The new trailer for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is Miles Morales fighting his origin story

Miles is back, and it looks like he’s trying to fight his destiny.

Almost five years ago, Sony blew us away with the colorful, charming, and hilarious Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This Spider-Man, featuring the young Miles Morales, was a breath of fresh air in a cinematic landscape rife with cookie-cutter superhero movies. It was a hard pivot from what we’ve come to expect of the “formula,” and aside from looking fantastic, boy — it was just so dang fun.

This summer, we finally get the Spider-Verse sequel. Predictably, it looks every bit as off-the-wall and visually stunning as its predecessor.

The new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse sees Miles pick up where he left off after the first film’s events. This is to say; like in almost every classic Spider-Man story, he’s trying to grapple with being a superhero and being a regular guy.

The issue this time around is when Miles discovers the Multiverse, he comes upon the Spider-Society. And its leader, Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), isn’t so keen on letting Miles enjoy himself as a teenager. It’s time to grow up and face reality — maybe even stomach the loss of a loved one — before he can truly become a Spider-Man.

But because it’s is his nature, Miles still wants to have it all.

With new cast members joining the “Spider-Verse” like Isaac, Daniel Kaluuya, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, and Jorma Taccone, the sequel promises to be an expected blast of creativity. It might even be the movie of the summer.

Miles and friends make another venture into the Spider-Verse (and into theatres) on June 2, 2023.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse dropped and it is absolutely perfect

Miles Morales is back for another multiverse adventure.

When Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped in 2018, a new standard for the web-slinging hero was created, whether you were talking animated or live-action. The Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse told the story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) getting his powers and learning the Spidey ropes from a litany of Spider-Man variations from alternate universes, including Peter B. Parker (voiced by New Girl’s Jake Johnson), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Spider-Man Noir (Nic Cage) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld).

It was a nearly flawless film, and we’ve been waiting a long four-plus years for a sequel. Well, we got a title (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), we have a release date (June 2, 2023) and now we have a new trailer.

Oscar Isaac, Issa Ray and Daniel Kaluuya are among those joining an already star-studded cast, and it looks amazing. Is that Peter B. Parker with a baby carrier? Who are all these Spider-People? Has Oscar Isaac been bad in anything? June 2nd can’t get here soon enough.
