Former Georgia Bulldogs assistant coach D.J. Looney passed away tragically on the first day of August. Looney suffered a heart attack at a workout.  He was working as an assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette and passed too young at the age of 31.

Looney previously played for Mississippi State University from 2007 to 2010. Following his college football career, Looney immediately caught on as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State.

He was considered a rising star in coaching and helped Louisiana have the sixth best rushing offense in the country last season. Looney served as a graduate assistant at Georgia under Sam Pittman during the 2016 season.
