Shohei Ohtani gave a perfect 1-word answer about if he’s nervous for his first MLB postseason

Shohei Ohtani is ready to go for his first MLB postseason game.

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani will play in his first MLB playoff game on Saturday against the San Diego Padres.

When asked by a reporter if he’s nervous about this historic moment in his career, Ohtani gave a perfect answer that should have L.A. fans excited.

“Nope,” he responded.

Hey, that’s pretty awesome if you ask us.

The best player in baseball finally getting his chance to contend for a World Series is cool enough, but the way Ohtani just brushed off any nerves before his first MLB playoff game is almost as impressive.

We’ll see how the Dodgers fare this October, but they can count on their best player being ready for the experience.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sends message to Derek Jeter ahead of Royals vs. Yankees ALDS

Kansas City #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sends message to Derek Jeter ahead of #Royals vs. #Yankees ALDS | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is focused on his next opponent this Monday night against the New Orleans Saints. He closely monitors his other team, the Kansas City Royals, as they clinched a spot in the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees.

Mahomes spoke to reporters on Thursday, sharing his excitement for the team he serves as an owner for as they progress in this year’s MLB postseason.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s awesome. I mean, it’s great for the city. I’ve heard all the stories about how awesome the environment was the last time they were in the playoffs, and they’re getting to go up against a great, great baseball team in the Yankees, a historic baseball team.” said Mahomes. “So I’m just excited for these guys when they’re hungry. They’re playing great baseball right now, and to be at the K sold out crowd, hopefully, and get to see that October baseball there is going to be special.”

A reporter at the press conference mentioned Yankees great and baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, who knows Mahomes well, is rumored to be looking for tickets to watch games at Kauffman Stadium.

“Yeah, man, I’ll let him be there because when we hopefully win, I’ll get to talk trash.” Said Mahomes. “I know he’s a big Yankees fan. I think if the Yankees lost this series, he might have to move cities. So let’s see if we can do that for him.”

Chiefs Wire Senior Writer Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Jeter recently about Mahomes’ leadership from one captain to another. The series kicks off this Saturday at Yankee Stadium and will move to Kansas City next Wednesday.

Jesse Winker slammed his batting helmet in celebration after scoring during the Mets’ big ninth inning

Jesse Winker was pretty darn excited.

The New York Mets saved their season on Thursday night in Milwaukee to advance to the next round of the 2024 MLB playoffs.

A Pete Alonso three-run homer got New York on the board at the top of the ninth inning, then Mets outfielder Starling Marte drove fellow Mets outfielder Jesse Winker home to give the team an extra run down the stretch.

As Winker made it to home plate, he slammed his batting helmet to the ground in celebration as his team was about to complete a stunning come-from-behind playoff victory on the road.

What a moment for Winker and the Mets during such a memorable win for the franchise.

The Mets’ radio call of Pete Alonso’s go-ahead ninth inning HR is so awesome

OMG!

OMG Pete Alonso!

On Thursday, the New York Mets stunned the Milwaukee Brewers in their winner-take-all Game 3 of the NL Wild Card. With the Mets down 2-0, Alonso smashed a go-ahead ninth inning home run to completely flip the script on the Brewers with their backs against the wall.

Alonso’s home run now means the Mets are headed to the NLDS to face the Philadelphia Phillies in a best-of-five series starting Saturday. The moment was already incredible if you were a Mets fan, but the voice of Howie Rose on New York’s own radio station captured the pure excitement of Alonso’s stunning blast.

Pete Alonso knew instantly that he hit the series-winning ninth inning home run for the Mets

ALONSO!!!

The New York Mets faced down elimination in Milwaukee on Thursday night, and first baseman Pete Alonso knew what his team needed at the top of the ninth inning.

Scoreless and down two runs to the Brewers, Alonso blasted a home run out of American Family Field with two runners on base to give the Mets a 3-2 lead late in the playoff contest. He knew it immediately after the hit.

As far as 2024 MLB playoff dramatics go, Alonso’s late-game heroics will go down in Mets legend. If you’re a Brewers fan, you might not want to watch this clip again after dropping the game, 4-2, right at the end.

Alonso’s three-run homer was a brutal swing for Milwaukee and a saving grace for New York.

Fernando Tatis Jr. blasted Max Fried in the butt with a line drive

Ouch! That’s got to hurt.

The Atlanta Braves were fighting for their 2024 season on Wednesday night in San Diego against the Padres.

Pitcher Max Fried quite literally took one for the team during the MLB playoff elimination game, as Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. accidentally hit a line drive right into Fried’s backside.

It’s hard to tell exactly where Tatis accidentally hit Fried’s posterior region, whether it was right on the butt or on his hip. However, it sure didn’t look pleasant.

It was a solid hit by Tatis, but equal kudos to Fried for hanging in there after getting accidentally blasted in the buttocks region.

That’s playoff baseball for you!

Orioles owner David Rubenstein delivered a blunt, 2-word message to fans

Welp!

The Baltimore Orioles have already been eliminated from the 2024 MLB playoffs after losing the Wild Card series to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.

Team owner David Rubenstein didn’t seem all that upset about it, at least not as he addressed fans while leaving Camden Yards after the game.

Baltimore Banner investigative reporter Justin Fenton reported on Rubenstein’s quick message to fans: “Next year.”

The franchise hasn’t won a World Series since 1983, which makes Rubenstein’s message sting all the more for Orioles fans.

After you come up short once again when expectations were high for success, fans do not want to hear “next year” from the person who owns the team.

Maybe Rubenstein meant this in a supportive way, as to signify that the team will be back and ready next year. However, you can’t blame Orioles fans if they don’t exactly take this well after yet another postseason exit.

At least Rubenstein’s message on Twitter (X) was more thorough and considerate?

Lip-reading video shows Willy Adames and Jesse Winker screaming NSFW stuff at each other

A lot is happening here!

The New York Mets earned a huge road win in the first round of the 2024 MLB Playoffs against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night with plenty of fireworks.

Some of those fireworks came in the form of F-bombs from Mets outfielder Jesse Winker.

The Mets slugger unleashed a very funny, profanity-laced tirade as he rounded the bases after a good hit in the game’s second inning and sent two New York players on base home to tie the ballgame.

The swear words sparked Brewers shortstop Willy Adames to tell Winker that he’d meet him in the parking lot, presumably for more than an exchange of words.

Jomboy tried to break down this moment between Winker and Adames and what led to it in a lip-readers breakdown that is worth your time.

Pete Rose dies: Baseball world reacts to the death of Cincinnati Reds legend

Pete Rose has died at the age of 83.

Pete Rose, one of the most recognizable figures in professional baseball during the 20th century, has died at the age of 83.

TMZ shared a confirmation from Rose’s agent, Ryan Fiterman, late Monday afternoon that the 17-time MLB All-Star and iconic Cincinnati Reds player and manager had died at his home in Las Vegas.

The franchise later confirmed Rose’s death to USA TODAY.

With 4,256 hits to his name, Rose still leads the MLB in all-time hits for a player. He won two World Series titles with the Reds in 1975 and 1976 before winning another with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980.

Rose returned to Cincinnati to manage the franchise as a player from 1984 to 1986 before retiring from baseball and working solely as the Reds manager through 1989.

Of course, Rose’s baseball career will forever be marked by a historic gambling scandal that ended his managing career in 1989 and followed his reputation within the baseball community.

Rose confessed in 2004 after years of denial to betting on baseball and the Reds in particular while he was part of the franchise. He has not been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame because of these infractions.

Rose also was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor during the 1970s. In 2017, an unidentified woman accused Rose of statutory rape as the two allegedly had a sexual relationship before she turned 16, which was the age of consent in Ohio.

With news of Rose’s death, here’s how the sports world reacted to the passing of a towering figure in baseball history.
