The Milwaukee Brewers (15-8) and Pittsburgh Pirates (13-12) meet for the finale of a 4-game series on Thursday. First pitch from PNC Park is slated for 12:35 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Pirates lead 2-1

Milwaukee lost the 1st two games of this series (4-2 and 2-1) and then rebounded with a 3-2 triumph Wednesday. The Brewers are 5-2 across their last 7 games despite scoring 3 runs or less 6 times.

The Pirate offense has a similar stretch going: Pittsburgh has scored 2 runs or less in 7 of its last 8 games.

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

RHP Freddy Peralta vs. RHP Mitch Keller

Peralta (2-0, 1.90 ERA) is lined up for his 5th start. He has registered a 0.76 WHIP, 1.5 BB/9 and 12.6 K/9 in 23 2/3 IP.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 2-1 win at St. Louis Cardinals Friday
  • Career vs. Pirates: 2-1, 3.18 ERA (73 2/3 IP, 26 ER), 52 H, 24 BB, 86 K

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Pirates 5, Brewers 4

Moneyline

PITTSBURGH (+102) is 5-2 across the last 7 series meetings.

Surface ERA numbers on both sides starters and bullpens diverge from expected figures in opposite ways, pointing to some value on the Pittsburgh side. And the career Peralta numbers against the Pirates are deceiving: per ESPN, current Pittsburgh bats own an aggregate .878 OPS against the veteran righty.

Keller owns a PNC ERA of 3.78 since 2022.

Peg the Pirates as a solid value in this matinee series finale. BACK THE PIRATES (+102).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS: Better value on the ML.

Over/Under

The Over has been a lean all week but has so far gone 0-3. The Over 7 (-112) is just a slight lean in this one: the strongest play is the Pittsburgh ML side.

Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (14-8) and Pittsburgh Pirates (13-11) meet Wednesday in the 3rd contest of a 4-game series. First pitch from PNC Park is slated for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Pirates lead 2-0

In Monday’s series opener, the Brewers put just 3 runners in scoring position in a 4-2 loss. On Tuesday, they managed just 3 hits. Milwaukee has filed 4 runs or fewer in 7 of its last 8 games.

Pittsburgh snapped a 6-game losing streak with Monday’s victory. Its offense has also been slowed of late: the Pirates have the same 7-of-8 stretch when it comes to plating 3 runs.

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

RHP Bryse Wilson vs. LHP Josh Fleming

Wilson (2-0, 3.29 ERA) makes his 2nd start of the season. He has registered a 0.88 WHIP, 1.3 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 in 13 2/3 innings.

  • Made his last appearance Saturday, going 1 1/3 innings in relief; made his lone start this season April 17
  • Career vs. Pirates: 2-0, 2.40 ERA (15 IP, 4 ER), 15 H, 5 BB, 13 K in 2 starts and 3 relief appearances

Fleming (1-0, 1.74) is a member of the Pittsburgh bullpen being called on as an opener. He has logged a 1.06 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 6.1 K/9 in 10 1/3 innings.

  • Making his 1st start of the 2024 season; owns a 6.10 ERA over 22 career starts (vs. a 3.57 ERA as a reliever)
  • Last pitched Sunday, going 1 inning in relief
  • Has never faced Brewers before

  • Over/Under (O/U): 9 (O: -102 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Pirates 6, Brewers 4

Moneyline

PITTSBURGH (-120) is 5-1 across the last 6 series meetings.

This one is in the hands of the bullpens. Milwaukee’s (+102) 3.00 surface ERA ranks 7th in MLB; the Pirates’ 4.37 ERA ranks 21st. But the expected-ERA numbers, accounting for quality of contact, are very similar.

Peg the Buccaneers as being undervalued.

BACK THE PIRATES (-120).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS: better value on the ML.

Over/Under

The Over has been a lean all week but has so far gone 0-2. There are some clutch failings of late which are tamping down the batting numbers on both sides. The Pirates are 5 for their last 44 (.114) with runners in scoring position; the Brewers are 0 for 7 in this series.

