Four more fighters have parted ways with the UFC.

Multiple people with knowledge of the situation recently informed MMA Junkie of the roster moves but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion hasn’t made official announcements.

Check out the recent UFC departures below. The roster moves, unless explicitly noted, are not necessarily a “release.” The UFC may have elected not to re-sign certain fighters who were at the end of their contracts.

Former UFC fighter Michel Prazeres accepts four-year suspension following failed drug test

Days after news of his UFC departure went public, “Trator” has been suspended by USADA for four years.

Former UFC welterweight [autotag]Michel Prazeres[/autotag] has accepted a four-year suspension following a failed out-of-competition drug test.

The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, announced Prazeres’ sanction Thursday, which stems from four different urine samples that all tested positive for the banned substances clomiphene, oxandrolone, and the exogenous administration of testosterone.

The violation comes in the midst of a previous two-year suspension for exogenous boldenone, which USADA issued to him in February 2020.

“Anabolic agents have powerful performance-enhancing capabilities and can give an athlete an unfair advantage over fellow competitors,” USADA officials stated in a press release.

The tests were collected Aug. 27, Sept. 16, Oct. 15, and Nov. 2, 2021. Prazeres will be eligible to compete again on Aug. 27, 2025, four years from the date of the initial positive sample.

Prazeres, 40, parted ways with the UFC in early December. Shortly thereafter, he told MMA Fighting that he asked for his UFC release.

“I asked to released,” Prazeres said. “I’ll focus on the business I have in Belem, and who knows, maybe I’ll come back to fighting in the future. I’ll focus on jiu-jitsu and relax.”

Prazeres (20-6) exits the UFC with a 10-4 record in the promotion. During his eight-and-a-half-year tenure with the promotion, Prazeres competed against the likes of Kevin Lee, Mairbek Taisumov and Gilbert Burns among others.

UFC Fight Night 190 video: Shavkat Rakhmonov becomes first to finish Michel Prazeres, moves to 14-0

Shavkat Rakhmonov remained perfect in MMA competition with all finishes when he put away Michel Prazeres at UFC Fight Night 190.

[autotag]Shavkat Rakhmonov[/autotag] remained perfect with nothing but finishes when he put away [autotag]Michel Prazeres[/autotag] at UFC Fight Night 190 on Saturday.

Rakhmonov (14-0 MMa, 2-0 UFC), a 26-year-old from Kazakhstan, is one of the top prospects in the welterweight division. He showed why with a showcase effort against the historically durable Prazeres (26-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) to score a second-round submission at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

After it looked like Prazeres might be able to test Rakhmonov in the first round, Rakhmonov made adjustments going into the second and found the striking range to inflict damage. The fight spilled to the ground, and eventually Rakhmonov took the back and secured the rear-naked choke.

Rakhmonov has now finished all of his opponents inside the distance through 14 career fights. He was the first to stop Prazeres, and said he hopes that leads him to a big fight at 170 pounds.

“I know I deserve to be in the top 15,” Shavkat Rakhmonov said through an interpreter in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. “Hopefully I will get to fight someone there.”

UFC welterweight Michel Prazeres accepts two-year USADA suspension

Michel Prazeres won’t be seen in a UFC octagon anytime soon.

[autotag]Michel Prazeres[/autotag] has accepted a two-year suspension from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.

The UFC welterweight’s sanction stems from two-out-of-competition urine samples he provided on March 9, 2019, per a press release from USADA distributed Tuesday.

According to USADA, Prazeres (26-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) “tested positive for exogenous boldenone and its metabolite 5β-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one.” Prazeres will be eligible to return March 9, 2021. He’ll be 39.

USADA’s statement reads:

“Prazeres, 38, tested positive for exogenous boldenone and its metabolite 5β-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one as the result of two out-of-competition urine samples he provided on March 9, 2019. Confirmation of the positive test was achieved through additional analysis using the sensitive isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC/C/IRMS) method, which reported laboratory results consistent with the exogenous origin of boldenone. Boldenone is a non-Specified Substance in the class of Anabolic Agents and is prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy and UFC Prohibited List.”

Prazeres most recently competed, and lost, at UFC on ESPN+ 3 in February 2019. Prior to the unanimous decision defeat to Ismail Naurdiev, Prazeres was riding an eight-fight winning streak dating back to late 2015.

Out of his 13 UFC appearances, Prazeres has only lost three times. He compiled three submissions and seven decision victories in 10 wins. Notable UFC victories include Zak Cummings, Gilbert Burns and Mairbek Taisumov.
