Remember when Yamamoto was tuned up in the Korea Series, and all of the Los Angeles fans were up in arms? He has arguably been one of the team’s top pitchers since that ugly debut, allowing 3 or fewer earned runs in each of his past 6 outings, including 3 straight quality starts.

The DODGERS -2.5 (+120) are worth a roll of the dice at this price point. Winning by 3 or more runs in an MLB game isn’t easy, but Los Angeles has the offense to put it on the Marlins +2.5 (-145).

We saw the Dodgers, even when the starting pitching wasn’t at its best Monday night, cobble together enough offense to get the job done on the run line.

Cabrera is a pitcher with straight gas, racking up plenty of strikeouts when he pitches. But he is also very wild and gets himself into trouble with walks. Look for the experience and high-powered L.A. offense to take advantage of his generosity.

You just can’t back the Dodgers (-300) laying 3 times your potential return.

That’s risky betting behavior anyway, but especially with a guy making his first start since June 2022. Buehler is making his way back, he’ll likely be eased into things, and the Marlins (+240) are using a hard-throwing pitcher with plenty of gas.

AVOID.

Run line/Against the spread

The MARLINS +1.5 (+120) are a solid play at plus-money. We don’t know how effective Buehler is going to be, although he faces a rather toothless Miami lineup, and now Arraez is playing his baseball in San Diego.

The Dodgers -1.5 (-145) will have their hands full with Munoz, who has pitched well in his first 2 appearances, though.

Over/Under

UNDER 8.5 (-110) is the way to go, as Munoz has kept scores low, and Buehler faces the perfect offense to ease back into action after a long layoff. Los Angeles is on a 7-3 run to the Under, and that is what is driving this play.

PASS because the Dodgers (-225) prices me out of taking L.A. outright considering Alcantara has top-notch stuff and Miami’s bullpen has pitched significantly better than L.A.’s so far.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME the DODGERS -0.5 (-135) FIRST 5 INNINGS because of L.A.’s said bullpen issues, Alcantara is a lot less effective vs. winning teams, and Kershaw’s advanced pitching numbers vs. the Marlins lineup are impressive.

For his career, Alcantara allows two-plus more runs per game vs. teams with a winning record, has a 1.41 WHIP (1.05 WHIP vs. teams with a losing record) and is 6-16 against winning teams.

Also, Kershaw has a 1.35 FIP with a .229 expected wOBA vs. the Marlins lineup whereas Alcantara has a 6.43 FIP and .451 expected wOBA against L.A.’s hitters.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 6.5 (-120) for a tiny wager because I think L.A.’s lineup does damage to Alcantara early, and both teams put in their lesser effective relievers if this game is in hand early. That means the backdoor is open for the Over despite the starters’ stuff.