A pitcher’s breeze is in Wednesday’s forecast, but the OVER 9 (-110) is still a lean.

Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (14-7) and Pittsburgh Pirates (12-11) meet Tuesday for the 2nd game a 4-game series. First pitch from PNC Park is set for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Pirates lead 1-0

The Brewers put just 3 runners in scoring position in a 4-2 loss in Monday’s series lid-lifter. The loss snapped a 4-game winning streak.

Pittsburgh snapped a 6-game losing streak with Monday’s victory. The Bucs’ 4 runs Monday marked their most in a single game since April 14.

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

Undecided vs. LHP Bailey Falter

Today’s slot was ticketed for LHP Wade Miley, who recently went on the 15-day IL with an elbow issue. RHP Tobias Myers is a possibility for making this start. Myers is a 25-year-old who would be making his major-league debut.

Falter (1-1, 4.05 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has registered a 0.95 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 4.5 K/9 in 20 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 K in 9-1 loss at New York Mets Wednesday
  • Career vs. Brewers: 0-0, 1.17 ERA (7 2/3 IP, 1 ER), 7 H, 1 BB, 5 K in 1 start and 1 relief appearance
  • Owns a 4.70 ERA across 218 1/3 career innings

  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Brewers -1.5 (+155) | Pirates +1.5 (-188)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Pirates 5, Brewers 4

Moneyline

PITTSBURGH (-110) is 4-1 across the last 5 series meetings.

Milwaukee (-106) has scored 2 runs or fewer in 4 of its last 5 games. If Myers is tabbed for the start, that’s a hurler who owns a 5.63 ERA over his last 56 minor-league games.

Figure on the bullpens being much involved in this one and that the Pittsburgh side of that equation, while being the lesser unit, offers some hidden value.

BACK THE PIRATES (-110).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS: better value on the ML.

Over/Under

The total has gone Over in 10 of Milwaukee’s last 14 games. The total has gone Over in 8 of the Brewers’ last 10 games when playing on the road at Pittsburgh.

Strength-of-schedule wise, both clubs have faced tougher-than-average pitching. The Over is the likable side here. Consider a partial-unit play on the OVER 8.5 (-105) and a fully-vested play if the price gets to even money.

Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Milwaukee Brewers (14-6) and Pittsburgh Pirates (11-11) open a 4-game series in Western Pennsylvania with 1st pitch in Monday’s lid-lifter set for 6:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Milwaukee won last year’s series 8-5

The Brewers head to Pittsburgh fresh off a 3-game sweep at the St. Louis Cardinals. Despite ranking 2nd in the league in scoring (5.89 runs per game), Milwaukee has scored 2 runs or less in 3 of its last 4 games. The Brewers won all 3 of those low-output contests and tote a 4-game win streak into this series.

Pittsburgh has also filed some low-scoring games of late, but the Pirates have been losing them. The Pirates lost 3 in a row to the Boston Red Sox over the weekend, plating just 4 runs along the way. Pittsburgh has scored just 1.50 RPH in going 0-6 since April 15.

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

RHP Joe Ross vs. RHP Jared Jones

Ross (1-1, 4.91 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 1.64 WHIP, 4.9 BB/9 and 8.6 K/9 in 14 2/3 IP.

  • Last outing: Loss, 4 2/3 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 7-3 loss vs. San Diego Padres last Monday
  • Career vs. Pirates: 1-1, 2.33 ERA (19 1/3 IP, 5 ER), 19 H, 3 BB, 24 K in 4 starts

Jones (1-2, 3.13 ERA) is tabbed for his 4th start. He owns a 0.78 WHIP, 0.8 BB/9 and 12.5 K/9 in 23 IP.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 5 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 7 K in 3-1 loss at New York Mets Tuesday
  • The 22-year-old rookie is facing the Brewers for the 1st time
  • Has not filed a walk since his March 30 MLB debut and has posted 14-or-more swinging strikes in each start

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Pirates 5, Brewers 4

Moneyline

Pittsburgh is 3-1 across the last 4 series meetings.

