5 sacks in four career games against Denver, a number he’d like to improve in Week 13. The Broncos’ offensive line ranks No. 1 in pass protection this fall, but Garrett will be a big test.

5. Broncos’ defense vs. Jameis Winston: Denver ranks 11th with nine interceptions this season and the unit’s 44 sacks rank No. 1 in the NFL. Winston has thrown four interceptions through four starts with the Browns and he’s been sacked 12 times. Monday could be a big day for the Broncos’ defense.

Monday’s game will be nationally televised on ESPN. Playing at home, the Broncos are considered favorites in Week 13.

Broncos fans loved the way Peyton Manning signed off on the ‘ManningCast’

“Watch out for my Broncos,” Peyton Manning said at the end of the ManningCast. “The Broncos are coming.”

Following the Houston Texans’ 34-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week, Peyton Manning signed off on the ManningCast with a message loved by Denver Broncos fans.

“Watch out for my Broncos,” Manning said. “The Broncos are coming.”

Manning, of course, played the final four years of his career in Denver from 2012-2015. Manning helped the Broncos win the AFC West in all four of those seasons and they reached a pair of Super Bowls. Manning retired from the NFL after winning Super Bowl 50 following the 2015 season.

Manning, 48, still lives in the Denver area and he has tickets to attend the team’s home games. Even though he does not hold an official position with the Broncos, Manning has remained closely connected to the team.

Denver is scheduled to host the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football in Week 13. Unfortunately, there’s no ManningCast scheduled for that game, so Broncos fans won’t get to hear Manning call one of their games this year, at least not during the regular season.

NFL makes ‘Monday Night Football’ flex decision for Week 13

The NFL has opted to keep the Broncos-Browns game as the ‘Monday Night Football’ matchup in Week 13. No flex.

The NFL has made a decision on the Monday Night Football matchup for Week 13.

The Denver Broncos (6-5) hosting the Cleveland Browns (2-8) will remain the MNF game after the league opted not to flex it out of the prime-time window. Denver will host Cleveland on Monday, Dec. 2.

The game will be nationally televised on ESPN beginning at 6:15 p.m. MT and available to stream on fuboTV (try it free). Unfortunately, there’s no ManningCast scheduled for the Broncos-Browns game.

First things first, Denver will go on the road to face the Las Vegas Raiders (2-8) in a Sunday afternoon game on Nov. 24. After that, the Broncos will play on MNF before a bye in Week 14.

If Denver is going to make the NFL playoffs this season, beating the next two winnable games on the schedule will be key. The Broncos will have four games remaining after the bye, including a big road game against the Cincinnati Bengals (4-7) in Week 17. If both teams are still in the playoff hunt, the Broncos-Bengals game will be a candidate to get flexed into a nationally-televised window.
