Colts’ PFF grades: Best and worst from loss to Raiders

Here are the best and worst PFF grades from the Colts’ Week 17 loss.

The Indianapolis Colts (9-7) had plenty of chances to put away a victory at home for what will likely be the final time of the 2021 season but instead fell short in a 23-20 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders (9-7) on Sunday.

Instead of clinching a playoff berth with a win, the Colts now face a similar scenario as they did last week. But the AFC playoff picture continues to be a jumbled mess of seemingly infinite scenarios heading into the final week of the season.

Before we move on to Week 18, it’s time to take a look at the best and worst grades from Pro Football Focus in the home finale loss:

Colts’ Matt Pryor to start at LT if Eric Fisher doesn’t play

If Eric Fisher can’t play, the Colts will lean on Matt Pryor to be the starting LT against the Raiders.

Indianapolis Colts left tackle Eric Fisher is listed as questionable for the regular-season home finale on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Due to knee, shoulder and toe injuries, Fisher wasn’t able to log any type of practice throughout the entire week. He did some work on the side on Friday but didn’t participate in any individual or team drills.

Head coach Frank Reich told the media Friday that if Fisher can’t play due to the injuries, the Colts would have to decide between Matt Pryor and Julién Davenport. After trying to keep his plans close to the chest, Reich said it would be Pryor who gets the call.

“That would be the decision that would have to be made,” Reich said laughing. “Okay Joel (Erickson), it will be (Matt) Pryor. It’s not that big of a deal. I’m sorry, it’s Pryor.”

Pryor has worked all over the offensive line for the Colts, mostly on the right side. He’s played some reps at right tackle and right guard so he has experience working with the unit.

Playing the blindside will be a bit different going against two strong edge rushers in Maxx Crosby and Yannick Ngakoue.

The Colts should have the majority of their offensive line back all three players expected to return from the COVID-19 list (two already have) while center Ryan Kelly made his return this week following a personal tragedy.

Colts’ PFF grades: Best and worst from Week 9 win over Jets

Taking a look at the best and worst PFF grades from the Colts’ Week 9 win.

The Indianapolis Colts (4-5) rode their offense and rushing attack to a 45-30 win over the New York Jets (2-6) on Thursday night at Lucas Oil Stadium.

In the first home prime-time game since the 2017 season, the Colts had several players step up on the national stage. From the rushing duo of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines to some young pass rushers on the defensive side of the ball, there were some very encouraging developments.

As we take a look at the game grades from Pro Football Focus, we will be accounting for the top-three and bottom-three players who were on the field for at least 20% of the snaps on their respective sides of the ball.

Here’s a look at the best and worst grades from Pro Football Focus in the Week 9 win:

Stock up, stock down in Colts’ 31-3 win over Texans

Stock report from the Colts’ 31-3 win over the Texans.

The Indianapolis Colts (2-4) entered this game hungry to show they still have what it takes to dominate bad teams in the NFL. They did just that with a commanding 31-3 win over the Houston Texans (1-5) at Lucas Oil Stadium.

It truly was a dominating performance on all fronts for the Colts. The offense moved the ball at will either with chunk plays through the air or with Jonathan Taylor on the ground in the second half.

After taking a look at the takeaways from the win and the studs and duds from the performance, it’s now time to take stock from the divisional victory.

6 Colts to watch vs. Texans in Week 6

Keep an eye on these Colts in Week 6 against the Texans.

The Indianapolis Colts (1-4) are looking to get back on track with a home matchup against the Houston Texans (1-4) at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.

This is a big game for the Colts—one they can’t afford to lose. Heavily favored at home, the Colts haven’t found themselves in this situation yet this season. With that, there will be a number of players to keep an eye on during this divisional bout.

Here are six Colts to watch in the Week 6 matchup against the Texans:

Colts’ updated 2022 draft pick order following trade with Eagles

A quick look at the Colts’ updated draft pick order in 2022 following the trade with the Eagles.

The Indianapolis Colts made a trade Tuesday just before the deadline for the roster cuts hit, acquiring offensive lineman Matt Pryor and a 2022 seventh-round pick from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for their 2022 sixth-round pick.

This is the second time the Colts and Eagles have made a trade in 2021. The other one was on a slightly bigger scale, involving quarterback Carson Wentz and a conditional second-round pick in 2022.

Following Tuesday’s trade, here’s an updated look at the draft pick order for the Colts in the 2022 draft:

  • Round 1*
  • Round 3
  • Round 4
  • Round 5
  • Round 6
  • Round 7 (from PHI)

The first-round selection for the Colts has an asterisk because there is a chance that the Eagles wind up with that pick. Given the conditions of the Wentz trade, the second-round pick sent to Philly this offseason turns into a first-rounder if Wentz either plays 75% of the offensive snaps or plays 70% of the offensive snaps AND the Colts make the playoffs.

If those conditions are not met, the Colts keep their first-round pick in 2022.

Because of Tuesday’s trade, the Colts won’t have a sixth-round pick in 2022 but will have a pair of seventh-rounders. These are all subject to change, of course, as the draft is still far away.

5 things to know about Colts’ trade for OL Matt Pryor

Here are five things to know about the Colts’ trade for OL Matt Pryor.

The Indianapolis Colts traded for offensive lineman Matt Pryor in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, adding some versatile depth to the front.

Depth along the offensive line has been questionable throughout the preseason so it shouldn’t be all that much of a surprise that general manager Chris Ballard made a deal to bring in a player.

Here are five things to know about the trade that the Colts made in order to acquire the 26-year-old:

Colts acquire OT Matt Pryor, draft pick in trade with Eagles

Colts acquired OT Matt Pryor and a 7th-round pick in a trade with the Eagles.

The Indianapolis Colts traded a 2022 sixth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for offensive tackle Matt Pryor and a 2022 seventh-round pick, the team announced Tuesday.

As starting left tackle Eric Fisher remains on both the reserve/COVID-19 and PUP list, the Colts were expected to lean on Julién Davenport to fill in during the meantime. It seems he may have some competition in Pryor, who made 10 starts with the Eagles in 2020.

More to come…

Eagles trade OL Matt Pryor and 7th-round pick to the Colts for a sixth-round pick

Eagles trade OL Matt Pryor to the Colts for a sixth-round pick

The Eagles have made a trade, sending versatile offensive lineman Matt Pryor to the Indianapolis Colts for a sixth-round pick.

Per Jeff McLane, Philadelphia will send Indianapolis a seventh-round pick as well.

A sixth-round pick out of TCU in 2018, Pryor started in 10 games for the Eagles in 2020 at three different positions (left tackle, right guard, and right tackle) and he’s played in 27 regular-season games over the past two seasons.

The trade reunites Pryor with former Eagles star quarterback Carson Wentz.