Pitching is the great equalizer, but streaks losing streaks are often tough to get into going against the grain.

Figure the PIRATES -130 being a small-value play; consider a partial unit for this wager.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS: Better value on the ML.

Over/Under

The total has gone Over in 10 of Milwaukee’s last 13 games. The total has gone Over in 8 of the Brewers’ last 9 games when playing on the road at Pittsburgh.

Strength-of-schedule-wise, both clubs have faced tougher-than-average pitching.

Of late, the Pittsburgh offense has been hemmed in by poor clutch hitting performances. The Milwaukee bullpen has posted good early-season numbers but has been helped along by a .237 batting average on balls in play.

The weather forecast calls for an outward-blowing breeze, and there is moderate value on the OVER 7.5 (-118); that’s a price available on FanDuel Sportsbook.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 7, Pirates 4

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Brewers to win, but at (-185) the line is not worth the risk. Bet on the run line and/or total instead.

Run line/Against the spread

BET BREWERS -1.5 (-110).

The Brewers hold a 6-4 lead in the last 10 matchups and are better on the road than the Pirates are at home. The Brewers are also 5-0 in Peralta’s last 5 starts and 5 of their last 6 wins vs. Pittsburgh have come by 2 or more runs.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 8.5 (-115).

This is a very slight lean as both the Over and Under have been very even recently for both teams.

The Over is 6-3 in the last 9 meetings between the Brewers and Pirates and the Over is also 6-4 in the Pirates’ last 10 games overall. For Peralta the Over is 4-1 in his last 5 starts overall and hit in his last start vs. Pittsburgh.

The Milwaukee Brewers (44-39) close out a 3-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates (39-43) on Sunday at PNC Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET. Season series: Brewers lead 4-1

The Brewers defeated the Pirates 11-8 on Saturday with OF Christian Yelich, OF Jesse Winker, and 1B Rowdy Tellez all supplying multiple RBIs. Milwaukee is tied with the Cincinnati Reds atop the NL Central.

Pirates OF Jack Suwinski hit his 17th home run of the season and produced 4 RBIs in Saturday’s losing effort. Pittsburgh had its 4-game win streak snapped with the loss and is now 4 1/2 games back of 1st place in the division.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

RHP Colin Rea vs. LHP Rich Hill

Rea (4-4, 4.57 ERA) makes his 14th start and 15th appearance. He has a 1.22 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 69 IP.

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 6, Pirates 5

Moneyline

While both teams have average pitchers taking the mound, I’ll back the BREWERS (-110) on the road. The Brewers are 48-22 in the last 70 meetings overall.

Run line/Against the spread

The Pirates should keep this game within striking distance with Rea getting the nod for the Brewers. That being said, I’ll PASS on Pittsburgh’s run line in this NL Central bout at the current odds.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET OVER 9 (-115).

Rea and Hill have been giving up runs in bunches in recent starts, which could lead to quite a few in Sunday’s matchup. Even with the Brewers struggling against lefties this season, they were slightly better against southpaws in June, registering the 16th-best wOBA (.306) and wRC+ (90) against them.

The Pirates are 4-0-1 to the Over in their last 5 overall, and the Over is 26-9-4 in the last 39 meetings in Pittsburgh.

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 5, Pirates 4

Moneyline

Even with the Pirates winning 3 straight games, I’ll back the BREWERS (-145) on the road Friday. The Brewers have owned the Pirates in recent season, going 47-21 in the last 68 meetings. Also, the Pirates are 0-9 in their last 9 games against an NL Central foe.

