The Chiefs cut Weber in May. He has not played in a regular season game.

At Ohio State, Weber rushed for 2,722 yards and 24 touchdowns over three seasons. He replaced Ezekiel Elliott as a redshirt freshman in 2016 and was named a second-team All-Big Ten pick.

Weber (5-10, 211) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine. He also did 22 reps on the bench press and hit 33.5″ on the vertical leap.

Former Ohio State running back Mike Weber auctioning off Super Bowl ring

Former Ohio State running back Mike Weber is selling his Super Bowl ring, one month after earning it from the Kansas City Chiefs.

A report surfaced Thursday that former Ohio State Football running back Mike Weber was auctioning off his Super Bowl ring he earned while on the Kansas City Chiefs. The ring popped up on Goldin auctions with a minimum bid of $35,000. As of writing this the current bid was $60,000. Weber got the ring about a month ago.

Weber was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and spent the entire year on their practice squad. When the Cowboys season ended, Weber joined the Chiefs’ practice squad in January. A few weeks later the Chiefs beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl.

So far Weber has not said anything publicly as to why he is auctioning off the ring. He was cut in May from the Chiefs and is currently a free agent. He was set to earn $610,000 before he was released. Interestingly, Weber auctioned off the ring on the same day the Chiefs signed Le’Veon Bell.

Report: Chiefs to waive TE Alize Mack, RB Mike Weber

After making a pair of additions over the weekend, the Chiefs have made two moves to bring the roster back down to 90 players.

The Kansas City Chiefs made some new additions to the roster over the weekend, signing DE Taco Charlton and undrafted free agent QB Shea Patterson. With those signings come corresponding moves to make room on the 90-man offseason roster.

According to Chiefs Digest beat writer Matt Derrick, the Chiefs have waived TE Alize Mack and RB Mike Weber in order to make room for the incoming acquisitions. Both players previously signed reserve/future contracts with Kansas City this offseason. They both figured to be involved in their respective position battles during training camp for the Chiefs, but they’ll no longer have that opportunity.

Mack spent some time on the Chiefs’ practice squad in early November. He was a former seventh-round draft pick by the Saints, who didn’t make it through 53-man roster cuts n 2019. He was eventually released when Kansas City needed players at the DT position amid injuries. He eventually rejoined the team on the reserve/future deal, but that was clearly short-lived.

Weber was signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad in January. Weber was drafted in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He didn’t make the 53-man roster and signed to the practice squad in Dallas, spending the majority of the 2019 season there. He figured to have an opportunity to compete, but with the running back room adding depth in DeAndre Washington and now first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire, his chances of making the roster or even the practice squad were very slim.

While the new signings have been made official by the Chiefs, these corresponding transactions have not yet been made official. Both players have already been removed from the official roster, so expect the no recall waiver requests to appear on the transaction report today or later this week.

Former Ohio State RB Mike Weber signed to Chiefs practice squad

Former Ohio State running back Mike Weber has been signed to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.

In the category of where are they now, according to our sister site Chiefs Wire, former Ohio State running back Mike Weber has been signed to the team’s practice squad. The news was first relayed by Chiefsdigest.com’s Mike Derrick in a Tweet Wednesday.

If you’re a Buckeye fan, the last thing you likely remember about the Weber is that he left OSU a year early to enter the 2019 NFL Draft, was taken by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round, but never really found himself a home in Dallas. He was cut from the official roster by America’s Team on August 31st before being signed onto its practice squad.

Now he’s back with another opportunity by the way of the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, before anyone that’s a Weber fan gets too excited, we all know how hard it is to go from a scout team role to one on the active roster. Let’s not pull any punches here — it’ll take some pretty eye-turning plays or injuries for Weber to get a real crack at playing on Sundays.

Nonetheless, the news of the former Buckeye still remaining in the league with an opportunity is a positive one.
