News broke about Witt’s new deal this afternoon, and fans in Kansas City were delighted to find out that the star shortstop will remain with the Royals for at least the better part of the next decade.

While the reigning MVP quarterback may not be bankrolling Witt’s deal, Mahomes’ massive 10-year, $450 million contract set the standard for big-spending back in 2020.
Mahomes and Witt are now cemented as the faces of Kansas City’s major sports franchises and may prove to be among the best duos of stars in a single market.