Run line/Against the spread

PIRATES +1.5 (-140) is how I’d bet with how tough it is to trust Peralta on the mound. The Brewers also have the 2nd-worst strikeout rate (27.7%) against right-handed pitching in the month of June.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

OVER 8.5 (-115) is the lean with Peralta struggling in recent starts and Bido making just his 4th MLB start. The Over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 home games for the Pirates, and the Over is also 24-9-4 in the past 37 meetings in Pittsburgh.

The Milwaukee Brewers (44-34) take on the Pittsburgh Pirates (31-45) Friday at PNC Park in the 2nd game of a 5-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Brewers lead 6-1

The Pirates surprised the Brew Crew with an 8-7 victory Thursday. Pittsburgh has an infusion of young talent, led by 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes and 6-foot-7 SS Oneil Cruz. The Bucs have won 2 in a row and have their young horse RHP Roansy Contreras on the bump. The Pirates are scrappy, and they’re 12-9 in 1-run games this year.

Milwaukee has yet to hit its stride this season but is starting to get healthy. That equals danger for the rest of the division. The Brewers are 6-4 in the last 10 and 11-9 in the last 20 games. Offensively, it has been a struggle. The Brewers are 23rd in MLB with a .236 batting average, and they rely heavily on the long ball and dominant pitching, which we may see Friday.

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

RHP Corbin Burnes vs. RHP Roansy Contreras

Burnes (6-4, 2.41 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 0.92 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 11.5 K/9 in 93 1/3 IP.

  • Outside of the strikeouts, he really hasn’t been as dominant as his numbers indicate. He has a .254 BABIP, and his FIP is 3.12. That means he’s lucky when batters make contact and getting great fielding behind him.
  • He’s averaging 8.7 K’s per start the last 6 starts.
  • Allowed 2 ER on 4 H with 10 K in 7 IP vs. Pirates in April 19 start.

Contreras (2-1, 2.76 ERA) makes his 8th start and 11th appearance. He has a 1.35 WHIP, 4.0 BB/9 and 8.9 K/9 in 42 1/3 IP.

  • Has allowed 2 ER in 10 IP his last 2 starts.
  • He features a 96-mph fastball, which ranks in the 85th percentile in spin rate. He complements it with a slider, curveball and changeup.
  • He’s 5th-ranked prospect in the Pirates’ system.

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 4, Pirates 2

Money line

The Brewers are huge favorites on the road, and it’s for good reason. Burnes has been striking out everyone and their mother over the last month. We’re not throwing more than twice our return on the Brewers, though. LEAN BREWERS FIRST 5 INNINGS (-120). It’s only a lean because we’re depending on an unpredictable offense to come through early on.

Run line/Against the spread

Negative odds in both directions on the run line, and MIL is just 34-44 on the RL this season. PASS on those and consider a prop bet instead. As mentioned, Burnes has fanned almost 9 batters per start over the last 6 GS. BURNES OVER 7.5 K’s (-170) is worth a small-unit wager.

Over/Under

The Over is 7-0-1 in the Brewers’ last 8 games and 5-0-1 in the last 6 on grass. The Under is 4-0 in Contreras’ last 4 starts at home and 3-0-1 in Pittsburgh’s last 4 when the number is between 7 and 8.5. The Under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 between these teams. The Over hit Thursday, and this feels like an Under game with 2 hard throwers. LEAN UNDER 7.5 (-110).

Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (44-33) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (30-45) open a 4-game series Thursday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Brewers lead 6-0, including 3-0 in Pittsburgh.

The Brewers enter on a 4-game win streak, including a 2-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays on the road Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Pirates lost 2 of 3 games in Washington to kick off the week, and Pittsburgh is just 1-5 across the past six outings overall.

Brewers at Pirates projected starters

RHP Adrian Houser vs. RHP JT Brubaker

Houser (4-8, 4.50 ERA) makes his 15th start. He has a 1.45 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 through 74 IP.

  • Has a 1-3 record with a 5.86 ERA and .300 opponent batting average across 27 2/3 IP in 5 June starts.
  • Is 2-4 with a 5.50 ERA and .285 OBA in 34 1/3 IP across 7 road outings.

