Travis Kelce expected to be joined by Chiefs teammates at ‘Kelce Jam’

#Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Medium Rare founders about Travis Kelce’s fun activities and teammates appearing at ‘Kelce Jam’

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s community festival, ‘Kelce Jam’, returns on Saturday, May 18th. The three-time Super Bowl champion will provide new ways to entertain fans after his viral moment with a replica Lombardi trophy last year.

Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Medium Rare founders Joe Silberzweig and Adam Richman about Travis Kelce’s fun activities, surprises, and teammates appearing at ‘Kelce Jam’.

“That’s secret, and that’s the magic of ‘Kelce Jam’, you never know what’s going to happen,” Richman explained. “Last year, going into it, we had no clue he’d [Kelce] bring the Lombardi trophy and essentially do a beer luge and spike in some form.

“That’s the magic, [of] ‘Kelce Jam’. You don’t know what’s going to happen. I think we are all in store for a bunch of different surprises. Who knows, maybe some surprise guests, something Travis does, you never know, will happen.”

The event will include the best KC restaurants at UberEats Merchant Row, custom cocktails, and interactive brand activations by Uncrustable, Wingstop, Lee Jeans, Rogaine, and more. Chiefs All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie will also attend a special meet-and-greet with Uber One members.

“I will tell you that there are a couple of fun moments in particular that we’re planning,” said Silberzweig. “Beyond Lil Wayne, Diplo, and Two Chainz, Travis is going to have a big main stage moment when he’s introduced to the crowd and says a few words.

“Then, almost like an interactive festival or variety show, Travis will leave some fun things on stage before Two Chainz comes. He’ll be doing and leading a Wingstop chicken wing challenge where we will have some Chiefs players competing, and Travis will be judging. So that’ll be super fun.”

The multiple-time Pro Bowler has never disappointed in providing memorable moments for fans, and this year’s festival is shaping up to be another unforgettable night in Kansas City.

“It’s not your typical Music Festival. I want to make these moments fun and engaging so they’ll participate,” said Silberzweig.” There will also be a drone show and a few random surprises. I think the magic is in some surprises.”

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce curated the music lineup for ‘Kelce Jam’ festival

#Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Medium Rare about Travis Kelce’s lineup for ‘Kelce Jam,’ featuring Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Diplo.

‘Kelce Jam’ will return to Kansas City on Saturday, May 18th, for the second consecutive year, bringing music, food, and fun. Medium Rare and Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowler Travis Kelce are collaborating to bring over 20,000 fans of all ages with a musical guest list of the top names in the industry.

Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Medium Rare founders Joe Silberzweig and Adam Richman about Travis Kelce’s lineup for ‘Kelce Jam,’ featuring Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Diplo.

“Travis is here curating the lineup. These were names that he sought after, and he knew that they were not only his favorites but also that they had a good pulse on the city,” Richman explained. “Things would be great names for him to bring the KC, and he wants to bring a mix of hip-hop and electronic music. And I think we did a good balancing act by Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Diplo on the electronic side.

“He has his fingers on the city’s pulse and can call in favors against legends that may not have come otherwise. I don’t think Lil Wayne has been in Kansas City for quite some time. (He) may not have come, but when Travis Kelce calls, you answer. That’s proven here, with Lil Wayne being such an iconic legend coming and showing out for ‘Kelce Jam’ because of his and Travis’ relationship.”

Rick Ross, MGK, and Tech N9ine were the headliners last year, and this year’s group looks to build on the inaugural lineup. The music choices from Kelce have focused again on being something everyone can enjoy in Kansas City.

“What was important for Travis is making this festival feel like it’s for everyone and that younger, old, moving families want to come out,” said Silberzweig. “No matter what your tastes are, this festival is for the masses. This is for the people of KC. They get started at $49, And the musical lineup speaks to that, right? It’s a little bit of everything. We have some local DJs opening and building throughout the evening with our headliners.

“Still, we tried to make sure that these are huge names that everybody knows and that, as Adam said, some icons people can sing along to but also show some a Travis style and bring on Diplo, a cool name to get the party going.”

Medium Rare reflects on starting ‘Kelce Jam’ partnership with Chiefs TE Travis Kelce

Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Medium Rare founders Joe Silberzweig and Adam Richman about their partnership with Travis Kelce on ‘Kelce Jam’

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is a man of the people, especially in Western Missouri, with his constant work in the community and All-Pro play on the football field. The announcement of a second consecutive ‘Kelce Jam’ in Kansas City on Saturday, May 18th, is another example of his giving back and business savvy.

Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Medium Rare founders Joe Silberzweig and Adam Richman about the company’s origins and teaming with Kelce on ‘Kelce Jam.’

“Adam and I met while we were working at SFX Entertainment, which at the time was one of the biggest music festival promoters in the country,” Silberzweig explained. “We were running some of the biggest festivals, and I went on to Live Nation. We got our education almost like a college experience, working for some of the best festivals in the country.

“What we saw quickly was that these events felt a little more original. By working with some celebrities, who are the face of the festival, they can become national media properties. However, the whole ethos is to work with iconic celebrities and athletes’ brands to bring their personalities and DNA to life in a fun and authentic way.”

Since starting their business, the duo has been honored with six Webby Awards, Variety Hollywood New Leaders, Forbes 30 Under 30, and Pollstar’s Next Gen Impact List.

“So [we] started with Shaquille O’Neal, and he wanted to do a late-night carnival with him. For Gronk [Rob Gronkowski], he was over partying at night; we wanted ‘Gronk Beach’ during the day, and so on,” said Silberzweig. “All the properties are 50/50 joint ventures where a celebrity partner has a big say in the look and feel of the event. And you feel that as a consumer, they’re not just getting paid to make an appearance, but it’s their event that they’re very passionate about.”

Since its inception, Medium Rare has become the go-to festival builder for some of the biggest names in Sports and Entertainment. In 2020, its success caught the attention of one of the NFL’s highest-paid tight ends.

Said Richman:

“Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes visited Shaq’s Funhouse in Atlanta in 2020. They were at one of our events. Early on, we formed a relationship with Travis’s managers. After Shaq’s Funhouse, we got to know each other and kept in touch. Travis then came to Gronk Beach and NFL draft Vegas in 2022. Travis grabbed us and said we got to do one of these. For me. We said, alright, let’s think about it. Look, Travis is an active player. It takes away, right? A lot of the calendar year of when you can do it about right, you can’t do a Super Bowl because, hopefully, the Chiefs are gonna be playing there every year; you’re very limited when you can do. We said, holy crap, the NFL draft is in Kansas City next year. It feels perfect and serendipitous that Travis wants to do this; the draft is in Kansas City. We did that last year and weren’t sure what to do for year two. Knowing that one of the main reasons we did it last year was because the draft was in K.C..”

The three-time Super Bowl champion’s success on and off the field has continued to make him a household name. This made the decision to do a follow-up ‘Kelce Jam’ festival this year easy for all involved.

“After the success of year one in KC and just how much bigger profile Travis got in the last 12 months. It was like an absolute no-brainer to bring it back to K.C.,” Richman said. “Normally, we’re like, hey, we have to do it at a Super Bowl; we have to do it at a draft. It has to be tied to a sports or entertainment weekend. And now, just seeing the love Travis encapsulates. It feels like a no-brainer to bring it back.”
