Taylor Swift’s Midnights album cover is the new sports meme and it’s wonderful

Midnights has taken over since its release Friday morning.

In case you have been living under a rock, Taylor Swift dropped her newest studio album, Midnights, at midnight (duh) on Friday. To the delight of fans, she revealed seven new tracks in what is now dubbed the Midnights (3am Edition), bringing the total to 20 new perfect songs.

The album cover — which features Swift flicking a lighter and the track titles listed down the side — has become an instant meme. Of course, several sports entities have taken it and made it their own.

It seems particularly popular in the world of college athletics, with everyone from Ole Miss to Kennesaw State to Duke getting on board.

Here’s everything we know about Taylor Swift, her new album and Thursday Night Football

We answer all your questions about Taylor Swift and TNF.

If you have completely sworn off Thursday Night Football after several weeks of mind-blowingly dull action, Taylor Swift is here to bring you back in. The iconic singer-songwriter is dropping her newest album, “Midnights”,  Oct. 21 at  — you guessed it — midnight, and in order to prepare fans, Tay Tay is going to crash the Amazon party and share a teaser trailer during tonight’s Saints-Cardinals game. If the last two weeks are any indication — there have been nine field goals to just two touchdowns — the appearance of Swift is likely to be the most exciting thing that happens.

According to her latest tweet, Swift’s glimpse into the new album will land in the third quarter between New Orleans and Arizona.

So here’s everything we know:

How to watch Taylor Swift’s exclusive ‘Midnights’ teaser trailer on Thursday Night Football

Swifties are buzzing about an “exclusive premiere” set for next week’s broadcast of Thursday Night Football  — the night before Swift drops her new album, “Midnights”, on Oct. 21.

Taylor Swift fans hoping for a sneak peek of her new album, “Midnights”, hours before its official release can tune into the third quarter of Thursday Night Football Oct. 20 for a special teaser trailer.

Swifties were tipped off on last week’s TNF broadcast that there would be an exclusive premiere set for tonight’s Saints-Cardinals game, but Swift confirmed it this week with an Instagram post showing the premiere on her schedule and a tweet she sent Thursday morning.

Arguably the most anticipated release of Swift’s career, fans have been busy gathering “Midnights” breadcrumbs for weeks — including many from Taylor herself — about the album’s track list, cover art, and, perhaps most importantly, just who’s going to regret ever crossing her after they find themselves in an expertly crafted metaphor or bridge that’s so good it’s re-released as a short film a decade later.

Though most Swifties probably weren’t searching for “Midnights” news in a football broadcast on Prime Video, it didn’t take long for fans to find out about Charissa Thompson’s cryptic-adjacent announcement on last week’s broadcast:

@kaateperkins thankful my boyfriend watches football or I wouldn’t have caught this #fyp #taylorswift #nfl #thursdaynightfootball #midnights #swifttok #swifties ♬ original sound – Kate Perkins

“…it might be time to break out the cardigans and red scarf. For the Bears, they need to calm down and get things turned around so the clock doesn’t strike midnight on their season. And if that sounds like I’m intentionally making more than my fair share of references to arguably the most famous musical artist in the world right now, well, you know what? You know it all too well, and you might just want to check out Thursday Night Football on Prime Video next week as the Saints travel to Arizona for an exclusive premiere of something very, very special.”

It’s safe to say Amazon’s new and less-than-spectacular broadcast is set to get its highest ratings of the season, all thanks to Tay.

The teaser trailer will air during the third quarter of Thursday Night Football streaming on Prime Video.