Brubaker (1-7, 4.14 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.43 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 through 76 IP.

  • Allowed 4 R (2 ER) with 2 H and 2 BB across 5 IP in a loss on the road against the Brewers April 19 in his only start vs. MIL this season.
  • Is 1-2 with a 4.06 ERA and a .258 OBA in 31 IP across 6 home starts.

Brewers at Pirates picks and predictions

Prediction

Brewers 6, Pirates 4

Money line

The BREWERS (-135) have picked up 6 wins in 6 tries against the Pirates (+110) this season. You have to keep fading Pittsburgh until it proves it can finally get over the hump against Milwaukee.

Run line/Against the spread

The BREWERS -1.5 (+125) are worth a roll of the dice, even though Houser has struggled this season. In the 6 wins by Milwaukee over Pittsburgh, 5 of the victories have been by 2 or more runs. The Brew Crew has outscored the Bucs 33-16 in the 6-game span.

Over/Under

The OVER 8.5 (-108) is going a little against the grain here, as the Under is 4-1-1 in the previous 6 meetings.

However, the Over is 4-2 in the past 6 starts by Houser, while the Over is 6-0-1 in the past 7 games overall for the Brewers and 5-2 in the past 7 on the road.

For the Bucs, the Over has hit in 5 of the past 6 games inside the NL Central, while cashing in each of Brubaker’s past 2 outings.

Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates Game 2 odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (70-47) suffered a 14-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates (42-74) Saturday afternoon, and will look to bounce back in the nightcap. First pitch for game two of the double-header is set for 7:05 p.m. ET at PNC Park. Let’s analyze the lines around the  Brewers vs. Pirates odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Brewers LHP Aaron Ashby (0-0, 13.50 ERA) will be making his third start of the year. He has pitched a total of 2 2/3 IP and allowed 4 ER with 1 K and 3 BB.

  • Ashby’s first start in June was ugly, as he surrendered 4 ER without escaping the first inning. He tossed 2 scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs last week, but a rain delay cut his outing short at just 23 pitches.
  • Posted a 4.48 ERA in Triple-A this season, along with a 14.1 K/9 and 4.6 BB/9. He hasn’t been pushed especially hard, as he has averaged fewer than 3 IP per appearance in his 22 games this season between Triple-A and the majors.

Pirates RHP Mitch Keller (3-9, 7.06 ERA) makes his 15th start. He has a 1.81 WHIP, 5.2 BB/9 and 8.9 K/9 through 57 1/3 IP.

  • A .364 BABIP and 65% LOB% have certainly played a role in his struggles, but Keller hasn’t done himself any favors with a BB/9 that is the eighth highest among pitchers with 10 or more starts.
  • Keller has been knocked around in his nine home starts this season. He has recorded an ugly 8.29 ERA while opposing batters have put up a .329/.420/.531 line against him.

Prediction

Brewers 5, Pirates 3

Money line (ML)

Ashby has a lot of talent, as shown by his impressive strikeout totals in Triple-A this season, but he is a work in progress and hasn’t proven anything at the big league level yet. We need to look no further than his opponent, Keller, to see that prospect pedigree doesn’t always translate to immediate success in the majors.

The Brewers should win, but this line is a little too high to invest in. PASS and look for value elsewhere.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Keller has been getting roughed up lately, and the Milwaukee bats are in a good spot for a big game Saturday night. Even factoring in Saturday afternoon’s win, the Pirates are 4-14 in their last 18 games, with 12 of the losses coming by more than 1 run.

BREWERS -1.5 (-112) is the side to take.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total has gone Over in each of Keller’s last four starts, as he has been very generous with the runs he’s allowing.

The Brewers should rebound from a blowout loss earlier in the day, while on the other side, Ashby can’t be expected to completely shut down the Pittsburgh offense. Look for this total to slide in OVER 7.5 (+105).
