Why New Orleans Saints Will Win

The Saints were able to win the first meeting with the Buccaneers with great day from the defense with three takeaways and enough of a passing day to be in control throughout.

Michael Thomas is expected back, the offense has been able to get by lately without him, and the defense should be able to hold down the middling Buc running game to make it all about Tom Brady taking over. The Saints have allowed just one 100-yard rushing day in the last five outings, and the Bucs haven’t hit the 100-yard mark over the last two weeks.

CFN Experts Picks: NFL

Why Tampa Bay Buccaneers Will Win

The defense has been a machine. It’s fifth in the NFL in takeaways with 20 – the loss to the Saints was the only game without forcing a turnover – and now it’s been a killer at forcing mistakes.

It’ll be all about Brees and the passing game for the Saints – the Tampa Bay run defense isn’t allowing a thing. On the other side, yes, New Orleans forced three takeaways in the opener, and just three since.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

WR Mike Evans, Tampa Bay
This should mark the triumphant return of both Michael Thomas and Antonio Brown in what promises to be a shootout. But Bruce Arians explicitly said this week that Brown’s presence should free-up Evans for more one-on-one deep shots. So far, Evans has largely been used as a red zone target with 6 of his 7 TDs coming inside the 10. Look for Evans to finally get free deep.

What’s Going To Happen

And here comes the revenge. Tampa Bay hasn’t been perfect, but its defense has been fantastic, Brady will outplay Brees, and in a reviews of the first meeting, the takeaways will be on the other side.

NFL Week 1 Bets: 5 best ATS bets to make

Analyzing the early sports betting odds and lines for Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season, picking the 5 best bets against the spread.

With the recent release of the 2020 NFL schedule, BetMGM posted lines for Week 1. Here are five of the best bets vs. the spread to make for Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Sunday, May 10 at 1:50 a.m. ET.

Best bet 1: Miami Dolphins (+6.5) at New England Patriots

Sunday, Sept. 13 (1 p.m. ET)

The Dolphins went out in the offseason and spent a bunch of money in free agency and also added talent in the draft. They still have a productive veteran starting quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick, while the Pats have lost many key players; most importantly, QB Tom Brady. The Dolphins aren’t as bad as they were a year ago and the Pats are not going to be as good.

Best bet 2: Arizona Cardinals (+8.5) at San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, Sept. 13 (4:25 p.m. ET)

The 49ers lost a key offensive weapon in WR Emmanuel Sanders and traded away DL DeForest Buckner. Even in their 13-3 season a year ago, they failed to cover the spread in both games vs. the Cardinals. Arizona added WR DeAndre Hopkins and upgraded its 31st-ranked defense from 2019.

Best bet 3: New Orleans Saints (-4.5) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Sunday, Sept. 13 (4:25 p.m. ET)

The Bucs might have Brady at QB, but with a shortened offseason and a new offense that traditionally takes a few games for quarterbacks to adjust to, expect New Orleans to come out on fire. The Saints added another big weapon in the passing game in WR Sanders, while they still have QB Drew Brees, RB Alvin Kamara and WR Michael Thomas.

Best bet 4: Tennessee Titans (+2.5) at Denver Broncos

Monday, Sept. 14 (10:10 p.m. ET)

The Broncos added young receivers in the draft but the Titans were one of the hottest teams in the NFL after Ryan Tannehill took over at quarterback. Tannehill returns as does RB Derrick Henry. Tennessee will beat Denver, especially with Drew Lock at QB for the Broncos.

Best bet 5: Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5) at New York Giants

Monday, Sept. 14 (7:15 p.m. ET)

The Steelers get QB Ben Roethlisberger back. The Giants still have questions around their defense. New York QB Daniel Jones has more protection, but the lack of an offseason with a new head coach will show in Week 1.

  • New Orleans has covered three straight on the road, although this is its first time being favored away from home this season. Last season the Saints were 4-2 ATS in six games as a road favorite, including a 28-14 win at Tampa as 10-point favorites.

Prediction

Saints 34, Buccaneers 26

Moneyline (?)

The Saints (-239) should be able to bounce back on the road in this divisional battle, but risking more than two times your return is not a wise way to go. The Buccaneers (+195) are awful on defense, but so were the Falcons. If there is any way to go, it’s the Bucs rather lightly.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Bucs moneyline returns a $19.50 profit with a Tampa Bay victory.

Against the Spread (?)

The SAINTS (-5.5, -110) should be able to get it done on the road, as long as their offense shows up. Their showing against an awful Atlanta defense was inexplicable, and you can expect them to pick apart the leaky D of the Buccaneers (+5.5, -110).

Over/Under (?)

The OVER 50.5 (-110) is the play whenever the Bucs are involved. The over has cashed in seven straight for the Bucs, and four of the past five at the RayJay. The Under has connected in eight of the past 11 on the road for the Saints, but the over is 9-3 in their past 12 following a straight-up loss.

Buccaneers-Saints early odds: New Orleans road favorite vs. Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are home dogs when they host the New Orleans Saints in Week 11.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-6) host the New Orleans Saints (7-2) in a NFL Week 11 matchup Sunday, Nov. 17th, at 1:00 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium. The game can be watched on FOX and NFL Redzone. The Saints, coming off their second loss of the year, enter as the solid favorite, according to odds from BetMGM.

The Saints (-250) are favored by 5.5 (-115) points against the spread (ATS) over the Bucs. New to sports betting? With a spread of -5.5, that means the Saints need to not only beat the Buccaneers, but they need to win by at least six points for an ATS wager on them to cash. That half-point is referred to as a hook.

Feeling a upset? A $10 wager on the Buccaneers (+185) would pay $18.50 in profit should they win outright. Meanwhile, a $10 wager on the Saints to win outright returns a profit of just $4.00.

The Over/Under on the Saints/Buccaneers game has been set at 51.5, which is one of the higher early lines of the week. Both sides of the O/U are -110 for this Week 11 NFL matchup.
