To kick it all off from a player standpoint, the Maxwell Award, that goes to college football’s best player annually, unveiled its preseason watch list on Monday and two Buckeyes were among the 85 players mentioned.

Receivers Marvin Harrison Jr and Emeka Egbuka were given the early nod as two players to keep an eye on, and nobody should be surprised. Both receivers are coming off of years in which they went over 1,000 yards, and both are expected to be two of — if not the two best — college receivers this fall and first-round NFL draft picks.

The Maxwell Football club made the announcement on social media and if you are so inclined, you can check out the rest of the names below.

We’ll continue to keep track of all the way too early watch lists as things are unveiled so stay with us if that’s your thing. And if it’s not, stay with us anyway for more Ohio State content.

The Greensboro, North Carolina native was the first Tennessee quarterback since Erik Ainge to be a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award.

Tillman is the top returning wide receiver in the SEC and a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award.

He holds the school record for most consecutive games with a touchdown reception (7).

As a redshirt junior, Tillman recorded 64 receptions, 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Peyton Manning is the only Vol to win the Maxwell Award, claiming the honor in 1997.
