Sony finally announces Miles Morales PC release date in new trailer

Miles Morales’ PC release date is coming up soon, with exclusive pre-order bonuses for those who opt to buy ahead of time

Months after first revealing a Spider-Man Miles Morales PC port, Sony, at last, announced a release date for the spinoff-sequel in a new PlayStation Blog post. The Miles Morales PC release date is Nov. 18, 2022, on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $49.99, and the port will launch with a number of enhanced features, similar to Insomniac’s Spider-Man port that launched in August 2022.

Spider-Man Miles Morales’ PC version includes customizable ray tracing options that let you adjust quality levels for shadows and other reflections to suit your hardware’s abilities and your preferences. The port fits ultra-wide monitors and even triple-monitor setups, supporting 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9 aspect ratios for gameplay. The development team adjusted the in-game cinematics to make them viewable at up to 32:9 as well.

Players who connect a DualSense controller via USB cord will get the same experience as console players, with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

All this comes alongside the usual set of performance and visual options and support for Nvidia DLSS and, of course, the options to mod the game. While Valve won’t have Steam Deck verified status until the game officially launches, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered was verified at launch, so Miles Morales likely will be as well.

Those who pre-purchase the game on either PC platform before its November release date will get:

  •   Two-suit pack, including the T.R.A.C.K. Suit, and Into the Spider-Verse Suit
  •   Early access to the Gravity Well gadget
  •   Three Skill Points to unlock some abilities from the start of the game

Modding site bans mod that removes Pride flag from Spider-Man: Remastered

Nexus Mods has no interest in arguing with people upset over the situation.

Last week, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered came out on PC to a sensational reception. Various fan-made mods are already popping up everywhere, though only one is stirring up controversy.

Nexus Mods, the world’s biggest modding website, has been a go-to PC gaming tweaks destination for ages. Chances are you likely downloaded various Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Stardew Valley mods off of there. It rules.

Recently, Nexus Mods came under fire for banning a Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered mod that replaced all in-game Pride flags with a USA flag texture. On Wednesday, the company issued a statement regarding the situation.

“In regards to the replacement of Pride flags in [Spider-Man: Remastered], or any game, our policy is thus: we are for inclusivity, we are for diversity. If we think someone is uploading a mod on our site with the intent to deliberately be against inclusivity and/or diversity then we will take action against it,” Nexus Mods said. “The same goes for people attempting to troll other users with mods deliberately to cause a rise. For our part, we will endeavor to do a better job of moderating our website to this ethos ourselves.”

[mm-video type=video id=01garb3nxf7nphkx5wdn playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01garb3nxf7nphkx5wdn/01garb3nxf7nphkx5wdn-e164d27e8846ee1c19a476ce4844c6fd.jpg]

It’s worth noting that user Mike Hawk, who uploaded the mod, did so via a throw-away ‘sock puppet’ alias to avoid getting their primary account removed. Nexus Mods quickly called this out.

“To address the banning, which is what a lot of people want to focus on, the mod was uploaded by a sock puppet account (i.e. a newly made account by someone who already has an account on the site),” Nexus Mods continues. “It was very clearly done deliberately to be a troll mod. The fact the user needed to make a sock puppet like a coward to upload the mod showed their intent to troll and that they knew it would not be allowed.”

Nexus Mods finishes by encouraging anyone upset with this decision to delete their account — a swift, concise response.

‘PlayStation PC launcher’ files reportedly found in Spider-Man: Remastered port

Sony might be making a PlayStation PC desktop client of some kind.

Sony has been slowly releasing fantastic PC ports of first-party PlayStation titles for more than a year. God of War, Days Gone, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Spider-Man: Remastered all got royal treatment, and it seems like the company might be gearing up for further expansion into PC gaming.

According to VGC, there’s evidence of a “PlayStation PC launcher” within Spider-Man: Remastered‘s files. Thus far, Sony has released all of its games on Steam and The Epic Games Store while not announcing anything about creating an all-new launcher. It could potentially be only some sort of additional PSN Store integration on PC, though. Or something that might never see the light of day, for that matter.

