Michigan State football dominates Richmond, 45-14, to improve to 2-0

Michigan State improves to 2-0 after a convincing win over Richmond on Saturday:

Michigan State came into East Lansing Saturday playing as the hosts to the Spiders of Richmond. The Spartans were able to take care of business and dominated the Spiders, winning the game 45-14, to improve to 2-0 on the 2023 season.

The game was never in question for the Spartans, despite another slow start from the offense, Noah Kim completed his last 17 passes in a convincing performance where he finished 18-for-22 with 292 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Nate Carter paced the way on the ground, rushing the ball 19 times for 111 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Spartans defense was stout all game long, and with the team up 38-0, it was an offensive fumble that was returned for a touchdown that opened the scoring for Richmond. The Spartans defense racked up 7 sacks while the starting unit did not allow a touchdown.

All in all, it was a solid win for Michigan State heading into a huge clash against Washington next week inside of Spartan Stadium.

Watch Antonio Gates Jr.’s first touchdown as a Spartan:

Antonio Gates Jr. was a very highly anticipated recruit coming out of Dearborn Fordson High School. Not only because he was a 4-star wide receiver, but he is the son of future NFL Hall of Fame tight end Antonio Gates.

Gates has gotten some good run as a wide receiver this year, notably for his solid run blocking, but now, he has caught his first career pass as a Spartan and it went for a touchdown!
