Michigan State football was handled by a far superior team on Saturday night.

MSU football gets blown out at Ohio State

To no surprise, Michigan State stood no chance in a prime time matchup against Ohio State on Saturday

To no surprise, Michigan State stood no chance in a prime time matchup against Ohio State on Saturday.

The Spartans experienced yet another dismantling loss on Saturday, this time at the hands of Ohio State. The final score was 38-3 and it was not even that close.

Michigan State was able to move the ball effectively in the first half but all of those drives stalled with the Spartans going into the break in a big hole. Ohio State led 35-3 at the break, with Ohio State star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. recording three touchdowns.

Ohio State elected to call off the dogs in the second half, with the Buckeyes pulling a majority of their starters early in the frame. That resulted in Ohio State only adding three points to their lead in the easy victory.

Katin Houser got his fifth straight start at quarterback for Michigan State. He completed 12 of 24 passes for only 92 yards. As a team, Michigan State only recorded 182 total yards compared to 530 for the Buckeyes.

With the loss, Michigan State drops to 3-7 on the year and will officially finish with a losing record for a second straight season. The Spartans’ chances of reaching a bowl game are essentially over as well.

Michigan State will return to the field next week in a road game at Indiana. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Another week, another blowout loss for Michigan State

Another week, another blowout loss for Michigan State.

For a fourth straight week, Michigan State fell by double digits — this time against Ohio State, 49-20. The Buckeyes entered this game as a near four-touchdown favorite, and while things were close into the second quarter, that quickly changed.

Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud finished with 361 passing yards, six touchdowns and one interception. He only had five incomplete passes — one less than touchdowns thrown. Conversely, Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne finished with 113 passing yards for one touchdown and one interception.

Overall, the Spartans were out gained by Ohio State 614-to-202 in total yards. The Buckeyes had 29 first downs to only 12 for the Spartans.

See what Michigan State will wear when they take the field against Ohio State this week

Michigan State football will make a slight tweak to their regular helmet to potentially get some extra inspiration as massive underdogs this week.

The Spartans revealed the uniform combination they’ll be wearing this week, and the helmet appears awfully similar to what was worn when the Spartans last had a huge upset over Ohio State in 1998. The Michigan State helmet will feature a triple stripe down the middle of the helmet, which was the same the Spartans wore in 1998.

The rest of the uniform appears to be standard for the Spartans, with their green home jersey and white pants. Check out the hype uniform reveal video and additional images below to see the complete uniform combination:
