WATCH: MLB cancels London series between Cubs and Cardinals

Major League Baseball has canceled its two-game London Series between the Cubs and the Cardinals.

Major League Baseball has canceled the two-game London series between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, which was set to be played at Olympic Stadium June 13-14.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told MLB employees of the cancellation through a memo sent on Wednesday.

“We made the decision because it was unlikely the events would go forward, and timely cancellation allowed us to preserve important financial resources.”

The league had already canceled its Mexico City and Puerto Rico series in March. The Diamondbacks and Padres were set to play the first-ever regular-season games in Mexico City April 18-19. The Miami Marlins and New York Mets were scheduled to play in San Juan, Puerto Rico, April 28-30.