Last week, VGC also noted that there are files in Spider-Man: Remastered suggesting that PlayStation Network account linking integration might be on the way too. Many fans are hoping that cross-buy functionality between PS5 and PC could come of all this, but that’s speculation based on rumors. Sony hasn’t commented publicly on either of these findings, so who knows what’s up.

As for future PlayStation-to-PC ports, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is coming. Still no date for that yet, though. Of course, everyone is still frothing at the mouth over a Bloodborne PC version (it’s me, I’m ‘everyone’), despite there being no hint that it’s happening.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered PC features revealed in new trailer

Insomniac details pre-order information, system requirements, and more for the wall crawler’s desktop debut next month.

Next month, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will finally arrive on PC. It’s hard to believe this particular iteration of the web-slinger won’t be a PlayStation exclusive much longer, but superheroes typically serve everyone.

On Wednesday, Insomniac revealed several PC enhancements coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. There’ll be support for ray-traced reflections, Nvidia DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), Nvidia DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing), 21:9 ultrawide resolutions, and additional rendering options by way of SSAO. In layman’s terms: the game will be much prettier across the board.

Check out the latest trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered to see these upgrades in action. I highly recommend watching the high-quality YouTube mirror here as well.

You’ll likely need a pretty beefy desktop to run the game with everything maxed out. Luckily, the specs information came out today too.

Marvel’s Spider-man and Miles Morales will release on PC

The series has sold more than 33 million copies too.

Insomniac’s wildly popular web-slinging adventures will not be PlayStation exclusives much longer.

During State of Play June 2022 on Thursday, Sony announced that Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release on PC. Nixxes, a studio with loads of great ports under its belt, is handling the transition to PC.

“I am extremely pleased with our collaboration with Insomniac on the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, the shared support provided between our teams and their dedication to quality above all is inspiring,” Jurjen Katsman, Nixxes senior director of development, said via the PlayStation Blog. “It allows our team to leverage our technical expertise and focus on creating the best possible PC experience that takes advantage of all the exciting possibilities the PC platform has to offer.”

Check out the announcement trailer below. All footage is of the PC versions too!

Spider-Man Remastered will release for PC on Aug. 12, 2022. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will come out on PC sometime this fall.

Sony also stated that both games have sold more than 33 million copies globally as of May 15, 2022. Turns out people like Spider-Man. What a shocker!

Lots of PlayStation first-party titles are PC-bound these days. God of War was fantastic on the platform, so hopefully, Marvel’s Spider-Man fairs similarly.

Xbox passed on an exclusive Marvel partnership before PlayStation made Spider-Man

Sony then took up Marvel’s offer, leading to Spider-Man from Insomniac.

Everyone loves the Spider-Man series that Insomniac has been working on for the past few years. Wildly enough, it’s partially happening cause Xbox turned Marvel down.

An excerpt from Steven L. Kent’s 2021 book The Ultimate History of Video Games Volume 2 (spotted by ResetEra and VGC) reveals that Marvel Games wasn’t happy with the reception of Activision’s various Spider-Man titles. According to Marvel Games head and executive VP Jay Ong, Activision asked, “So what are you going to do with this IP after you get it back?” during the contract termination process. “I’m going to find a better home for it,” Ong said. To which Activision replied, “Good luck finding your unicorn.”

After both companies mutually parted ways, Ong reached out to Microsoft and Sony about an exclusivity deal.

“We don’t have any big console deals with anyone right now,” Ong said. “What would you like to do?”

Apparently, Microsoft passed to focus on its internal franchises like Halo and Gears of War. Yeah, that may sound like a bananas decision, but keep in mind that this all went down in 2014 when properties like Spider-Man were in a weird place. Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a critical and commercial disappointment that same year, and Tom Holland wouldn’t put on the spandex for a while. Plus, the whole stigma of licensed video games in general.

[mm-video type=video id=01ftbee7jqzcwcatv9e1 playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01ftbee7jqzcwcatv9e1/01ftbee7jqzcwcatv9e1-89d4bb31321fb556af8f53acb3727547.jpg]

From there, Ong had much more success speaking with Sony.

“I sat down with these two execs from PlayStation third-party, Adam Boyes and John Drake, in August 2014, in a conference room in Burbank,” Ong said. “‘We have a dream that this is possible, that we could beat Arkham and have one game at least and maybe multiple games that could drive adoption of your platform.'”

