The Miami Dolphins will meet the New England Patriots in Week 1 NFL action on Sunday afternoon from Gillette Stadium.

The Dolphins are coming off a 10-6 record under Brian Flores last year and they had some signs that they are getting better in a tough AFC East division. As for the Patriots, they will start their new quarterback from Alabama, Mac Jones and he looked great in the preseason. Will Tua or Mac come out of this game on top?

This will be a great Sunday of NFL football, here is everything you need to know to stream the NFL action today.

Why New England Patriots Will Win

Which Patriot team will show up?

If it’s the one that couldn’t do much of anything right offensively against the Rams last week, forget it. If it’s the one that showed up against the Chargers the week before that and dominated defensively, the Dolphins are in trouble.

New England managed to win in the first meeting with the Dolphins thanks to 217 rushing yards in the opener. Run well against Miami, and you’ve got a shot. The Patriots are still leading the NFL in rushing attempts, and they need control from the start.

Why Miami Dolphins Will Win

Takeaways. New England doesn’t give the ball away all that often – it has only given away one turnover in five of the last six games – but the Dolphins are great at making teams screw up with multiple takeaways in each of the last four games and ten in all in those four.

New England doesn’t have the passing game to come back, so get up fast, and good things will happen which puts all of the pressure on …

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

QB Cam Newton, New England
It’s the biggest call of several fantasy league playoffs. If you get the Cam who has to throw, there’s a problem with just five touchdown passes on the year. But is this when he runs for two scores? He came up with 75 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the opener against Miami, and he ran for two touchdowns in four games. Get the right day, and you’re win.

What’s Going To Happen

The Patriots aren’t getting that ground game going this time around.

It worked in the first game, but the Miami defense is better, the team has found a bit of a groove, and despite losing two of the last four, it’s a team on the rise. The Dolphins are right on edge of the playoffs – they’re currently in the seventh and final spot in the ACC – and now they’re going to rise up and end the Patriots’ hopes.

NFL Week 1 Bets: 5 best ATS bets to make

Analyzing the early sports betting odds and lines for Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season, picking the 5 best bets against the spread.

With the recent release of the 2020 NFL schedule, BetMGM posted lines for Week 1. Here are five of the best bets vs. the spread to make for Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Sunday, May 10 at 1:50 a.m. ET.

Best bet 1: Miami Dolphins (+6.5) at New England Patriots

Sunday, Sept. 13 (1 p.m. ET)

The Dolphins went out in the offseason and spent a bunch of money in free agency and also added talent in the draft. They still have a productive veteran starting quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the Pats have lost many key players; most importantly, QB Tom Brady. The Dolphins aren’t as bad as they were a year ago and the Pats are not going to be as good.

Best bet 2: Arizona Cardinals (+8.5) at San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, Sept. 13 (4:25 p.m. ET)

The 49ers lost a key offensive weapon in WR Emmanuel Sanders and traded away DL DeForest Buckner. Even in their 13-3 season a year ago, they failed to cover the spread in both games vs. the Cardinals. Arizona added WR DeAndre Hopkins and upgraded its 31st-ranked defense from 2019.

Best bet 3: New Orleans Saints (-4.5) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Sunday, Sept. 13 (4:25 p.m. ET)

The Bucs might have Brady at QB, but with a shortened offseason and a new offense that traditionally takes a few games for quarterbacks to adjust to, expect New Orleans to come out on fire. The Saints added another big weapon in the passing game in WR Sanders, while they still have QB Drew Brees, RB Alvin Kamara and WR Michael Thomas.

Best bet 4: Tennessee Titans (+2.5) at Denver Broncos

Monday, Sept. 14 (10:10 p.m. ET)

The Broncos added young receivers in the draft but the Titans were one of the hottest teams in the NFL after Ryan Tannehill took over at quarterback. Tannehill returns as does RB Derrick Henry. Tennessee will beat Denver, especially with Drew Lock at QB for the Broncos.

Best bet 5: Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5) at New York Giants

Monday, Sept. 14 (7:15 p.m. ET)

The Steelers get QB Ben Roethlisberger back. The Giants still have questions around their defense. New York QB Daniel Jones has more protection, but the lack of an offseason with a new head coach will show in Week 1.

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots Week 17 matchup with NFL betting odds, picks and best bets.

[jwplayer H1XghbKE]

The New England Patriots (12-3) host the Miami Dolphins (4-11) at Gillette Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m. ET to close out the regular season. We analyze the Patriots-Dolphins odds and betting lines, while providing best-bet options around this Week 17 NFL matchup.

The Patriots, who have already won the AFC East and have punched their ticket to the NFL playoffs, can clinch a first-round bye with a win or tie — or a Kansas City Chiefs loss or tie. With Kansas City playing the Los Angeles Chargers at 1 p.m. ET, you can expect the Patriots to play to win.

Miami, of course, has been eliminated from playoff contention.

  • The Patriots pulled off a big 24-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills last week, covering across the board and hitting the Over.
  • The Dolphins are coming off a 38-35 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • Patriots QB Tom Brady hit 78.8 percent of his passes last week against Buffalo; it was the first time since Week 6 that his completion percentage was north of 70%.
  • These two teams met in Week 2; a 43-0 New England victory. The Patriots have won three of the last five meetings vs. the Dolphins. Each of the Miami wins came during December, although those were games in South Florida.

Dolphins at Patriots: Key injuries

New England WR Julian Edelman (knee/shoulder), officially questionable, was limited all week, but he’s been toughing it out come game-day.

Dolphins WR Allen Hurns (ankle/neck) was limited all week and is questionable.

Prediction

Patriots 26, Dolphins 13

Moneyline (?)

There’s nothing smart about betting on a team with -1112 odds like the Patriots have been given entering this one. This is extreme chalk. You’d have to risk $1,112 to win $100. No thank you.

While I like the Patriots to win, I couldn’t blame you for tossing a small-unit wager on the Dolphins (+660) at ridiculously high odds.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet would profit $66 with a Miami upset.

Against the Spread (?)

While the Patriots cruised in their first matchup, the teams are significantly different at the tail-end of the season. MIAMI (+15.5, -110) should be able to mount just enough offense to keep this within the large spread. I’m always more than a little skeptical of two-plus touchdown spreads in divisional games. The Patriots have scored better than 30 points just once during the second half of the season.

The Dolphins are 4-3-0 vs. ATS on the road this year, but just 4-11 overall. New England is 12-3 ATS overall, but just 3-3-1 at home.

Over/Under (?)

The UNDER (44.5, -110) is the lean, as the Patriots defense will generally limit the challenged Dolphins offense and the New England offense isn’t special enough right now to blow up Miami. The Pats are 6-9-0 vs. the O/U this season, including 3-4-0 at home. The Dolphins are 3-4-0 vs. the O/U on the road.
