Duke statistical leaders through four games

Does anyone on this list worry you?

There are few programs college football fans are buying more stock in right now than Duke. Maybe the only program that has turned more heads is the Deion Sanders-led Colorado. ESPN decided that there’s enough interest in the Blue Devils that the next episode of “College GameDay” will be broadcast from Durham. For once, people on Duke’s campus are excited and not about men’s basketball.

It is there that Notre Dame will play this weekend coming off the toughest of losses to Ohio State. The Irish will be facing a team trying to prove it’s for real and belongs with the best of college football. Plus, a raucous crowd at Wallace Wade Stadium likely will be waiting for them. Only they will be able to put a damper on the celebratory mood.

Here are the players who have gotten it done for the Blue Devils so far and will look to continue to do so against the Irish:

KNOXVILLE — Wide receiver Miles Jones transferred to Tennessee from Nebraska in January.

The 5-foot-8, 172-pound redshirt sophomore took part in the Vols’ two spring practices before the coronavirus pandemic canceled college athletics.

Jones recorded one reception for 21 yards in 2018 for the Huskers. He also had one rushing attempt for five yards.

Tennessee opened fall training camp this week ahead of the upcoming season that kicks off Sept. 26 at South Carolina. Jones is not listed on the University of Tennessee’s roster.

Tennessee lands wide receiver transfer from Nebraska

Tennessee lands wide receiver transfer from Nebraska.

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee added another wide receiver to its roster on Wednesday, as redshirt sophomore Miles Jones transferred from Nebraska.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound receiver was rated the No. 44 athlete in the 2018 class on the 247 Sports Composite, and a three-star prospect who held offers from schools such as Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin and Kentucky.

As a freshman at Nebraska, Jones only caught one pass for 21 yards before missing the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury and redshirting. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native only played in four games for Nebraska in 2019 before electing to transfer.

Tennessee loses nearly all of its production from the wide receiver position in 2019, as Marquez Callaway and Jauan Jennings graduate and move on to prepare for the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Volunteers return Josh Palmer, Brandon Johnson and Ramel Keyton to the wide receiver room in 2020, as well.