It turns out that Ong was right, as Spider-Man PS5 sold well over 20 million units.

Every Spider-Man movie, ranked before ‘No Way Home’ hits theaters

The only ranking of Spider-Man you’ll ever need.

The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe drops Thursday as they wrap Tom Holland’s seemingly first trilogy as the iconic Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home. When we last saw the webbed wonder, reporter J. Jonah Jameson outed Spider-Man’s identity, causing all sorts of problems.

Early returns have praised the flick, but you can rest assured that this is a spoiler-free zone for the new release. If you haven’t seen any of the other Spider-Man entries — and you don’t want them spoiled — bookmark this tab and take care of that before reading on.

Before Peter, MJ, Ned, and Doctor Strange are back on the big screen, I’m going to rank the previous seven installments of live-action Spider-Man  (meaning this list does not include the nearly flawless animated Into the Spiderverse) based on personal preference. Let’s get to it!

Marvel’s Spider-Man gets two new costumes inspired by No Way Home

The multiverse opens up.

Ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s  release, Insomniac has added two costumes inspired by the film to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered.

As the hype for  Tom Holland’s latest wall-crawling escapade reaches staggering heights, the developers behind Marvel’s Spider-Man  are releasing two spidey suits for the PS5 version of the game. Firstly the gold, red and blue suit along with the somewhat mysterious gold and black suit. Keep in mind that these suits are only available for the  PS5 Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Check out both suits inspired by Spider-Man: No Way Home  for yourself below. They’re beautiful in motion, that’s for sure.

You can only get these on PS5 because Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered  is only available on that platform. PS4 owners, regrettably, will be missing out. Though if you’re a big enough fan of the web-head, there’s plenty of  great games to pick up on the platform by now.

It seems every corner of pop culture is gearing up for Spider-Man: No Way Home’s  release day on Dec. 17. Crystal Dynamics even  finally added Spider-Man to Marvel’s Avengers, who is bafflingly exclusive to the platform. Likely because Sony still owns the character but it sucks for people playing on PC or Xbox all the same.

Spider-Man doesn’t have story missions in Marvel’s Avengers

With great power comes no cutscenes.

There are no story missions for Spider-Man in Marvel’s AvengersIGN  reported Monday.

Unlike  Black Panther: War for Wakanda  and several other expansions for Marvel’s Avengers, there are no grandiose in-engine cutscenes for the Spider-Man: With Great Power  DLC. Instead, the storyline comes by way of audio logs and artwork — sort of like a comic. Philippe Therien, gameplay director at Crystal Dynamics, told IGN  why spidey isn’t getting any big cutscenes like the other expansions for Marvel’s Avengers.

“Really that’s a simple decision for us. Spider-Man can play all the content, but then we release a piece of content that’s good on all platforms,” Therien said  via IGN. “Really, that was a decision that’s been that way since the beginning.”

You can catch a glimpse of Spider-Man in Marvel’s Avengers  below.

Crystal Dynamics calls Spider-Man: With Great Power  a Hero Event  instead of an Operation since there are no actual cutscenes. The wall-crawler will be playable during past missions, though.

Marvel’s Avengers can’t seem to catch a break. The game  caught a lot of flak for its now-removed paid boosts  and  Square Enix’s president called it a disappointment

Spider-Man gets a reveal trailer for ‘Marvel’s Avengers’

The web-head makes his debut in Marvel’s Avengers.

A certain wall-crawler finally made his debut in Marvel’s Avengers  on Thursday.

Spider-Man’s reveal trailer in Marvel’s Avengers  shows off Crystal Dynamic’s take on the iconic character. He’s not the web-slinger from Marvel’s Spider-Man  by Insomniac Games  like many people were expecting — primarily due to the Spider-Man: With Great Power  DLC being exclusive to PlayStation consoles. However, he’s still full of snarky quips and one-liners, so it’s still a faithful depiction of the character. Shame that they didn’t get Yuri Lowenthal back to voice spidey. At least, it sure doesn’t sound like him in the trailer.

Take a look at Spider-Man’s reveal trailer in Marvel’s Avengers  for yourself below.
